Thank you for the detailed comparison Tim . I was planning to get both and having watched your video plans remain unchanged. First it will be Mach 4 replacing my other Hoka shoes, the Rincon, and in a couple of months Velocity will be the replacement of my Reebok Symmetros. Thanks again, you're the best!
Another thoughtful and generous review. Its good to hear about the Pumas as this brand has been off my radar for a long time and these shoes are under £100 here in the UK so sound good for the price. Thanks for your focus on the outsole tread patterns as very few of us are running on dry roads all of the time so good to know about anti-slithering features. Many thanks for the great video and look forward to follow ups.
I've had the Mach 4 didn't work for me sent it back, got the Velocity Nitro and this does work for me, your right it does run long and I had to do a runner's knot to stop heel slip. It's so comfortable with lovely cushioning without being squishy. Also have floatride energy 3.0 and again a lovely daily trainer that can do slow, rec, long and even picking the pace up as with the Velocity. Both great value here in the UK.
I think the Velocity Nitro and the Reebok Forever Floatride Energy 3's are very similar in their ride. I also enjoy running in both of them and they are both affordable. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I greatly appreciate it and I know other runners do to. Have a great day and stay safe.
Only a couple of runs in the Puma though while I have done 100 miles in my Mach 4's. I got my Velocity Nitro's for $65 vice the $130 for the Mach 4. I use an old fashion shoe horn when I need it as far as that issue goes. In the end, I don't like to overthink it, I just love those doggone Mach 4's cause I love 'em. However, it is always good to have your 2nd string guys you can call off the bench. I love the Velocity Nitro's for different reasons. I agree with your findings.
Thanks Ray. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. I know you are busy with producing videos for your channel. Have a great day. Stay safe.
Nice comparison Tim. I think I will probably pick up the Velocity to see what Puma is all about! I've been torn between picking up the Mach 4 or another pair of Rincons. I really like the Rincons and my current pair is ready for retirement. The shoe I'm really excited for is the Skechers Razor Excess!
I do like Skechers. They've been using the Nitrogen infused foam for a while and they have their M-Strike design that makes them smooth to run in. Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great weekend. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks Tim. Boy, I’m going to have to consider adding the Mach 4 to my hit list as well. Gotta clear out my shoe closet some more first. More eBay listings to come I guess.
I know. I hear you. I think I need to buy a bigger shoe shelf...lol. Thanks for watching and commenting. I greatly appreciate it. Have a great day and thanks again.
I have to do that sometimes as well. I wanted to get the Mach 4 in a different color but the black was available for me to get quicker. Have a great day. I hope you enjoy your new shoes. Thanks for watching.
I'm a bit late on this, but the Mach 4 has only just (like, last week) been released in New Zealand. I've had the Velocity Nitro since March and really like using it for a range of runs. I raced a half marathon in it in April and it was fine, but I prefer them for runs up to about 10km or so. They're also great for runs on non-technical trail and fire roads (which is where a lot of my running is done). I've been keen to try the Mach 4 for quite some time, so may well get myself an early Christmas present.
I do really enjoy the Mach 4. Hoka did a great job with it. Running fire roads you must have some awesome scenery to look at. I always enjoy running trails. It's so peaceful. Hey thanks for watching and for taking the time to share your experience. Have a great day and stay safe.
Great comparison, Tim!! I haven't tried either of these shoes yet, but I think the Mach would be more up my alley. Although I am curious about the Deviate Nitro from puma. Have a great weekend!
Thanks Brendon. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I'm a big fan of both of these shoes. I'm really enjoying the Mach 4 as a speed day option. Have a great weekend and thanks again.
I think the NB Rebel V2 will be out on May 1st. I'll be trying to pickup a pair myself. Hey thanks so much for watching and commenting. Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
Thanks for this one Tim! Now that I can get the Velocity Nitros for $90 I think this competition is over! 😆 I'd love to get some Mach 4s on sale.... Waiting! Can the Pumas go long? Comfortably?
Hey thanks for watching. I greatly appreciate it. It's always great to get running shoes on sale. I just ordered the Velocity Nitro 2. I am looking forward to taking them out for a run. I like the version 1 and I think you'll enjoy them. Let me know what you think. Will you be posting a video on them on your channel? I'd be interested in you thoughts on them. I hope you are having a great weekend.
Enjoyed the review Tim ! When you spoke about the velocity nitro and foot hanging off the midsole a bit, is that generally considered normal and o.k. if they feel good? Reminds me of when I tried on the Hyperian Tempos in a local store. Loved them but was not sure, just assumed they were too narrow because of that.
This is a design feature found in a number of running shoes. Others fit you more directly over the midsole. It's not a bar thing either way. It comes down to what feels best for you. The New Balance Rebel V2 is another one that I feel like I'm hanging over a little on the medial side but I love running in them and they are really comfortable. I don't enjoy walking in them that much but running is great. Have a great day. Stay safe.
Hi Tim, if you can only choose one out of these two, which one do you prefer? I'm about to get my first proper daily trainer and unsure between these two. Mostly doing easy and long runs. Anyway, great video as always!
I would go with the Hoka Mach 4. I am really impressed with them. Hoka did a great job with this version. Hey thanks for watching. Good luck shoe shopping. Have a great day.
I do want to review the NB Rebel V2. I understand that New Balance has pushed back the release date to May 1st now. Hopefully there won't be any more delays. I think the Mach 4 vs Rebel V2 would be a great match-up. Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day and thanks again.
I'd lean toward the Mach 4. I really enjoy the smooth ride and they are so light. Hey thanks for watching and asking the question. Have a great day and stay safe.
Hoka Mach 4 are different class i think. Velocity Nitro more equal to Floatride Energy 3. The both shoes is great for $100 and they have a similarity of running feel
I own the Energy and although I like it as a daily trainer I find it basic regarding its materials and not cushioned enough for runs longer than 15k, I own Reebok's Symmetros too and that's a much more versatile shoe compared to the Energy, I'm expecting Velocity to be a worthy replacement of it. But first I need to replace my Rincon with the Mach 4.
@@CarlitoArgentina yeah, the energy use for 5-15k because the thin insole. But i like the upper and midsole from Energy 3. The velocity slightly more stable. I was only able to run a maximum of 15 km. Both of them are sufficient for my running needs
@@CarlitoArgentina i think the energy 3 and the velocity are the same feel about the cushioned. But if you compared to Hoka, Endorphin, hyperion tempo, its different level about the cushioned and stability. Choose shoes according to your needs.
Thank you for the detailed comparison Tim .
