Such an incredible beautiful movie, it’s great to see hear all this background of the making
Tyler Stalman commenting on an Indy Mogul video... nice!

I'm really enjoying indy mogul's content. Getting a since of the industry and the professional's ideas behind films. Great work guys!
Thanks!
@@indymogul I never knew I'd be so interested in filmmaking but just watching this one single video has me feeling hooked. I subscribed to your channel immediately, and I seriously can't wait to see more cinematography insider videos like this. I feel like I learned secrets or something, lol. So fascinating.
Proud to see a talented Romanian getting the recognition that he deserves. He's incredibly talented!
And thank you, Indy Mogul, for the great content:)
I've been studying cinematography for three years ... I've learnt more in this video
Where have u been studying?
You need to get a job as a camera production assistant so you can watch the decisions being made and the equipment being set up.
I minored in Cinema Studies in college and it all comes back with this video, super educational!! 👍 🎥 🌟 🤩
Loved this movie. Learned so much from Mihai visiting. What did you guys think about Jo Jo Rabbit?
Loved it
Honestly, the cinematography was one of my most favorite and memorable aspects of it, and I'm ecstatic for your video here. I just saw the film tonight, and of course am binging on behind-the-scenes of Jojo Rabbit (like I do with all films I see), and came across your channel! I had not expected to see a cinematography-focused video at all, let alone a whole channel dedicated to it! :) Please continue making more of these.
@@sketchur where are there behind the scenes clips? Show me!
Indy Mogul, this was fascinating to watch. Thanks for sharing your interview with Mihai and making this video.
From a background in stage photography, I'm contemplating taking a filmmaking/film camera operation course, and watching a professional like Mihai explaining their process is very inspiring.
Using 1.33x anamorphic lenses with a square sensor to get 1.85 aspect ratio with the characteristics of anamorphic was a super cool detail. Great work guys.
I have to say guys, this entire series exploring DP's and their process is amazing. As a DP myself, it's difficult to gain access to this type of insight that is natural and organic from these titans of our craft. Often times, lighting is taught too academically that, while brilliant (and necessary to know) in theory, lacks the nuance and "you have to feel it" approach that translates better on camera and on set. Love what this channel is doing and looking forward to more of it. 👏🏽👏🏽
This movie was so good, the directing, the cinematography and the acting was great.
This was a great breakdown too!
One of my favorite films this year. I’ve watched it three times and love everything about it. Thank you for this wonderful episode. It was very enlightening. 😁
D W was that a pun
These breakdowns are so informative and inspirational. Really shows you how GOOD work is done, how even the pros make mistakes and shortcuts, and how to scale what they do for smaller productions.
Watching this makes me appreciate the actors even more. Imagine all the waiting for lighting to be reconfigured. Wow. Nice movie all around.
Karen M. yea as an actor and cinematographer i understand why it has to happen but it really is so annoying
They are payed a lot and by the hour at that. Nothing to appreciate there
I gather from this video that the major wait times were the explosion resets-and you really don’t want to rush those. The other set ups mentioned were genius in their simplicity, so waiting for lighting to reset was minimized.
Back in the 90s, we joked about Jan de Bont liking to use available light: EVERY available light. I worked in a rental house in San Francisco when they shot Basic Instinct, and the production rented almost every lightning unit at all the rental houses (CRW, Adolph Gasser, and Mason Studios). You can bet those setup took forever.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this content!!! Please keep it coming. Great work!
please do more of these breakdowns, amazing content. thank you Mihai and Indy Mogul
I've just seen the movie. It's really good. I'm glad that we have the chance to listen to the DP explaining his process. Thanks Indie Mogul!
This video and the Hustlers one are easily the best Indy Mogul episodes ever.
Great interview! Always fascinating listening to the dp breakdown their scenes 👏🏻
I just love to see these episodes, we can learn so much! Thanks!
For real this the best series on youtube right now for cinematography. Don't stop.
This was INCREDIBLY insightful! Hope you can continue to get some more big-time DP's to talk about cinematography. Seriously gold.
This movie was gorgeous. I liked jokers cinematography better but this had some of the best use of colors I've seen in years
This movie is my absolute favorite, I’m so happy to see all the love put into it!
Amazing series guys! Really enjoying it!
Thank you for making one of my favorite movies ever.
These videos are incredible, holy. Thank you so much for bringing on these great DPs!

This video is freaking amazing. The information is so valuable. Please for the love of God continue this series. It's so good. Thank Indy Mogul
I dont know how I got here, but its always fascinating to listen to someone talk about their passions, skills, and talent. I liked how there were examples! Like the aspect ratio! All in all, this was a very well done video!
Haven't had the opt to see the Film yet so this will make it special! Great conversation from one of the Best! Learning SO MUCH about lighting in these Cinematography jam sessions.
Thx Ted & Mihai 🍻
Let us know what you think about it! It’s a wild movie.

No wonder this movie was amazing! Loved it so much! ❤️
Thank you Ted and the rest of the Indy Mogul team, it is always so great to watch your episodes.
Such well crafted "behind the scenes" shows are very rare.
Also love your podcast episodes. Nearly finished all of them whilst working on the building site!
It is great to learn about film making whilst still having to work in another field. ;)
Greetings from Berlin!
love Berlin! What an amazing city. Thanks for tuning in Ludwig, glad to hear they've been fun to follow along with. - Ted
Such a great film, beautifully shot, amazing production design, casting is brilliant. Taika is a genius.

Fantastic, thanks for posting. Loved this movie and the ending was simply brilliant. Please, more content like this.
This is just amazing. Thank you for this insight and for sharing aspects of this amazing movie.
I’m a fan of these cinematography discussion to learn how they filmed certain scenes. In your next video like this, can you the DP about their approach to creating an image system (choice for lens, the composition, etc) for the entire film versus individual scenes?
The cinematography in this movie was fabulous!! Great to hear a conversation focusing on it.
Amazing! Thanks for all the detail
Love this video, so informative and great to hear someone so good at their craft explain how they did things. Keep up the great work! Really like how you guys show the lights and equipment as they are mentioned.
Trying to keep it practical! We want to learn this stuff too
Great episode. I love this series of breakdowns. Very illuminating, if you'll pardon the pun.
This video was so informative! Thank you so much.
I remember these guys back in the old bfx days. Really cool to see how they changed over the years
This is the best filmmaking content on the entire internet right now. I learn more from these videos than anywhere else. Please continue this channel! My only recommendation is have some audio guys on! Audio is such a HUGE part of film, it would be nice to hear professionals talk about their craft within recording dialogue for film
Thanks. This was a beautiful example of cinematography. I'll have to definitely check the film out
I've been wanting to know how this film was shot and lit. Thank you so much!!!
Please do so many more of these kind of videos, Indy Mogul!
The scene with the lamp as the key light, mind blown
i loved this movie! it was so beautiful, visually and in story. I really enjoyed the cinematography so it's really fascinating to see how it was done.
its amazing episode, i want more! :)
Please do more DOP interviews like this - this is dope
Love the lighting analysis. I don’t shoot any more - but these are “craft entertaining”!
What an awesome cinematographer!
this was so informative and helpful for someone just getting interested in film (background only in photography)! thank you!!
I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions, but just from this interview alone I wanna learn as much as possible from Mihai! Thanks.
LOVE THESE VIDEOS!
Filmul meu preferat! Buna treaba, Mihai!
looking forward to watch this film!!
The film doesn’t come out till January in the UK, but this has me look forward to it a lot more.
One of my favorite shot and graded movies
Love this!
The aesthetic of the film seemed heavily influenced by Wes Anderson.
cool
in terms of set design, it seems very similar. but wes anderson movies dont have special fx, and 99% of the time they are static shots, and he only uses very few cameras and angles. but the colours are a similar too.
When I was watching this movie, I had to pause it and search if Wes Anderson had made it. I was almost sure it was a Wes Anderson film.
@@empireprotege wes anderson films feel "fake" and too choreographed, a bit like plastic. its too perfect, and its why some people hate his work and why some love it.
@@Sol-gl3nl And you sound like a hater yourself. Havn't met many of you before.
Yes, that's his whole aestestic, and it's very unique in a world of carbon copy super hero movies.
Saw this movie last night, it is great. Quality interview.
'twas a good movie.
Great Video!!! 👍
You should do more like this one! 😃
Thanks for sharing your experience
Wow, you've been getting some awesome DP's on the show! Absolutely love this series. Keep 'em coming Ted!
would be amazing to see more breakdowns with DPs like this!

You left out my favourite line where she says she's going to chew on these grapes and pretends to chew her wine!
Bravo ție mai băiatule! 👌
So much valuable information
great episode
I'd love to see a cinematography breakdown of The King on Netflix
Yes make this happen
Ohhh.. beautiful movie and completely went under the radar. Should have been released on the big screen as well!!
@@fmkhan213 yes, I liked it. And the lighting was phenomenal.
Top notch content.
I’m proud that Mihai is a romanian, as I am! ☺️
This was a good one
I love this breakdown of a beautiful film. Just one thing, 1.85 is DCI spec (2K and 4K), 1.77 16x9 HD/UHD.
