On today's autism family vlog: we're out filming with the BBC for a short film for the National Autistic Society's Autism Hour that will air on the Victoria Derbyshire show on BBC2 at some point in the next week or so. Andy's patience was tested at times as we spent much more time walking around shops than we normally would, but he got plenty of lifts as a reward and we all managed to witness a fantastic moment of him connecting with a complete stranger because they liked the same song - Andy even ended up sharing his toy train with him for a second, something we've never seen him do with anyone before! ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
Hi, I'm Kevin Chapman, a full-time UA-camr, author, podcaster, speaker and occasional teacher from Peterborough, UK. As part of my daily vlog I release new videos every day at 5pm UK time with topics including life as an autism family, conventions and geek culture, technology, education and tutorials and entrepreneurship.
When I left my full-time as a Computer Science teacher in July 2017, my partner, Anna, was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator who's always at home when my kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. This channel is the story of my family's ongoing journey as family vloggers! Previously known as lollujo Vlogs.

Andy has seemed so Much more grown up these past few days...
That was amazing of Andy to share his train. I saw him pass it over to the man and the man pass it back. There was a communication between the two without words. It was like Andy thanked him for sharing the music. That was very cool to watch. Anna is such a mom, don’t let the train past this point because I won’t be able to get it! How many moms have said something similar? Andy was saying whatever mom in that teenager way without saying anything.
I always well up with tears of pride when Andy surprises everyone! He is such a cutie pie and just enjoys life!

Music is amazing!!!! Seeing Andy do something he just doesn’t normally do and also connect with a stranger like that just because of music is just amazing. Definitely hope you find more songs he can connect like this with or I hope his school continues to teach him BSL through music. It’s doing wonders for him !

I love that andy is doing bsl sign language and more people are beginning to I have done it since I was little but my mum never really picked it up with me that much so I only know a few words but I'm getting into it now and doing your course I love it if you can teach Andy more and more stuff that would be great because it would widen his vocabulary in the BSL community

Wow I’m personally deaf myself just a tip if he learn sign language and he have a melt down in a public place he could sign to you I heard if makes people more comfortable because only you and him could talk together in sign no one could know you talking about but honestly it depends what type of meltdown he has
