A serious fan since J35 Draken days (and experiencing a ride with mom's Swedish cousin who had a 99Le in 1976.)
Some people say there's no connection between SAAB Automobiles and SAAB Aeroplanes. Well, I beg to differ. Both of them are planned to save lives, for starters.
I never knew how beautiful, let alone powerful and lethal JAS-39 Gripen was, until I saw her in action at Rovaniemi six years ago. After that I've been doing some digging, and I'm even more convinced.

What about 2000 miles over open water with out refueling?
The only place you are going to find those distances of open water is the middle of the largest oceans on the planet, who are you going to fight there? With extra tanks it's got a range of 4000km which is much longer than either the F18 or the F35.

@@Rikard_Nilsson Wake Island and Midway Island had major battles, they are both in the in the middle of the Pacific.. I don't think the Gripen has anyplace to refuel.
Sweden have to build a carrier version of the Gripen.
