thanks for the tips going to start my etsy grind and will not give up this time going to make my first goal 1k a month. will use you as a mentor and i will 1 day reach the 10k monthly goal
The thing that takes pretty much all of my time is creating good mockups. I sell mugs on Etsy which mostly use a wrap-around design and creating mockups for these take so long! I'm trying to find a way to improve my method but man, it's soul destroying work haha
Hi Alek if you don’t recommend Placit then what should I use? I do graphic design professionally at my day job but that’s just to show a customer the logo on the garment. I’m not retailing the items so an amazing mock-up isn’t needed in that case.
All good regarding the video BUT nobody ever tells you that if you are from Europe you get an extra fee because of taxation(VAT 19-25% depends on each country) automatically reduced from your earning. This makes the competition with the USA sellers undoable by far.
I wish I'd known about Etsy's new "we hold the order payments for new shops for 20 days within your first 180 days of being open" thing before I ended up creating 800 Christmas ornaments, shelling out money on production and shipping costs and fees only to not get paid back. I'm screwed if my orders keep picking up because I can't afford all these costs. PLEASE be up front with people about this. When you're broke, it's important to know. I'm trying to get out of years of poverty here. TLDR: It's not as cheap as 20 cents per listing and a $19 setup fee, folks. You've also got 10% fees plus another 15% fee if they buy from an offsite ad, then you're barely making anything after that and your shipping and production costs. OH! And forget about selling to the EU and UK; Etsy collects VAT from the customer, doesn't give it to you, then you have to pay Printify for that VAT because there's no way to mark the VAT as paid on the POD order. And you bet the shipping estimate Printify gave you will be at least a few bucks off.
well said mate!!! we also listed our product prices and tried to be competitive with the USA sellers only to find out that we automatically get 24% VAT off of each of our orders because of the EU.
Then search for a platform that's europe oriented Example i am in latin mamerica, then I'll search for an app here If everything's deemed to fail, then I won't try it. Etsy is a business and as that they will do ANYTHING to take the most of money.
I've never found a 'successful' shop that uses their mockups. They don't convert/customers don't buy from them. If you find a shop that's using them successfully then please let me know 🤔
@@alekSheffy Thank you, Alek! ... according to your experience, it is only the main mockup of a product or it is necessary to fill all available spots using the mockups that the big player using?....
Right now, the product uploader is only Printify, but templates for other product uploads, and digital products should be available soon 👍 If you have feedback on specifically what would be helpful for you, you could join my free discord and leave some ideas in the prelist channel.
hello alek, im ansh. im 16 and want to start a business on etsy . but i am having a lot of issues. could you please help me? im from india, hence having problems related to bank details
Designs aren't listed for free. If you made 10,000 listings this week you would owe Etsy $2,000. If you have 100,000 listings, every billing period you owe Etsy $20,000. Its .20 each listing and that adds up quickly.
That's right, good math. If you managed to post 10,000 product listings and made no sales, that would be truly impressive. Also, if you want to make money without any investment at all, good luck to you sir. $0.20/listing is as close to free as you'll really get.
I've seen some Indian shops... I'm not sure why some people are able to open while other's aren't. Maybe ask this question on Reddit or somewhere an Indian seller could help you out
@ thanks, will do. According to their website etsy has stopped allowing new sellers to sell on it. I don’t know why but it’s something to do with etsy payments.
Anyone noticed a lot of spam email mail from Alek recently? I'm thinking maybe his print on demand facade isn't as successful as he leads us to believe and so he's really targeting us to buy his course. Pretty fascinating.
on etsy its not always about brand building. random-ass shops selling every type of designs still making sales everyday. sometimes you just wanna get out there and get some sales for motivation if anything. then eventually build brand(s) and merge to shopify and so on.

Bought XAI67J after watching your video, super excited! 💰
It is funny that not everyone knows about XAI
When the world knows this, we already x50 🚀
undervalued project
this is only crypto project that I see has real use
Coinbase, OKX and Binance will list XAI very soon. We do not have much time left

Which video? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Really good advice here. I'm gearing up to start POD and you gave me some things to consider.
Let's gooooo 🤝
Love these 7 tips, Alek. Really great advice! I'm going to check into Pre List right now. Thank you so much! I hope you have a blessed week!
Thank you! It's in beta right now, but it's going to be beyond awesome and super time saving once it's fully launched 🙌
I am looking forward to the Prelist app! It will help me a lot for sure!😊
Please make a long video of starting etsy step by step. From thinking of a name to fulfilling the first customer order

Printify x Printful✌️
hi Alek love your videos, is print on demand still viable right now for teenagers who want to make a bit of cash?

Good explanations, thank you
Glad you liked it
Nice alek .. do you have a blueprint of POD for how to start step by step
I have the checklist I shared in this video, and a quickstart guide which are both pretty helpful imo
Thanks, Alek. Where do you store your designs? Do you need to make a backup? 😊🎉
I store them in Figma, since that's where I create them. It's sort of in the 'cloud' which I like 👍
@@alekSheffy Thanks for the info. Have a great day! 🎉😊
@@108derrick Alek has done videos on how he uses Figma, which I suggest checking out. I haven't seen anyone else doing this.

Do you have recommended MALE Mock-ups on Etsy for Bella Canvas 3001. Pretty well every one I see is either super average or some muscleman.
Yes, especially depending on the design
@alekSheffy Any recommendations for male mock-ups?

Thank you Alek, if I do not use Printify, how the product uploader can still work to post products on Etsy, it only works with Printify?
Right now, the product uploader is only Printify, but templates for other product uploads, and digital products should be available soon 👍

Mile Stone checklist is not working. Saying the value is invalid when putting the email address, fix it please 🙏
Hmm, did you try to "duplicate" the file in the top right? That should make it work

Can I still make money with POD on Etsy in 2025?
Never stated where to get mocks from? Or did i miss it but definitely said not placeit
I get them right off of Etsy 👍

Wrong way to think about it, the sales you'd get from 100k listings would far outweigh the listing fees. Unless the designs are absolutely atrocious

If you are targeting all kinds of unrelated niches then you do not actually have a niche and you are not building a brand.
