Hey nick, great video. I've been wet shaving for about two months now, and I just want to say thank you. I've watched your videos since I started and they have helped me a lot. Specially your beginners series. Thanks a lot and looking forward to more videos
Great video like always. I appreciate how you always share something of value. On the Nivea post balm, I have read and have had success myself with using both an alcohol aftershave and Nivea on top.
Hey Nick. I've just learned to store my soaps like you do. THANK YOU!!! I had picked up Al Sapone razo rozk and was my go to for some time and I always closed my jar after each use. Then I switched to another favorite soap PAA Speakeasy. Went back again to Al Sapone and I did notice the softness and maybe I'm crazy but less smell. Can you lose scent from a soap if its stored closed wet? Sorry for the long explanation. Paul
Hey Nick great video man. I have to agree that slants give great shaves. I just recently picked up an iKon DLC Slant and am loving it. Keep up the great videos when you can of course.
nick shaves I agree about the price. I saved for it. Unfortunately that meant i couldnt afford to get in on some of the recent LE HTGAM soaps. It was worth it. However from what Ive read it shaves exactly the same as the Merkur slant.
Nick - I love my 37C. I do 3 passes, (WTG,XTG&ATG) and get a BBS shave. My neck is sensitive also, but I found that using PolSilver blades or Astra SP blades allows me to do that 3rd ATG pass on my neck with no irritation.
VIDEO SUGGESTION: Can you do a tour showing us your grooming products? Shave, face wash, body wash, lotion, cologne, deodorant etc. It'll be nice to see what you use and to get ideas for new products to buy.
Great shave Nick! I recently discovered one of my soaps got a little gooey and was storing them wrong so I created a drying station for soaps where my brush and razor hangs. Very important to protect your gear and investment, thanks buddy!
Hello Nick cheers from Texas! Love your reviews, I've purchased a few different soaps upon your recommendations. I did have a question about your method of letting the soaps air out. Does leaving them out result in any loss of scent/fragrance that you've noticed? This is my only concern with leaving them out for so long..
Adam Robertson Thanks for watching! I haven't noticed any decline in scent. Perhaps the top layer may lose some (not that I have noticed this, just thinking about it) but deeper layers it should be locked in
I've noticed that if you keep the lid off some of the stronger soaps for several days they lose some of the powerful scent. The room acquires it. This happened to me with Arko shave soap.
Awesome man! Just got my HTGAM OC and 2 pucks of CaD today. Got a personna lab blue loaded in it ready to go for the morning! My second razor (after my EJ DE89) and first time with the synergy 2.0, hoping for a great shave!!
nick shaves Thanks! Mostly influenced by you haha I started with the Omega 10066 and then mostly now I use a 22mm Whipped Dog silvertip as I mostly bowl lather. I'm on instagram as XRUNNER_13, I think you've seen my stuff on there.
Hey Nick, two things, have you ever tried the Cade Shaving Cream from L'Occitane en Provence?, the other thing regarding after shaves is the amount to put on, I live in a somehow humid climate in Montreal, Canada and I usually check on the humidity level to see how much after shave I put on since I really don't like to feel I've plastered my face, it'd be interesting to know if it's the same in your city, (I believe is Chicago right?), thanks and cheers!
The slants - and open comb razors - seem to frequently match up well with the Personna Lab Blue blades. Those blades are smooth enough to not add irritation to the shave!
Love the Nivea balm. I have that and the replenishing balm as well. And please do the Mudder review. As it's one I am considering buying. I bought Catie's Bubbles LPV based on your review.
Hey Nick awesome video. I'm very new to the safety razor scene. I was just curious on how many shaves you can get out of a blade before changing it? How many shaves do you you usually get?
People usually say 3-6 shaves before it gets dull, it depends on the blades coating some dull faster and others last a few more shaves. Blades are dirt cheap you can get a pack of 100 for $10 online. Along with Nick's videos there are two other channels that give helpful advice for beginners: *Geofatboy*, *Mantic59* both of them are the shaving guru's lol. I've been using a safety razor for almost 7 months and without the three of these guy's help I'd still be using a cartridge razor...
Hi Nick, I've been shaving with the 37C for over 2 months now and I love it. It does really good on my trouble spots. So far the Bolzano DE blades seem to work the best for me. I've not tried using a Feather DE blade in it just yet. What are your thoughts on using a Feather DE blade in the Merkur 37C slant?
hey nick, I tend to break out a bit on my chin. do u think shaving with a safety razor or a cartridge razor would be a little bit more gentle for skin with acne?
It's actually from the hospital. The use them to trim arm hair on hairy guys for IV placement. Need to take it for a spin sometime. It's made by Medline
That's a great razor. I personally own the Merkur 39C, not the 37C, but I understand the difference is just a longer handle on the 39C. I get the most comfortable and closest shave w/ it.
Btw: adding clay like elements to a shave soap is frequently a cause of dryness and irritation after the shave... How do you feel this soap does in regard to aftercare?
Hey nick, great video. I've been wet shaving for about two months now, and I just want to say thank you. I've watched your videos since I started and they have helped me a lot. Specially your beginners series. Thanks a lot and looking forward to more videos

Thanks man! I really want to get an ikon slant, but they are pricey. Perhaps in a few years
nick shaves I agree about the price. I saved for it. Unfortunately that meant i couldnt afford to get in on some of the recent LE HTGAM soaps. It was worth it. However from what Ive read it shaves exactly the same as the Merkur slant.

I need to check out the pol silver blades. I think that I have a few around. I've never had any luck with Astra blades
nick shaves Definitely a YMMV thing. The Pol Silver blades are currently my favorite.

I could do that! If people are interested if be more than happy to share
I'l really like to see that. Please show us your hair routine too if you have one :)
nick shaves I think I'm getting a lot of likes! :)
Great shave Nick! I recently discovered one of my soaps got a little gooey and was storing them wrong so I created a drying station for soaps where my brush and razor hangs. Very important to protect your gear and investment, thanks buddy!
Thanks! Yeah, caring for our wet shaving gear is key. Especially after we have invested all this money into our setups. Drying is vital!
Another excellent video. Thanks for the tip on soap storage. I always learn something here.

I wonder. If u nick still use the nivea shave cream and if u still like it

Is there a shelf life for tallow based soaps? Love ur vids btw!!!
We go from shirts to hoodies to ski pants to shorts here in Boston. In the same week.!
It's hectic! Seems like it's finally settled into Fall
Until today... 80 degrees. Hahahaha

Totally! They are great blades, sharper than most blades, but they really stand out with their smoothness
Love the Nivea balm. I have that and the replenishing balm as well. And please do the Mudder review. As it's one I am considering buying. I bought Catie's Bubbles LPV based on your review.
I will review it! Love the Nivea aftershave, its the best that i have ever used
Nick I know you really like the Nivea post shave, but you should try Neutrogena's. It has been my go to for almost twenty years - I love that stuff.
Darn it Nick! I was just thinking of ordering that razor. And the you show up with it......lol. Will probably pull the plug on it now.
if you have the time one day i will be happy to see the review of the sea buckthorn shaving soap
Haha! I've been waiting to do that review for a while now. I'll hunker down and get it done

I usually go 3-4 shaves. Just depends on when it starts to dull
Hi Nick,
I've been shaving with the 37C for over 2 months now and I love it. It does really good on my trouble spots. So far the Bolzano DE blades seem to work the best for me. I've not tried using a Feather DE blade in it just yet. What are your thoughts on using a Feather DE blade in the Merkur 37C slant?
I've used a feather blade in it before and is good, just a bit aggressive for me
Ok thanks. It looks like I'll have to switch blades because my beard seems to be getting tougher more and more each year.
hey nick, I tend to break out a bit on my chin. do u think shaving with a safety razor or a cartridge razor would be a little bit more gentle for skin with acne?
Safety razor for sure! It has only one blade, which is easier to cater to your shaving needs, as opposed to 3+ blade strokes in 1 pass
Do you change your technique at all with a Slant head razor?
Hey Nick, I was curious about the blue razor when you opened the cabinet beside you. Details?
It's actually from the hospital. The use them to trim arm hair on hairy guys for IV placement. Need to take it for a spin sometime. It's made by Medline
That's a great razor. I personally own the Merkur 39C, not the 37C, but I understand the difference is just a longer handle on the 39C. I get the most comfortable and closest shave w/ it.
Btw: adding clay like elements to a shave soap is frequently a cause of dryness and irritation after the shave... How do you feel this soap does in regard to aftercare?
The aftercare was great! No drying out whatsoever
i imagine its tricky to get under your nose with the slant bar
9:40 look at all those brushes
BTW great shave!
Thanks!
Everyone +1 my previous comment so Nick can pursue the video idea
Cool
Nivea balm? Should have gone for a good burn instead. Crack the Cat on your face next time.
geofatboy is a gouger everything he sells on his website is way over priced I can get those items less on Amazon
