Really wanted one of these but the stripper guide being on the second section is a deal breaker for me. I am sure it is a fine rod as I have found all Vision products. I just cannot believe that if this rod was designed with the help of multiple comp anglers they didn't insist on this feature and a down-locking real seat. As far as not having two locking rings, I use teflon tape on my rods and nothing slips. Thank you for the review.
I think that changing a few small details could have made a good rod a great rod. You mentioned these including the double locking rings and the stripping guide on the butt section. I have a different Vision rod and also found the cork to be slightly below average in quality.
I have the 11foot 3wt, mostly cause I wanted the fighting but and down locking seat. I assume they will launch newer versions with some of the upgrades especially if you look at the cheaper hero offerings they launched last year. The single locking ring, worried me but on the down locking with a fair bit of water time I am yet to see it come loose. :)
I have briefly with a friends one, I have one on my list for later this year just been holding out to see if they add a new version. I fish the 11 on sorta mid size streams ( uk ) and some of the larger welsh rivers. Mix of French leader and euronymph lines. To be honest I have fished the 11 on a micro little streams ( 5 - 12ft wide and been successful, but spent some time removing nymphs from trees I was even thinking of the 9.6 3wt as my second but I think based on most peoples views a 10ft 2 or 3 is kinda the go to 9-5wt of euro nymphing. It’s fishing I know I will wind up with too many rods in time, all in all the action and quality of these blanks is right up there with some of the best. :)
@@pierrejoubert394 yup the reach is epic, the control and sensitivity is insane caught a load more small fish which I probably just didn’t notice before. it’s just being aware of what is around you and occasionally having to bow and arrow cast vs over or side hand.
@@leighbarnes2922 You're right, have't thought of that. You can bow and arrow so much further with a 11ft. That will allow you do do fewer casts but all planned better.
Mmmmm, we have a video coming up where I discuss both these rods. But, in short they are completely different rods. Remember, the Vesper is a 10ft 6inch rod and I think that its a lot better suited for larger rivers and bigger fish - just a overall beefier rod. The 10ft 3wt Vision is more sensitive. There's also a price difference. Both exceptional rods, just different specialities.
Looks like a great rod but why no down locking reel seat in the 10ft 3wt and no cloth bag? seems like it would be two nice little touches ( of little extra cost ) that would make a great rod better?
Agree 100%. I’m not sure why we see so many euro nymphing rods on the market without the necessities like down locking, fighting but, eye on first guide etc. nonetheless it’s a great rod designed by great competition anglers so I guess they have their reasons

What rod you have Darryl?
I don't have a Vision nymphing rod. Got the Hero Still (9'9 6wt).
@@darrylchappies9506 They look like sweet rods 👍🏼👍🏼
I have a 3 and 4 wt. love them.
Great to hear Greer. I must say I share your sentiment.

Thanks for the feedback Leigh. Have you fished the 10ft version too? Where do you use the 11ft?

@@leighbarnes2922 Trees are fly magnets 😂, but you're right a 11 might be too tight on small streams. It does however offer great reach and control.

I sold my estate but for the money I can't see the justification in the price difference. Love you videos.

I might have to sell an estate before I can spend $1000 on a rod 😂
Really wonder why they only went for the downlocking reel seat on one of their models?!
The longer the rod they more obvious the tip weight will be, so they probably had to counter this 11ft pole with a downlocking setup.
How would you compare this rod to a moonshine vesper 3wt? What rod is better value? And does one preform better than the other? Thanks

Hi there, what vision line were you using for this setup? Thank

@@intoflyfishingpretty obvious because they designed it to also be used with a flyline......you can nymph with a flyline you know......
@@carlhughes9584 true. I was more referring to the Euro Nymphing specific rods. Euro nymphing by nature is not fly line.
