But instead of Starbucks it happens to be psychedelic writing. Just particularly _good_ psychedelic writing. Look, for a little bit I worked as a lab tech testing drug purification devices at Million-poor Stigma. Not a high-level job, but a lab job. I did a little r&d science. And I made a bet with my coworkers Alan. I said that 500mL of 90% ethanol thoroughly mixed with 500mL of distilled water would be less than a liter of total volume. I claimed that liquid volumes aren't always simply additive. Alan thought that was wrong. Alan has a degree in biochem. He was like, oh, lemme ask Chat-GTP. Chat-GTP is really smart. It passed this college-level test recently. GPT-4 gave the wrong answer. I know this because I grabbed a graduated cylinder and I just did the experiment. AI's are not currently designed to optimize for truth or academic honesty or logic or rigor. They can develop the capacity to do some of these on the way to doing other things, but there's absolutely no guarantee that that'll be what they're doing with you. Chat GPT is optimized for producing text that looks like a human generated it. And it's been censored and dressed up a little to appear PC and corporate sanitized and polite. Please kindly repeat after me: THOU SHALT NOT CRITIQUE A RESEARCH PAPER WITH CHAT-GTP. I have no more to add. Thank you.
