Why no press? You can make one easily with a bottle jack and a steel frame with the saddle of the jack welded to the frame.

Please use more clean area to assemble spindles. And your bearing preloading method is totally wrong. You have to measure/ adjust the inner and outer race spacer lengths for the required preload and the lock nut to be fully torqued. Very bad workmanship

No you don’t, if the bearings have built in preload light medium heavy all you do is make sure the spacers are the same.
