It’s a incendiary piece of work. A total belter. I wish there was a modern “play for today” or just more single television plays like Mr. Potter wrote. Moonlight on the highway is another brilliant one as well as all the obvious stuff. Mr. Potter’s interview with Melvyn Bragg, his final interview is one of the greatest, most beautiful statements about life & work & England that there has ever been. He was a great writer, truly great. He is sorely missed
It was so much about nationalism - loved the scene when the devil agrees with the farther on racism and gets excited at how far it goes ie full on holocaust

Michael Kitchen was outstanding as Martin in the TV BBC play.
Dennis Potter was fabulous
B& T on UA-cam atm not sure how long enjoy . The writing is phenomenal
Why did they ban that play?
The rape scenes yet it’s always ludicrous as we don’t see it , it’s always a mistake to ban art
@@EM-lz9kg now I know.
Pennys from heaven is a classic
Isn’t it ironic they banned this art . Whilst what we know now what was happening with Saville and so many others paid by the BBC
It was so much about nationalism - loved the scene when the devil agrees with the farther on racism and gets excited at how far it goes ie full on holocaust
💚I prefer this version in comparison to tv version with Kitchen in it. In my relatively humble opinion, Kitchen always plays Kitchen.
