yes..I finally subscribed..watched your tips on cycling 100miles..I've only done that 'accidentally' while cycle touring with panniers and tent, which is my thing....once I met a guy in Greece in 1974 on a motorbike and we were both heading to Turkey so we said let's meet at the border..it was a beautiful long day, rolling road, lovely late afternoon, evening, again I didn't realise that it was over 100miles... I used to take my son on the back of my bike, he's 41 now and tho he lives in Northern Ireland we like to meet up and cycle.. we used to live in Manchester and liked to go up Pott Shrigley, or up to Cat and Fiddle and down into Buxton and back via Whaley Bridge..thing is I want to deliberately go out and cycle 100 miles while I think I can cos I'm 68 now..ps i'd love your ebook, hint hint..
Getting back into cycling after a 15 year hiatus. Last 100 mile ride was at age 40. I'm encouraged by your video to try again at age 55. Thank you for the encouragement Katie!
Thank you for making my introduction into the crazily addictive world of cycling so much easier. I’ve managed to avoid most of the initial pitfalls due to your advice, but am just enjoying getting out there on my bike. Since March I have gone from borrowing a bike and hitting the roads for the first time since I was a teenager, to getting my first 100km under my belt. Now eyeing up an Endurance bike purchase :)
Love how you are all about the true experience. No personal agenda. Just the sheer love of cycling. I have learned a lot of the years from watching your videos and when I find myself pushing watts to try to go faster I think of you and I remember it is about the experience. No rush! Also, you are genuine about letting others know it's about what works for each of us. If it's mountain bike shoes, that's fine...just genuine you are. Totally need to watch you kit essencials videos again to take nota and get the chain thingies...def. leaning a lot from you. Well done and thanks for having the platform to share with others.
Noooo thank YOU for subscribing and watching and sticking by me over the year. I wouldn’t have a channel if it wasn’t for you. So want to try and give back as much as I can. Any questions or video topics please just ask! :) x
Yep, i am a creator too. It is very obvious Katie has mastered the vlog technique. The picture out of the Sony is very nice. If anyone saw Katie when she started, she has come a long long way, diet, weight and creator! The transformation is amazing!
I would recommend riding your 1st Century on a charity group ride. They usually have rest stops every 10 miles or so. Think of it as a series of ten 10 mile rides.
Great advice-I’d emphasize that this is likely the first time where they will need to force hydration to stay up with demand, since at least for me, on longer rides thirst is a lagging indicator. Brilliant series Katie.
Great tips katie . i have just got into road biking having been a mountain biker for many years . I bought a gravel bike for my commute as i wasn't sure about the drop bars . i loved it, loved how fast i could cover the same miles . i swapped out the gravel wheels and treated myself to some road wheels and what a difference . so now i have the best of both worlds been following you for a while now and the videos are great . They make perfect sense and explained in a way that makes you think " yeah i get that " keep them coming and stay safe
Love it thanks. I’m 66 I’ve rode 150 mile plus rides in my younger days trying to get back to 100k again booked sportive in April and May 22 so have to do it now. Range up to 50 k now
I’m really enjoying these videos, so useful - I did my first 100k a couple of weeks ago. I did a flat route and was so pleased when I did it - going to do it again, then build up to 100 miles. Thanks for the eating and drinking on the bike tip, going to practice that. The series is immense - thank you! 🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️
Hi Katie, I look forward to these videos every day! All of the comments are so lovely too, which is quite refreshing! I’m a relative newbie and a bit overweight, it builds my confidence and is so motivating to hear you say that anyone can do it! 40km has been my max so far. I’m sure I’ll get there. Great video, thanks!
Thanks Katie, your easy authentic style is great for us newbie riders. Its encouraging and really supportive. This video is great advice as I plan to do my first sportive in November. Keep it up!
Great tips. I second going easier when starting a long ride. I feel if I'm pushing too hard or I can feel it, I just drop a gear until it just flows. Works for me. I take a drink every 5 miles/8km if not before and snack every 20-25km. So far it's stopped the dreaded bonk on longer rides. Keep up the awesome videos
Thanks for the really useful tips Katie. Your infectious enthusiasm and joy about cycling is really positive and inspiring especially in these difficult and challenging times. There are so many physical and mental benefits that come from cycling. I have friends that have been struggling through some tough situations and I love to invite them on a bike ride with a coffee stop and a chance to have a good chat and also get those endorphins flowing. You are a great champion for cycling. Keep up the good work Katie.
great video! funnilly enough rode my first 100k yesterday instead of my normal 20 miles, to celebrate a 90th birthday. if only this video came out a day before! so many fantastic tips here, I didnt prepare well enough and these are such down to earth tips, great to see. will definitely adopt a lot of these tips fort the next time i decide to push myself again. thanks for these! might have to read the ebook
Katie ...hi..i am amandeep from India...this is my first ever comment on anybodys video on youtube...it is very incredibble to see your journey as a cyclist...i am very very much inspired by your videos...i have a mtb which i do not ride much because of a couple of excuses...but i realy realy aspire to become a cyclist just as you are...and by the way you are really beautiful..all congratulations for what you are doing..keep inspiring peoople like me..thank u very much
Another good one Katie. For the long distance stuff I also look at the wind charts-getting up early is usually worth it as the wind picks up as the sun rises. A wee bit of free energy. I'd also go caffeine free for a week before-during the century a coffee will have a greater effect. I'd also make my bike fast-get that chain slippery fast. Lots of wee hacks out there.
Thanks for the tips I have just gotten back into cycling and want to do a 50 miler and then a 100 miler, your advice on just get used to the time you are spending in the saddle really makes sense as well as just going at a easy pace, I will apply both.
Glad to see you hit on two of the most important factors to doing a long ride: start out slow and have fun. You are so right, we are out on our bikes to enjoy ourselves, so keep it simple. You look great in your cycling gear!
Brilliant video, I’ve been looking into how best to increase my distance and will be sure to increase my saddle time so much so I’m heading out this morning for a long ride! Love your outtakes. X
Doing my second 100 in a couple of weeks so good to be reminded of some helpful tips. One I certainly learned about last time was my neck and shoulders got really sore after 80 miles. So taking some ibuprofen and some exercises going along like shrugs and turning of my neck from side to side on occasions to alleviate discomfort. Making sure as well to take advantage of drafting even if there’s just two of you the energy saved at the end you’ll be thankful for. Love the channel 🙂👍
Look into taking ibuprofen while exercising, it can cause swelling and not great for your heart. Ideally try not to use - but if you need pain relief try paracetamol if that works for you. I’m not a medical profession of course so do what works for you but please have a look into this.
Hi Katie, wish I had watched this before doing an unplanned 120k to my folks to stay for a few days. Your other content was the motivation to take the bike when junior needed our car. Saved a shed load of fuel........did the return run this morning after fueling properly! Thank you so much for the channel, great tips, keep it up....
I did 10 century rides and with all preparation it is the same - Dont try out new staff - no new BIB, socks, shoes, food, drinks. Very important use your most comfy short /BIB and don´t forget to use the anti chafing creme. Nothing worse than have severe pain and still a lot to go. Don´t remove your pubic hair the day before the ride. Have a good breakfast but avoid heavy stuff and don´t overeat. Plan according to the wind, at least have tail wind on the last part. If you plan a one way ride -- start out there and have the finish at home - Did that with one route , tried both and cycling home gives you some extra push. Even if your friends are faster, do your own speed. Of course use it to get faster but don´t over do it. Keep the breaks in the beginning to a minimum, try to get the first large part in one go, so that you can use the freshness first. For the first 100 Century , have some opt out possibilities in mind. Maybe a train station after 60km or 80km, , you could skip an extra loop/hill, so that you know you could cut it short if necessary, that reduces the pressure.
I've now done a few 100k rides (100km) and your advice is spot on Katie. But like you say, the most important thing is just to get out there and ENJOY it. Just make it the most enjoyable thing you enjoy doing. 🙂
Love the videos. I have now decided to purchase an endurance bike to start my adventure of exploring my town on a bike, maybe I will join a bike club as well, we will see. Keep up the good work I love your content and style. Thanks again.
I'm searching for my first road bike. Planing on doing some long runs this year, since traveling abroad seems to be complicated. Saving this video to watch before my first big ride
True!! it's quite euphoric after suffering up a climb :) Nothing beats the freedom of being out on the bike regardless of the difficulty of the bike route!
I rode my first century with a club, also I had a good friend coming with me who was a more advance cyclist and had done it many times before. He became sort of my pacer when i was struggling and if not he would tail me. we did start slower than everybody else and at the end we just caught up. Those fast early novice starters dropped out and they wound up following sitting in the bus. You are completely right, is about time spent cycling, knowing your long term pace, making sure u eat plenty of fruit. If you can spend 5,6,7 hours on the bike cycling you can surely do it. It was fun untli the last 5 miles...those I dont remember lol
If I could offer a couple suggestions to anyone looking to ride their first 100 (km/mi): 1. Related to Katie's advice on routes: when you're training or working up the endurance, look for shorter route segments that you could link together. Ride the shorter segments individually, then as your endurance improve, start stringing some segments together. 2. While you start finding those short segments, also note down/remember/etc. any places to go to the restroom (loo? 😜), as well as where to get food/fluids. Nothing is worse than having nowhere to "take a nature break" or running out of nutrition. Don't ask how I know this ... 😉😂
Once my bike arrives, I will be trying ti get fit. My aim for this year is to do a 100km ride (I did a 100km ride on a fully loaded touring bike twenty years ago, so I think I should be able to do it). Next year, I will be aiming to get fitter still and try to do a 200km Audax and maybe more....... maybe. Thanks for the tips and advice, Katie, I will be putting many of them into practice. I love your videos and the ones that GCN do, but I feel yours are more applicable to me and the sort of riding that I want to do.
Was supposed to be doing my first 100 miles today doing the Brum Velo, this year it has been cancelled. Having a date to train to makes for great motivation. Research your route, learn lots and pay attention to people like Katie who have done these before. Have fun and good luck.
Cycling in a group for a charity event most definitely mentally inspires you do do more than you physically thought you could do. Nothing beats the Fun Factor 🚴
Everyday loads of new tips! They’re great - thank you! We went out today with the mindset we will just go wherever and just explore. We did put first 40km! Enjoying is deffo key! Also route planning. We encountered some hills and terrains we were not expecting!
Thank you for all this time you take to educate and give advice to new cyclists like me. I really appreciate it. You truly are an inspiration. Started riding about 3 months ago... I really love this sport. Thanks ❤️
Man amazing video, I remember when I did my first ever 118km serious race in 2018. I went out in the first pack going at 34km/h average speed on primary straight roads and I got dropped after like 35km and I soloed in the wind and rain for the rest of the race. Impactful and emotional race but it taught me a lot
I’ve just done my first 100kms two days ago that actually turned into 120kms coz I ended up getting lost and going in the opposite direction to where I wanted to go, then I got back on track heading towards my destination but didn’t really drink enough and I felt knackered when I got there and felt like taking the train home but I grit my teeth and got on with it only to encounter a incredibly strong head wind (probably not that strong at all!) for the last 40 km/s of my ride. I was totally done by the time I got home and thought about chucking my bike in to the neighbours skip but managed to stop myself, took a second and realized I actually enjoyed myself and I’ll be back out riding in a couple of days once I can sit down again. 😜
I love your mini-series. It gives me so much hope and is very relatable especially coming from another woman. I haven't found any women youtube cyclist channels. I'm a new cyclist so these videos are very informative. They have been pushing me to get out there.
Inspirational stuff and some cracking tips. Based on your climbing advice did 130k today up on the North Norfolk coast....was tough but worth it. Thank you.
Love your videos - been watching all week and went this morning, took it easy (I usually go out far too hard from home), took plenty of food and finished my first 100km which I hadn't planned for. Oh and love the out-takes :) Keep em' coming.
I started cycling again almost 2 months ago. I used to ride to work and on weekends on a regular basis but that was 7 years ago. I now do about 125km a week and have been riding some of my old routes along the way. Some of which include some climbs as well. Earlier this week I attempted a short but steep climb I had tried a few times earlier with great difficulty. I was determined to get up the climb without stopping. I noticed another rider up ahead by about 200m and thought ,If he can do it so can I! But he stopped and walked his bike instead. So I thought, I'll show him how it's done. We got to the top at the same time and he yelled, You're making me look bad! Best compliment ever.
Love these comments. Gotta check out that 7:46 min mark mentioned. 100mi seems a lot for me right now, still trying to get use to hit my ~50mi a week while properly fueling. Love the advice about vs distance, now to try and convince my brain to ignore distance. Thank you.
Did my first 100m at the Velo last year, only been road riding for four months at the time. Listen to what she’s saying, it’s great advice. Also join a cycling club and do club rides.
I would first like to agree with everyone who commented on how visually appealing your videos have become, they have a lovely look about them. As for century rides, I’ve also done a lot of them over the years with audax rides being amongst the most enjoyable. But I have to say I’m another endorsing the charity ride for your first century ride. Have a look at British Heart Foundation when everything returns to normal they have some great rides, well supported and the upbeat, happiness of the event is good for 25 miles on its own!
I've done the getting lost and adding 50 km to the ride. It was't so bad because I love this stuff, but there are always moments when you desperately want to know where you are. Thanks for the tip about Epic Ride Weather. Hope it works in Canada too.
Thanks for all your videos. Great and helpful information. Can you also share some info on the gears / tools you use for creating these videos . Keep the good work going.
Another nice video, wanted to do my first 100k ride but wondering what sort of foods should I carry ? Shall I buy a Topeak top bar bag ? I carry mostly 6 medjool dates for upto 60k ride and 1.2l water. Weather is hot this week, wondering what extra to carry ? Do I need a storage bag at all ?
Hi Katie.. I’ve been cycling for years and trying to drop 30 pounds ( or more) with no success despite me cycling 100-125 km/week, after watching 1000,s of cycling videos I see a trend that most lean cyclists are vegan or at least vegetarian, so today I’ve decided to do my first full day with a vegan low fat diet, I just wanted to let you know that your one of my influences because of your weight loss story/journey. Thank you for your inspiration through all your videos. Wish me luck! ( or should I say willpower, lol) 🏔🚴🏻♂️💨👍
Firstly... there were plenty of thin cyclist... and still are, that are not vegan or vegitarian. Skinnest guy I know pretty much only eats meat and potatoes in one form or another. ( Not saying that is healthy btw) Vegan or veggie is a wider life choice. Potatoes , rice , sugars have massive calorific content so you still have to be aware of this. Find foods with low GI. Stuff that slowly releases it's fuel overvtime. This stops yoyoing of sugar surges and stops you from being hungry again. For a 100km ride... eat oats, with fruit, bananas ,berries honey etc... a good amount of it. Take a banana, a bottle of water and a bottle of sugar/ glucose drink. Typically 4 to 4.5 hrs. Just plod away, its not a race. 100miles is slightly different. Factor in a stop or take additional food on the bike... you have to fuel it as a 6 or 8 hour effort cannot be pre-loaded. Whenever you ride hard or for distance, always carb load within an hour afterwards. You need fast carbs at this point to help your body recover. Sugary fruits are great.Sugary fruit drinks are fine. Nb. Watch calories, the stuff on the rides should be burnt on the rides... 400 to 800 cals per hour. The stuff after helps with recovery but are part of your cals intake for the day! You only lose weight by expending more calories than you eat, to do it painlessly... eat lots of low calorific veggies... it keeps you full without adding unecessary calories... carrots not potatoes. (sweet potatoes and yams are excellent though)
Hi Katie, I watch all your videos and - even though I have a Tern small-wheeled, folding bike and don't take my cycling too seriously - find your tips and advice useful. I'm doing a Cycle for Dementia throughout this month, raising money for Alzheimer's Society. Originally aimed for 100 miles but have now upped it to 200. I know it won't seem a lot to many people but it's a big challenge for me and my bike. Loving it though and am now up to 120 miles :-) Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making it sound fun at the same time.
Thanks for tips Katie, and all commenters. I like the time vs distance. Its easy to compare miles rather than just being on the bike. Ill grab water and food and bike more!
Great video: and best part is that you don't make a meal of doing a 100, but keep it simple. Get some hours in as training, remember to eat and drink, know your route, and enjoy! You nailed it :) Refreshing change from those who can make it sound like preparing for the Transcontinental.
Great videos. Just did my first 100 miles yesterday and it was great! Was at 98, so going through neighborhood trying to get 100, and pitbull chased me. Great way to end it!
Great vlog.... appreciate what u were saying about not going out to hard... I was on Boxhill today really focused on constant cadence and heart rate when a bunch of old mamils passed me.... sadly for them I passed them in the last 100m.... dont over cook it... PS did you see my kudos on your stava👍
i did my first 100 miles last year on a sportive my "mistake" if you like was not drinking enough a mistake i have with all my rides i suppose. but remember little and often then it will help stop the cramps lol
Can somebody tell me how to handle butt sore? I wear proper shorts, I've got gel saddle cover but at roughly 70km my butt sore badly...It feels like I spend hours on sitting at rock. TIA
So after your clipping in vid, my wife has purchased some xt spd's....thanks to your encouraging videos. She is really enjoying this series, and is more motivated to get out thanks to you. :) thank you.
Wow.! Epic Ride Weather - top tip.! I’m not new to the cycling game but thought I’d watch this video anyway. I’d never heard of that app and it’s a winner. Goes to show you don’t know what you don’t know..etc. Many thanks.
Ditto on the dates, eating while riding, and having a friend with you. Also, good idea to have someone on standby in case something catastrophic happens. Having sanitary wipes is necessary, because you don't know the condition on the bathrooms you'll be at. Also, pack an extra pair of shorts if you get rained on. Jacket doesn't always keep your bottom dry. (more important if you're doing multiple centuries over a few days. Also, make sure to pack tubes and tires. You don't know how far the next bike shop is (and plot the bike shops on the route) also, pack a small camera. You'll wanna capture some of the brilliant sights.
Your Videos really motivate me to get on my bike and do some riding :) I've done lots of running, and did some (half)marathons. Haven't done the 100k on my bike yet, but it's definitely a goal of mine. I've made it up to 85km. Hope to do the 100 soon.
I did my first 100k recently on a mountain bike. mixture of tarmac and off road. Easier than i thought but have only done shorter rides since as my legs have been feeling it
I did my first 100km canal path gravel ride… it was tough … did it solo. Rookie error, not enough food. Had 1 sugared waffle and a mini mini daim bar… forgot them Harribos Biggest tip… do the first half at a sedate pace… And if you see cows… guaranteed to be cow poo around. That ain’t mud

I am making my way through this whole playlist and loving every video! Thank you so much for all you are sharing, it is so very helpful.
Your e-book should be called "How nice is this", hear it in lots of your posts and always makes me smile.
Thank you for making my introduction into the crazily addictive world of cycling so much easier. I agree with this.
No charity in my country ever offered a ride with prepared breaks There are normally quite long ones like "Herz Bewegt"
im doing my first 100 miles tomorrow for ACS American cancer association, it runs from Philadelphia to Atlantic city.
Great advice-I’d emphasize that this is likely the first time where they will need to force hydration to stay up with demand, since at least for me, on longer rides thirst is a lagging indicator. Brilliant series Katie.
Defo!!!!

that epic ride weather app is amazing! just for the wind direction feature alone! thanks!

Completed my first 💯🚴♀️ miles today!!! Rain, headwinds, crosswinds - but so happy! Thanks for all the inspirational videos Katie! X
Love the out takes at the end, brilliant stuff and nice one for helping people who are getting into cycling . all the best Karl...

Go for it Sarah! Hope the ride went well love x
Katie Kookaburra thank you, it did. Figured out a new route where I can keep on going and adding more time on my saddle 😁 x
Good vids Katie keep it up well done !!!
What a great, encouraging message. Currently preparing for my first 100m.

I did 10 century rides and with all preparation it is the same -
Dont try out new staff - no new BIB, socks, shoes, food, drinks.
I did my first 100km ride this week and took the previous advice you have given. Like your videos keep it going.
Well done James!!!!!
Katie, just checked out the Epic Ride Weather app... What a great tip! Thanks a million, because I think it is one of the best tools.
100klm is my first goal. Hopefully get there soon. Keep posting these amazing videos hopefully you know how many people you are helping. Thank you.
Hi just following your vids - got me back into cycling - great advice and tips - its just riding a bike
Nice one! 😎
Just have fun! Even when I’m suffering up a climb, I’m outdoors, exercising, and on my bike having fun!
True!! it's quite euphoric after suffering up a climb :) Nothing beats the freedom of being out on the bike regardless of the difficulty of the bike route!
I love your outtakes so so much! Great video!
If I could offer a couple suggestions to anyone looking to ride their first 100 (km/mi):
This is so encouraging! I love the idea of starting out slower and then gain speed later.
So right about time, not distance. I did the Ride London and trained so I could ride six hours. Worked for me. Great vid - thanks.
Was supposed to be doing my first 100 miles today doing the Brum Velo, this year it has been cancelled. Having a date to train to makes for great motivation. Research your route, learn lots and pay attention to people like Katie who have done these before. Have fun and good luck.
Great tip matey! Always another day for the ride :)
Epic ride weather looks fantastic! can properly plan kit for the ride! Hope your solstice was enjoyable!
I didn’t ride it - car broke down on the way to meet a friend for a ride! Worst things have happened haha x
Love watching your videos. Your enthusiasm is infectious.
Just come across your inspiring video! Looking forward to talking your advice for my first 100 mile challenge at 64 😅
You got this!
Thank you for all this time you take to educate and give advice to new cyclists like me. I really appreciate it. You truly are an inspiration. Started riding about 3 months ago... I really love this sport. Thanks ❤️
No worries at all glad I can help! :)
I love your videos! They're not only super helpful but just so aesthetically pleasing! Can't wait for more :)
Katie you are a huge inspiration to me ! Keep up the great job!
Really good. I might add, check your mechanicals. Tire pressure, shifting, brakes. A little bit of inefficiency really adds up over 100.
That’s amazing so glad you like them!! Any questions please just ask!! :) always will try and help x
Well done Mark! Smashing it mate 👏🏼
Been loving the outtakes you put in these as well!
😂🤣😂
Well done Rudi!!!
@@KatieKookaburra Thank you. And thank you as well for being an inspiration with your videos. Planning to do a 100km ride by the end of July
Love these comments. Gotta check out that 7:46 min mark mentioned. 100mi seems a lot for me right now, still trying to get use to hit my ~50mi a week while properly fueling. Love the advice about vs distance, now to try and convince my brain to ignore distance. Thank you.
Super helpful tips! Love it
Did my first 100m at the Velo last year, only been road riding for four months at the time.
Thanks so much Stuart, really glad you’re liking them and how they look :)
I've done the getting lost and adding 50 km to the ride. It was't so bad because I love this stuff, but there are always moments when you desperately want to know where you are. Thanks for the tip about Epic Ride Weather. Hope it works in Canada too.
Yes! Enjoy the ride. Thank you! I get so wrapped around the axel on keeping a certain pace or mph. I need to let it go and enjoy the ride! : )
Totally useful tips, always looking forward to the next video.
Love all your videos. Thank you for the inspiration 👍
Thanks for all your videos. Great and helpful information.
Can you also share some info on the gears / tools you use for creating these videos .
Keep the good work going.
Yeah will do for sure. So how I film and edit type thing?
@@KatieKookaburra yes , thanks
Great videos keep up the good work
Top tips! Looking forward to checking out that weather app!
Great to hear you sharing some useful tips. So many cyclists try to be so ‘elite’ and you keeping it real and fun is very refreshing. 😜👏🏻
Always will be 😎
Good for you Jeff! It's impossible to out work a bad diet. Great decision on eating healthier!
@@REMAX_CCA Agreed! Nutrition is key to eveything!
Firstly... there were plenty of thin cyclist... and still are, that are not vegan or vegitarian.
Jeff that is amazing well done. Would videos of what I eat in a day help?
Hi Katie,
I watch all your videos and - even though I have a Tern small-wheeled, folding bike and don't take my cycling too seriously - find your tips and advice useful.
I'm doing a Cycle for Dementia throughout this month, raising money for Alzheimer's Society. Originally aimed for 100 miles but have now upped it to 200. I know it won't seem a lot to many people but it's a big challenge for me and my bike. Loving it though and am now up to 120 miles :-)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and making it sound fun at the same time.
Lots of good advice Katie! Thanks x
Thanks for tips Katie, and all commenters. I like the time vs distance. Its easy to compare miles rather than just being on the bike. Ill grab water and food and bike more!
I'm loving these daily cycling tips. So useful. Thank you Katie!
Wonderful video's K. I really enjoy your work, effort and enthusiasm 🙏🏽☀️
Thanks for watching my friend :)
Thanks Katie, I just downloaded the Epic ride weather app and linked it to my Strava ..... so simple👌
It’s so good isn’t it!?
Great vlog.... appreciate what u were saying about not going out to hard... I was on Boxhill today really focused on constant cadence and heart rate when a bunch of old mamils passed me.... sadly for them I passed them in the last 100m.... dont over cook it...
PS did you see my kudos on your stava👍
i did my first 100 miles last year on a sportive my "mistake" if you like was not drinking enough a mistake i have with all my rides i suppose. but remember little and often then it will help stop the cramps lol
Never knew about that particular weather app, I will have to give it a go, thanks mate.
So glad!!!! Woop woop! Clipped in life is the besssst!
@@KatieKookaburra I've been telling her that for years but coming from you seemed to do the trick.. :)
Wow.! Epic Ride Weather - top tip.! I’m not new to the cycling game but thought I’d watch this video anyway. I’d never heard of that app and it’s a winner. Goes to show you don’t know what you don’t know..etc. Many thanks.
Good isn’t it! Shows I’ve checked routes and weather 3,500 times haha!
You don't know how far the next bike shop is (and plot the bike shops on the route)
also, pack a small camera. You'll wanna capture some of the brilliant sights.
Yeah camera is a must for me ha :)
Your Videos really motivate me to get on my bike and do some riding :)
I've done lots of running, and did some (half)marathons. Haven't done the 100k on my bike yet, but it's definitely a goal of mine. I've made it up to 85km. Hope to do the 100 soon.
I did my first 100k recently on a mountain bike. mixture of tarmac and off road. Easier than i thought but have only done shorter rides since as my legs have been feeling it
Love the outtakes!
"What are you filming for?"
"A video"
😂😂👍
🤣🤣🤣
Great video good advice 👍🏻
Thanks for Epic Ride Weather suggestion 👍
Thank you Katie, I really look forward to your daily tips & it will be a sad day when they finish! 😢
They won’t finish! Well daily vids will but will be getting out vids as before or maybe even more :) cheers for the support, appreciate it!
I did my first 100km canal path gravel ride… it was tough … did it solo. Rookie error, not enough food. Had 1 sugared waffle and a mini mini daim bar… forgot them Harribos
Biggest tip… do the first half at a sedate pace…
And if you see cows… guaranteed to be cow poo around. That ain’t mud
