I just bought one of these. It's brutal. It's a torture device. That being said you don't care because it's the most beautiful bike on the road and it's wonderful.
I just bought a 23 Harley street bob this year. Never thought much of cafe racers until I saw one of these on fb marketplace. I’m currently obsessing over this bike and saving up to by it as my second bike!! Can’t wait to ride one! Great video
I'm not getting how the Option 719 makes the bike totally different to ride. It basically has other valve covers and a gold/black paintjob. No changes to the driveline. BTW Option 719 is available for -all- Nine-T models, it's just a different paintjob and a few cosmetic add-ons.
I am so glad you went ahead and did ‘…something stupid’ 😂❤️ Look two years on and you now realise it’s not a scalpel like sportsbike like the S1000RR… but it’s so much more…. Isn’t it? More beautiful, eye catching to anyone on the street, characterful in feel and sound… more engaging in the modifications you do to it (front springs/valve/oil - Rear shock are just totally transformative)…. More collectible, rare and really as time passes the high tech 200bhp missiles that need NASA driving aids are just less fun to ride and less engaging. I love my 1098R… but it’s terrifying… I love my Racer just as much with all its idiosyncrasies…
I do like this but the only thing that kinda stops me from getting one is the motor sticking out front each side. But I’m most likely going to buy it anyway and deal with it.
Cali Moto TV I also (had) a 1000rr which I sold a couple of years ago. I noticed you had 2 of them. Next year I’m getting a RS, as I lost my RT in a Divorce. Do you by any chance know what colors the RS will come in 2021? I would like Silver, White or Red (don't like the current colors)? Thank you! Triple
I had one. Very nice but extremely uncomfortable. You convince yourself that its not too bad at first but after a few weeks your wrists start to hurt and very quickly it becomes unbearable. Thats why they dont sell.
Not the best choice for your only bike. As a 2nd or 3rd bike, it doesn't get any better, perfect for adult track day, great on the twisties and the bees knees for any Bike Night. Triple.
I’m writing this after the Racer has been withdrawn from sales in most (all?) markets. I’m 5’10”, 165 pounds, with wrists smaller than most girls, Mr Universe I am not. Did my wrists hurt when I first rode my Racer? Sure they did. Was it worth it ? 100 % !! You get used to it, go down the gym if you have to! When I bought mine there were lots of low mileage Racers in the UK second hand market suggesting lots of owners had second thoughts, probably because they couldn’t get on with the riding position. But I think the main reason for the poor sales was that the market for a Boxer Cafe Racer is just too small. Most traditional BMW fans want an Adventure Bike or a Tourer, whilst the S1000RR appeals to the wider sports bike market who wouldn’t consider the Racer because it’s only 110 horse power. I think BMW did a great job with the Racer but sometimes great bikes aren’t appreciated until they are no longer available. Not that it matters to me, it’s my only bike and I love it. When I’m on it I’m Reg Pridmore on the Butler & Smith R90S in the 1976 AMA Championship!
@@stewy62 Hi Stewy. Normally wouldn't bother to reply but seeing as we are all on lockdown.....firstly I'm pleased you get on with yours. You are a light chap so maybe it's ok for you. I'm heavy and I (up until all this) trained hard in the gym anyway so I promise you it's nothing to do with not being strong enough. No offence. Could I have kept it and been uncomfortable, yea, but why would I? There's lots of very nice bikes out there.
@@jfro5867 thanks for your reply, probably a persons height, the lengths of your arms etc probably all contribute to how comfortable you feel on this bike in particular. Maybe I would have got used to it anyway but personally I felt that doing weights helped me, that’s why I mentioned it. Looking forward to riding once the lockdown is over, Cheers!

Considering the R7 and RNineT Racer as my next bike. Started on my 2020 R3, and I love it, super fun, and will make a great track bike/commuter. I didn’t realize that this BMW didn’t have a fuel gauge though… Deal breaker for me. 😐 R7 it is, going to fully tune it, with a Toce Full System exhaust. The 270 Crank sound is amazing and it’ll make a good street & track bike. I’m a BMW guy though, so that’s a bummer... 👎🏼 One of the first bikes I sat on was a BMW 2017 RNineT Racer.
Thruxton much better looking & sounds just as nice if not better especially decayted & Vance & Hines exhausts . More comfy too . Still a nice bike though.
So, to summarise the worst bike you've ever ridden was the BMW Option 719, which is essentially the same bike as this racer, but with superior upside down forks, no front cowling and a more upright seating position due to the regular, not clip on bars.....
I completed a 2000 mile tour on my racer, full luggage and one of the most comfortable bikes i have toured on. I think it depends on your size, i have short legs and long arms and fits superb. Bmw have had to reduce price of these due to ‘extreme’ riding position but if like me you are lucky enough to fit then buy one. Have had to replace clocks twice due to internal condensation misting up the dials and the anti knock sensor failed after first week but apart from that absolutely love it.
Hi, I'm 1.83m tall, and I can ride it comfortably. Maybe it's the way I'm built, but I used to own a RSV Mille and could ride that one all day (which had harder seat padding, and a somewhat more aggressive riding position). Personally I don't understand the negative comments about the BMW's riding position, it's fine if you're used to racers.
I just bought one of these. It's brutal. It's a torture device. That being said you don't care because it's the most beautiful bike on the road and it's wonderful.
Haha that's the spirit 🙌
Also bought one this summer.
Hard on your hands but fun to ride.
Just more time in the gym 💪
This is the most beautyful bike ever! And tomorrow I´ll get mine!! Nice greets from germany!
You will Love it :)

When at stop sometimes, I have to rock the bike to shift it to first gear, other than that it's a cool bike, fun to ride.

Think he's talking about the standard R nine T with the 719 option rather than a racer with he 719 option.

.....forgot to say. On the open road it is just about ok but stuck in traffic or going slowly in traffic for anything over a few minutes is a killer.

Can the gold upgrade R9T forks be used with the racer?
If you check out Moto Michelle’s channel (she also comments above) she fitted gold upside gown forks to her Racer.
Did you buy it?
That thing is sweet. Might be time to trade in the '15 if you're fine with keeping the gixer as a track bike

excellent review. I all info I expected and more. I wish they had the colors of the 719 option in the racer.

i love both equally but i’m not a fan of the fuel tank being quite smaller so it looks like the body of the bike was just glued onto a bike frame

719 option is NOT A BIKE. It's just a trim you can have on a lot of BMW. Cmon now.
i dont mean to be rude or anything like that but you cant evaluate that bike, you ride like a newbee
It sounds like 300cc Kawasaki ninja.
