Stealing Black Swan's eggs... to save them
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 лис 2024
- In the middle of the winter, Black Swans in Holland sometimes lay their eggs, because their biological clock is still set to Australia. Mom will sit patiently on her nest, in the middle of the ice. I had seen this ending wrong last year, with beautiful little Swanlings that unfortunately had all died the next morning... this time I was going to intervene.

I don’t know where the story of the ugly duckling that becomes a swan comes from because these buggers are adorable
The story was mostly about how the swan was called ugly because they were different from the ducks
Yeah, while ducklings are small, fast, yellow and striped mostly, the swan chicks are dull, grey, bigger and perhaps seem clumsier. Since the swan chick was different, ugly, he flew away in shame and spent many months alone, growing up. He saw a flock of beautiful swans one day and they asked him to join them, but he said his ugliness was not fit for their beauty. They were like “Bro, look at yourself. You’re just like us.”
@@Trathaal Beautifully told. Thank you.

As far as the mother swan's reaction to him 'stealing' her eggs, this was nearly tame. She fussed at him but she could have done much worse. It's almost like she understood.
She understood but didn’t want them to go, that sounds kinda sad.
Nah she just did a rapid calculus: huge predator, only took 3, still alive, I've got a lot more eggs to protect. Not worth more trouble.
She doesn't see very well at night. In daylight she'd have been much more ferocious about defending her nest.

Same. It's not the bird's fault the northern hemisphere has the wrong seasons. It's quite amazing to me that the birds can keep time so well I wonder how they do it
It's a bit sad, but also nature's way of correcting things. Black Swans are invasive species and shouldn't be living in the northern hemisphere, possibly outcompeting native swans.
@@DonQ94 invasive species only exist due to humans. The smallest change in the food chain will destroy the ecosystem. It is fragile but when the ecosystem gets used to the new environment. But because of humans constantly changing the environment the ecosyatem has trouble getting used to it

You: Hello kitty! Who's a good little kitty?
Cat: Oh f*** off you lousy son of a b***h
Ha
There's no language barrier. They're Angry for what We Humans have done to the earth.
The thing about animals and language is, there's a very primitive language we and all animals share, the kind of primitive language where if a dog growls at you and bares its teeth, you know it's probably going to bite you if you get closer, no one had to teach that, you feel it when you see the dog growl at you. Most creatures that encounter a dog would understand the same thing, but that's the extent of their language. We have the privilege of being smart enough to decode animal language and speak back to them, not very complex stuff, there's no way to tell the swan he's trying to help. Because in the animal world animals only do things that directly benefit themselves, so animals don't really have a whole lot of concept of a creature doing a favor for another creature for no gain whatsoever.
But he can tell the swan that he's pretty big and strong to get the swan to move so he can get the eggs.

@@ibrasome4492 - What are you saying is ironic?
When he whistled to imitate their chirping at the last unhatched egg... 😭😭😭😭 This whole channel is so wholesome
So the thing about taking the eggs, he left some for the mother so that she wouldn’t pine from loss I believe. It’s impossible to take them all, because like humans; animals grieve loss.
Ohhh ok I was actually wondering about that, thank you for the explanation
But now we know that the rest of them died :c so would the mother feel any better knowing that her babies freezed to death?
@@FlowerSong606 I don't know how it is with swans but birds moms are laying eggs again, when you take them all. And then she dies from it.
Swans are very caring animals, they mate for life, and there are many cases of them dying from heartbreak :(
@@FlowerSong606 they don't process things like we do. Yes, having unhatched eggs would be less traumatic than no eggs for the Swan

am charmed beyond words. You are a wonderful human being and we all have much to learn from you. I am relaxing here with my 12 week old puppy - he's dozing in my arms and I am gobbling up your lovely channel. xx

The only person who I could see post a video about stealing bird eggs and 100% know it will be wholesome.
@German Shepherd dog German Shepherd dog nobody cares
Legit did not even bat an eye at it knowing it was him that did it
I feel kinda bad for the mum, even though he was saving them she didn't get to see her babies again
This
But she's not going to see her other chick's to begin with. She layed her eggs on ice so the next morning the eggs would have been underwater
@@howdyhowdyhowdy8242 I agreed, however just saying we sympathize with the mother goose since it really was a lose lose situation for her,. However since Albert so heroically stepped, at least the babies survived & had a really blessed life. However this is terribly bittersweet for the mother goose. Just because you feel bad for the mother goose doesn't mean we regret what Albert did. Cheers and God bless☻☺
Itd be crazy If the babies came back to her all grown up
@Miss Cute I think the reason why he didn't take them all is because he probably only have the resources and time to take three. Also I don't think he wants to take all her eggs and make her depressed/ angry
The weather here in Western Australia is really hot right now, normal. I'm so glad you helped our emblem. They are such a beautiful bird
Thank you so much for all your video my friend, you make my heart happy watched all of them 👍😁🏴🌷♥️
Who the f*ck said they are ugly ducklings (actually cygnets, but whatever) they look so beautiful
I like cygnets so I don't understand why they were 'ugly' in the ugly duckling
@@lspellslogic877 because it was in the point of view of the ducks, so this "duckling" wich obviously wasn't a duck looked ugly to them.
All animals are beautiful
@@Hi-sb1kz Except for wasps most animals have at least one thing that makes them cool/cute/beautiful in some way
I am from Perth , Western Australia and yes they are as cute as buttons .
The cygnets are the cutest babies, how could anyone call such a beautiful animal an ugly duckling? Thank you for giving them such a precious gift, their lives.
beauty standards of duck society don't welcome cygnets 😞
maybe they don't say anything about the swans tho cuz they're ✨exotic beauties 🙊
in conclusion: this was a bad reference to the beauty standards humans have 🏃🏃🏃
