I always enjoy hearing you talk about movies! I ended up watching Don’t Deliver Us From Evil because I saw Jeanne Goupil in this movie first and just adored her! This film was difficult for me to digest as well, I couldn’t tell if I should be creeped out or just in awe with how gorgeous the whole entire movie was. Needless to say, I overall really enjoyed it and how odd it was lol
Yay Alyssa!! thank you so much. I love to hear from you. I love that you saw this movie first! I agree with your thoughts for sure! lol what did you think about Don't Deliver Us?
Classic French cinema is a strange contrast with Italy from what I’ve seen. There’s no shortage in bizarre arthouse, new wave and erotic movements. A whole different beast and charm. While not obscure for example the original French adoption of “the talented mr Ripley” called “Plein Soleil” aka “Purple Noon” (1960) is one I like to put on in the background during summertime. The movie that instantly made Alain Delon a big star and style icon. Just offensively beautiful people hanging around in pretty French seaside locations while holding sinister intentions
(Edit: it was filmed in Italy)
I'm french and we always roast french movies for their long pointless dialogues. It's just a thing. Especially these 70s 80s movies.
HAHA omg! that's hilarious.
Here's a recommendation of a creepy doll.movie with a great ending. A British film from 1966, The Psycopath. Its worth a watch.
awesome, thank you!
Cool.
Thanks for sharing.
Im French and yeah we got a lot of weird movies, btw love what you're doing, thank you!! I saw Eugenie for the 1st time thanks to your channel, can you please review the incredible 1969 "Metti Una Sera a cena" (amazing score) and the giallo "il caso venere Privata" or "Cran d'Arret" in French from the italian novel "Venere Privata", thank you !!
Oh wow thank you!! I'll keep it up :) Hope you liked Eugenie! I'll write down your recommendations!
@@KatieoftheNight my pleasure, I'm an author and write about franco-italian cinema from the 60s and 70s, would love to share my work with you, what's the best way to contact you and send you my books? Looked on FB but found nothing, cheers from France
@@joshkalederr3320 oh wow! Thank you! Email me at katieofthenight@gmail.com :)
Congratulations on using the same background as the last video, visually that setting works. Thank you for going to the trouble to find a dress that is in the spirit of that film. I went back to the film and watched the last third of the film. I came in about the time Claude sets up the doll in the hotel room, walks away, and comes back to the room where there is now a real girl like the doll. It seems there is some blurring between dolls and people. This movie brings to mind Lisa and the Devil where there was also a shop, dolls that blurred with real people and a fading aristocratic lifestyle. I think Bava saw this movie, and Lisa and the Devil was inspired by it.
Yay, thank you! I like using this background so I will keep doing it when I can. Oh wow perhaps it did inspire Lisa. I haven't seen that movie in a while now.
Never seen this, but I seen the title and watched it not knowing what to expect. I love horror doll movies and hoped it went that way, but...the 6 yr old girl scene had me worried... a movie watched because you were going to review it and the actress literally looks like a doll! Maybe you'll review more doll movies? Chucky and Annabelle are waiting....
Yeah, sorry to let you down since this wasn't a killer doll movie! lol. For the record, I do love killer doll movies. I should cover chucky and annabelle!
Don't be sorry, I enjoy all kinds of movies, and this was a creepy tale. Rob might like this one too!@@KatieoftheNight
I suck at foreign names too, lol. I've grown to like and appreciate French films in recent years.
By the way, love the 1950's shirt. The look reminds me of Serial mom.
"I don't know why all of a sudden he flipped a switch" Have not seen the movie, I have no idea...but to me it sounds like he got bored of her, like he would a doll.
Then you point out that she started to have a bit more of a mind of her own which upset him. That says a lot about his fixation on dolls. Dolls are inanimate objects. They don't beg for you to play with them, they don't demand anything of you, they don't say no. This all implies to me he wanted a real life doll and her giving him push back kind of messed up the fantasy.
As for Don't deliver us from evil. As you might remember, I watched it last year...and I was not a fan. I was expecting a horror movie and about satanism and it wasn't a horror movie and "what satanism? This has nothing to do with satanism." I probably should give it another try.
ah, you're right, it is kinda like, pretend satanism. But im such a sucker for blasphemy.
You should review immaculate!
hmmm.... i should actually go look at the trailer huh!? 😆
@@KatieoftheNight it’s a total throwback and even some music from old giallos
@@mudstyle5288 I just watched the trailer and it looks awesome. Nunsploitation/religious horror/pregnancy horror!!! 😍
All dolls are so creepy
Where did you watch Don't deliver us from evil? I can't find it streaming anywhere.
I’m pretty sure I watched it on UA-cam a couple years ago. There was a little era there where I managed to find a lotta things on yt :( I got it on dvd and I think someone else just put out a bluray!
😉❤️👍
