I have actually not seen your channel for years, but it's amazing how you can keep coming up with new questions about Harry potter and break down every single of them!
A channel called Harry Potter theory made a video on the same topic 2 weeks ago. Idk if its just coincidence but both of the channels seem to be using eachothers ideas a few weeks apart.
I already wrote this on another video with a similar subject (from Harry Potter Theory) but my opinion remains the same: Barty Crouch Jr. was one of the greatest if not the greatest actors in the Wizarding World. When he was caught with the Lestranges, only his guilt was ever called into doubt, to the point that even years later, witnesses as Dumbledore were uncertain if he really was a Death Eater to begin with. Not only was the boy a Death Eater, he was one of the most loyal around, who managed to convince his own mother to take his place in Azkaban and who would have continued to look for his master, immediately after being freed, if it wasn't for his father, the only man who ever saw through his lies. He was able to deceive Dumbledore because the headmaster didn't expect an imposter and because he played his role very well. He slipped up once and that was enough for Dumbledore to realize the ruse. Only the final act during the end of the Triwizard Tournament was odd enough to warrant suspicion. Anything he did, wasn't considered all that odd. Investigating Snape's (an ex-Death Eater and ex-dark wizard) office was considered pretty normal for him (there is even a suggestion that he likely investigated each office of his colleagues, as he was at least paranoid enough for it) and his use of transfiguration on Malfoy was also not seen that odd for him it seems. When McGonnagall confronted him about it, she quickly asked him if Dumbledore told him that physical punishments are no longer used on Hogwarts... The fact that anyone would consider it necessary to actually tell new teachers this, makes it clear that in the past this did happen (and we know that some punishments at Hogwarts were incredibly cruel in the past) and that Moody wasn't someone who was above it. After all, he had not really intention to harm Malfoy too badly, just to teach him a lesson.
@@SteveStacy135 He is not perfect there is no way anyone can see through a polyjuice potion that's how polyjuice works and barty croych jr was doing a fairly good job at being moody
If you look in the movie at the moment before Harry goes into the maze Dumbledore looks kinda worried at Moody and Harry. I think he noticed something strange.
Barty crouch Jr played his role as Mad Eye Moody well, basically everything he did, Mad Eye Moody would have done the same, even abusing students and none of the teachers, like McGonagall and Dumbledore two Order members who knew Moody in the first wizarding war didn't suspect him. It wasn’t until Crouch Jr/Moody took Harry away after the third task did Dumbledore suspect him.
With the marauders map, in the book, Harry actually did see Barty Crouch on the map in Snape 's office. This was when Harry went at night to the prefect's bathroom to figure out the egg, but his foot got caught in the trick step in the staircase and he dropped the map. Moody (aka Barry Crouch) then picks up the map after realizing Harry is there and after looking at it, asks Harry if he can keep it for a while and Harry says yes. (There is more that happens here in the story, but in regards to the map this is what I think is important)
If Dumbledore did know the truth, it definitely would have changed things, especially since Moody was responsible for making it so Harry and Cedric ended up in the graveyard. Then again, Dumbledore had his own plan for Harry.
Then that presents a question would Dumbledore intentionally put Harry and the contestants in danger or risk a death of a student because if he was meeting with other powerful wizarding schools without the ministry there they would have started the unbridged plot sooner or was Dumbledore just too distracted to realize that there was a spy among his professors?
A thing worth considering: Legilimency requires strict eye-to-eye contact in order to work almost at all. The fact that Barty disguised as Moody was missing a normal eye probably prevented Dumbeldore from gleaming anything suspicious going on in his mind whenever they were together. Normally he can read people like a book, but not him.
@pretty angel he talks about it with Harry in Half Blood Prince(modestly of course), saying he's an accomplished enough legilimens himself and that when he spoke to Moffin knew he had been framed..
It does not require strict eye to eye contact though that does make it easier. My theory is that with Moody's training as an auror, he probably wasn't just exceptional in occlumency but could easily tell if someone was trying to use Legilimency on him. If this is the case then Dumbledore may have actually feared using it in case he was wrong and it WAS Moody and potentially damaged their relationship.
You missed a couple points. 1. Dumbledore had the memory of Barty’s trial in the pensive. 2. He knew to get Winkie before he started questioning Barty. I believe the red flags and Barty Crouch Sr.’s behavior roused his suspension and he had already put two and two together by the time he told Harry good luck on the third task.
Here's an idea. What if Harry and his friends, teachers, etc. took place in the 1920's when Grindelwald was at large and they had to defeat him instead? Would they win or lose
They definitely wouldn't take care of him that much because Grindewald would have no motive to kill Harry or attack him at school since he was afraid of Dumbledore which is also the reason why he didn't touch Britain.
@@Kubinda12345 He would have a slight motivation to go after Harry but not to kill him. Since we know Grindelwald wanted to possess the deathly hallows he would try to get the cloak from Harry and besides Dumbledore wouldn't be able to stop him anyway because of the blood pact and even if he was able to steal it from Grindelwald it would take a while to destroy it and he would most likely get the cloak by then. Plus Ron's dad works for the ministry and Grindelwald was on a mission to make them look bad and Hermione is from a muggle family so I feel like those few reasons would be enough to convince harry and his friends to try to stop him but the question is could they succeed
@@xoler2167 It's a question whether Grindewald would even find out that Potters had the cloak. He didn't found out in the canon timeline and Dumbledore deduced it only after James told him about his adventures with the cloak.
@@Kubinda12345 That is true and plus I think Grindelwald wanted to gain enough followers first before finding the stone and cloak and we know Dumbledore stopped him before he could. However, in this alternate scenario, it would be more difficult and probably take longer for Dumbledore to steal the blood pact since Newt's pet wouldn't be there to take it which gives Grindelwald a lot more time to gain more followers and then go after the deathly hallows. I think Harry's parents would die from one of the followers rather than Grindelwald himself so that way James would still leave Dumbledore the cloak and then Harry would receive it which gives Grindelwald a reason to go after him and for Harry to fight back
I have actually seen Brendon Gleason in person in a shop I did not say anything as I was only 9 but my brother on the other hand went up to him and said ‘hi my sister really likes Harry Potter’ and when I tell you that I went red I mean tomato face 🍅
Part of the magic of the books is the way actions contradict each other. The reader constantly weighs new evidence. I too thought turning Malfoy into a ferret, etc., indicated that Moody wasn't OK. But then his name was Madeye and he had been horribly injured as an auror so he could be a little crazy if he wanted to be. Meanwhile Dumbledore had to be distracted with everything that was happening that year. No one in the books is an absolute hero. All have their faults and failures.
Personally I also think that Dumbledore realized that the spy was masking as Moody only when Crouch removed Harry from Dumbledore's sight. The problem with the Marauder's Map theory is that Dumbledore didn't know about it and found out about its existence only during Crouch's interrogation when Crouch mentioned it. However I also think that Dumbledore knew that Crouch was the enemy agent. He was watching Crouch's trial and when he stunned "Moody" he immediatelly called Winky even before the Polyjuice stopped working.
Harry did see Crouch on the map but it doesn't recognize Jr or Sr so he just thought that it was Barty Crouch Sr visiting the castle for some thing to do with the Triwizard tournament.
Woo yay anyone else here since the announcement? Really interesting topic too, great analysis and video as always! Dumbledores had known for ages as a good friend. However Barty would have been really careful and had found out a lot about his habits etc
I think Dumbledore' knew, when Mr crouch disappeared, that it has something to do with the crouches he just didn't know who exactly, Dumbledore'was looking at his memories in the pensive to find what he may have missed. He purposely left the pensive out so Harry could accidentally view those memories, we didn't know at the time but he was grooming Harry to be a detective/dark wizard hunter, to keep the power of darkness in check.
Agreed. Dumbledore is super intelligent, but not all knowing. Remember he was able to be tricked by a traitor back in the 1st wizarding war and that led to the Potter's death. Now being smart Dumbledore was probably aware a few Death Eaters had escaped prison and who they were. But who was doing what and what the plans were is another matter. Also Moody was long since suspected to have gone mad. He was always paranoid, so even the in the Draco-animal incident seemed to be him protecting Harry and he didn't do any long term harm. If anything that made him seem more genuine as he looked like he protected Harry and hated the Malfoy's. It as quite the genius move as everyone would think he'd be on the Malfoy's side and out to kill Harry Potter.
@@JesseLucas2013 the popularity of her book is irrelevant. Her series is a children's series and it doesn't just have minor plot holes. There are major inconsistencies and problems with her writing.
Surprised that Dumbledore did not investigate further after Harry was chosen. After all, Harry was only a fourth-year (minimum age would have been at least a sixth-year).
Harry saw Barty Crouch on the Marauders map, but thought it was Crouch Sr right? Then Moody (Crouch Jr) stole the map during some scene with Snape, right?
I think in the book there was a reason dumbledore let him teach?? Something to do with good publicity for the school or something, I haven't read in a long time tho, so don't quote me! I do remember in the book dumbledore was very aware that Lockhart was a fraud and didn't like him very much lol
Hagrid pointed out he was the only one who wanted the job, because by then everyone thought it was cursed. And that was why he hired Lockhart, but also to try to get him to say he was a fraud.
Keep in mind that the techniques described in Lockhart's books were apparently accurate. If students studied from the books, they would learn useful defensive techniques. So the year isn't entirely wasted.
Your discourse of why he didn't realize who crouch really was, really fits the circumstances of the situation. I wouldn't be able to tell either until that time as well
Since the story is pretty much told from Harry's point of view, it is quite possible that "Moody" was told after that lesson don't do that again (demonstrate the Unforgiveable Curses). And he doesn't. When was the last time Dumbledore truly talked with Moody? We are told through out the early parts of Goblet that Moody has changed--become much more paranoid, weird and whatever. And thats before we meet him. Its a marvelous introduction and misdirection because we just think of Moody as being really eccentric not a fake. And if Moody avoided the staff and Dumbledore as mush as possible, he could stay hidden. The one he would really want to avoid is Snape. So "Moody" starts harassing Snape, making sure that man would not want to investigate anything.
Too bad we never got Sirius explaining how the map works to Harry. For all we know, one of the four came up with a way to ignore invisibility cloaks. James and Sirius were basically like Fred and George.
I’ve long felt like he knew but didn’t care because he believed it would be the best for Harry’s development to become who he needed to be to defeat Voldemort. I’ve been thinking this since the video on why Dumbledore never help Sirius. I think the whole wizarding war is just a sociopathic good vs evil chess match between Dumbledore and Voldemort.
I watched the goblet of fire again recently and I noticed as Harry walks into the maze, you can see Dumbledore looking at Mad Eye (Barty Crouch Jr) as if he suspects him of something so I think towards the end he really did suspect him of doing something.
Good theory. I think Dumbledore started to become suspicious, and didn't know for sure until BCJ took Harry away. I also think the real Moody was an Oclumens, and BCJ became one as well.
Because Dumbledore was busy trying to find Voldemort keep Harry in the school safe find horcruxes work with the ministry arrange the Triwizard tournament his position on the wizarngamut, his duties as headmaster, whatever personal activities he likes to engage in, any little odd jobs he performs to help others cuz you know he's a philanthropist, his duties with order of the Phoenix, trying to calm everyone down when Harry was entered in to the tournament and find out why he was... Let's just say Dumbledore probably didn't get a lot of sleep and trying to figure out if his old friend from the ministry was a spy wasn't his top priority nor was it even on his mind
Was Dumbledore hunting Horcruxes at that point? He also didn’t have the order of the Phoenix back together until after Goblet of fire (when he knew Voldemort was back)
I think a contributing factor is that Barty Crouch even took on Moody's mannerisms. It's noted in the book that the real Moody only ever drank from his own hipflask, and that made it easier for Barty to swig Polyjuice Potion. Even comments like "its my job to think like Dark Wizards do Karkaroff, as you may remember", given that Moody caught Karkaroff initially.
I have a video suggestion: How did Dumbledore know about everything that happened at hogwarts? Also...Voldemort mentioned how Harry was watched closer than he knew, how did Dumbledore watch over Harry (other than Mrs Figg did he use other means to keep a close eye on him?...what about while he was at Hogwarts....it’s not as if he could’ve had Harry followed at the school) 🤷♀️
I read a fanfiction of the story through the eyes of Dumbledore.. that used the portraits of all the old headmasters to spy on harry through all the portraits because they can move around the portraits through the entire castle. I think that is possible because as a student you won't watch the portraits so many times. So I thought that idea was quite believable
This is not related to the topic at all but what’s always bothered me is the inconsistency in Ron’s facial expression in the scene when Harry gets called down by Dumbledore cause his name came up. When the camera angle switches. 5:51 vs 5:52 😂
I think when Barty said where are the others? In the graveyard? where are the others? and harry said ah ah I did'nt say anything about the graveyard. Dumbeldore overheard the conversation and ran into the room realize that this Moody was a fake
honestly dumbledore not noticing that something was up with moody is sort of in character for him, dumbledore is known for being extremely fast to trust people to a fault so it stands to reason that this would be even more so the case with someone who had already earned dumbledores trust in the past. also dumbledore is known for letting a lot of shit slide when it comes to his teachers being grossly incompetent or abusive. one thing you did neglect to mention is snape. dumbledore is known to put a lot of trust in snapes judgement and snape and crouch where at odds with each other basically from day one and i am 100% sure snape would have been able to deduce that SOMEONE in hogwarts was making polyjuice potion based on the stuff missing from his office and it wouldn't have been difficult for snape to narrow it down to one of the adult staff as occlumency isn't commonly taught at hogwarts, so he'd be very much able to rule out any students being up to mischief.
@@silvergirlXO i know, the thing is that snape actually confronted harry about it and used legilimency to see if harry was lying, the book even mentions that harry suspects that snape knows when he's lying, which he wasn't at the time since harry had never stolen anything from snape.
if you go back to when Harry dives through Snapes memories in the deathly hallows there is one where Dumbledore asks Snape to keep a close on on moody. which seems like Dumbledore did suspect something
I thought the curses in class were suspicious. Didn't Moody disapprove of their use, even when it was legal for aurors? Also, he was a member of the original order and even attended the trial. He most likely would never dare use crucio in front of Frank and Alice's son, and Dumbledore should've realised this. On the other hand, Moody had been said to have lost the plot a little so he probably put it down to that.
I believe Dumbledore new all along he was just trying to keep his enemies close honestly I believe believe from the beginning that he knew that that wasn't the real Alastor Moody I know in the movies they make that part clear it's not as clear in the books
Whose to say that Barty Jr when he overpowered Moody didn't use Veritaserum to get all he needed to do a complete impersonation. As to using the map, they did only I'd didn't differentiate between Jr and Sr so they had no reason to suspect that it wasn't Sr talking with Moody about the tournament.
Please answer this question: How did Harry get the Marauders Map back from Mad Eye? This has seriously bugged me. Dumbledore learns of the map during Crouch's confession and then nothing.... He just has it back right when he is trying to see the 7th floor corridor, where the room of requirement is, is cleared. I was always so confused and have listened to the audio books 20 times and can't remember a reference for him getting it back.
Barty Crouch Sr. figured out the imposter's identity because it was his son. Nobody else would have as much insight into Barty Crouch Jr. as his own father. Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to tell anyone. Nobody else was suspicious of Moody because he was a mentally scarred ex Auror. Moody was someone who would never work for Voldemort and he was said to be a bit crazy. Plus, he was always drinking out of a bottle, so Harry thought he had developed a drinking problem.
@@williamfincher2260 it’s very strange the part when he turned draco Malfoy into a weasel and Professor Minerva McGonagall didn’t know also how odd moody would even do that not only that the stolen potions that Snape used accusing harry taking his potions
@@louistudor1086 Erratic behavior is common among war veterans with psychological problems. Moody was forced to resign as an autor because of his paranoia and PTSD, not his injuries. A common psychological issue among war veterans with PTSD is alcoholism or drug addiction. Both of those are unhealthy coping mechanisms that can also affect behavior. Harry was implied to have believed Moody was drinking alcohol from the flask. It would be incredibly hard to get suspicious of erratic behavior from someone who is, as Ron said, "mad as a hatter." Snape often has deal with students stealing potion ingredients from him for unauthorized brewing. Snape wasn't prepared for teachers stealing inventory. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were the only ones who had a history of brewing polyjuice potion.
I think the scene when Crouch as Moody demo’ed the Unforgivable curses was a big red flag. He tortured the creature right in Neville’s face which made him visibly uncomfortable. Crouch’s true colors showed but he was able to quickly recover.
Well u can't expect someone to have "ALL" the answers. There r time when something or some one slips through the cracks now and then. I read the chapter once years ago, have to go back over to verify, that Moody said that Crouch studied his work that he was gonna teach the kids. So that helped in impostering Mad-Eye down to the latter, and not making things up.
On your last point, considering that the real Moody technically WAS at Hogwarts the whole year... assuming someone would have looked for Moody on the Marauder’s Map, wouldn’t they find him “in his office” every time? (Assuming the luggage wasn’t “unplottable.” or that since the marauders could never predict an extra hidden place at Hogwarts, would he not show up?) like since the marauders didn’t know about the unknowable room, or the chamber of secrets, people in these rooms would not show on the map? Now, assuming the map could recognize real Moody as being at Hogwarts (in the luggage), if you’re not seeing the imposter Moody (Crouch), and you see the map working as it should, perhaps nothing would seem amiss, other than seeing Crouch at Hogwarts near Moody (or a different area). Of course, after the first task, some time in Jan/Feb, (I don’t remember the date, but the night that Harry uses the prefect bathroom to find out the egg clue), faux Moody had possession of the map full time, so it’d be unlikely Harry might just happen to notice anything odd going on.
Thing is, he almost was betrayed by the map. Harry saw him in Snapes office labeled as 'Barty crouch' or 'Bartemeious Crouch' (I cant recall wich) when he was sneaking back from the prefect's bath, but he was trapped in the sinking stair while under the cloak and dropped both the map and egg. Then everuone showed up at the noise, the False moody helped Harry out of a jam and then asked Harry if he could borrow the map before Harry could get a look at it
but does the canon not refute the idea that polyjuice might fool the map? i know it says you appear on the map even under invisibility cloaks but when you are under a cloak its still you....
ironicly in the books they did explore the map possiblility but barty crouch realized that it could be too risky to leave the map with harry so he took it
If I remember right Bardy took the map from Harry during the year forgot the reason he used though. I may look for the scene in my copy,(while pretending to be Moody), possibly before learning about him. Edit: If he did I don't know if Peter told him about the map. But I will edit my comment if I find the page where this happened of the map being given to the imposter Moody.
I have to disagree that (the real) Moody was a by-the-book auror and wouldn’t do anything the Ministry would disapprove of. As Moody (BC Jr playing Moody) he introduced himself as a Ministry malcontent.
In the book harry did use the marauders map! The movie leaves out a lot of scenes! Harry just doesn't figure out why he sees crouch jr on the map but meets " moody" instead. He thinks he has just missed him and is hiding from snape under his invisibility cloak.
I saw a video that explained this once. Moody was so easy to mimic bc he was so paranoid. Since he was playing a paranoid person he didn’t really have to hang around other people too much bc people would have expected it. He only ate and drank stuff that he prepared himself bc he was scared of being poisoned. He had major injuries so he had saw real combat. It’s safe to say he probably had major PTSD to go along with his paranoia. So Moody was the perfect person to impersonate since he probably would have kept to himself most of the time anyway. And none of the students would have really known him so he wouldn’t raise any red flags. And he seemed like the kind of person who would keep his circle small so most of the teachers probably wouldn’t be worried either. They would all see him as the paranoid man that everyone describes.
I hate to complain, but for future videos could you please make the volume louder? The last several were hard for me to hear... even though I have it as loud as I can make it and I don't want to miss a word. Much appreciated.
Was the real Moody visible on the map while in the trunk inside his office? I don't think it's ever mentioned. But if he was, there'd be a lot of times of Barty and Moody being in his office together.
The thing is your point about the marauders map it showed Barty Crouch Junior which is why Harry investigated it but I don’t think Dumbledore was aware of the map at this point also I always wondered why we never saw Moody’s name on there.
I feel like Dumbledore did know, he was using the pensieve to recount the last encounter of Karkaroff and Crouch Jr. some could say that was just exposition, but I think it meant that if Albus didn’t know already he had his suspicions. Problem is that he had no proof
I dont think that's it at all. Dumbledore has been playing this decade long chess game. He has been the mastermind behind Ultimately setting up Voldemorts defeat. He put all the pieces in place to let Harry knock it out of the park as it were. He needed voldemort to come back now and not later. He knew but he knew he had to finish it while he was still alive.
If you read the book, you'll discover that at some point he actually knows. But Snape had advised him to let things play out (unfold) as Snape had put it to let the true meaning of the events that were happening at that time..
@@stanbeyani5089 I have read the book, hence my question, as I don’t need remember that exact detail. You can answer the question, nicely, without being pompous and presumptuous.
Not in the movie cuz it cut like all that stuff out, but in the Book Moody had taken the map from Harry, once he figured out what it could do that is, that map could ruin his entire plan.
I will always think that, at the end of the movie, Barty should have reverted to his real form BEFORE Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall arrived. It would have been very nice if Barty had some dialogue with Harry when in his true form.
There was something about Dumbledore also wonder frustrated around in his office during the Goblet of fire. I have got to wonder though, why did Dumbledore ask Harry if he has had the dream multiple times? Is there a meaning that if you dream the same thing several times, then it becomes real, or it's a vision and not a dream, or something third?
An adjacent question of this theory I've always had was why did the polyjuice potion seem to have a rougher effect on Barty Crouch Jr when it wore off than it ever did on Harry, Ron, and Hermione when they took it? That's always puzzled me. Maybe Barty's brew was more potent?

Lose. Grindlewald would kick Voldemort’s ass

Barty didn't hurt students but he did turn Draco into a Ferret. But that's just because Moody was going crazy at the time according to the books 😂
Take a moment to realise barty was one of the best dark arts teacher ever!
Harry did see Crouch on the map but it doesn't recognize Jr or Sr so he just thought that it was Barty Crouch Sr visiting the castle for some thing to do with the Triwizard tournament.

Harry should kept Map and show to Snape and Headmaster
HAHAHAHAHHAA "but that absolutely shits on the entire plot" I never actually considered just how many plot hole mistakes are in goblet of fire
The same headmaster DID waste a year of DADA on Lockhart....
As one comic put it: "I hope Harry kills this one too"
Keep in mind that the techniques described in Lockhart's books were apparently accurate.
In the book, he does have them all try to fight the imperius curse at some point after that lesson.
That Marauders Map theory just blew my mind...idk why I never thought of that plot hole 🤯

I read a fanfiction of the story through the eyes of Dumbledore.. that used the portraits of all the old headmasters to spy on harry through all the portraits because they can move around the portraits through the entire castle.

honestly dumbledore not noticing that something was up with moody is sort of in character for him, dumbledore is known for being extremely fast to trust people to a fault so it stands to reason that this would be even more so the case with someone who had already earned dumbledores trust in the past.
also dumbledore is known for letting a lot of shit slide when it comes to his teachers being grossly incompetent or abusive.
one thing you did neglect to mention is snape. dumbledore is known to put a lot of trust in snapes judgement and snape and crouch where at odds with each other basically from day one and i am 100% sure snape would have been able to deduce that SOMEONE in hogwarts was making polyjuice potion based on the stuff missing from his office and it wouldn't have been difficult for snape to narrow it down to one of the adult staff as occlumency isn't commonly taught at hogwarts, so he'd be very much able to rule out any students being up to mischief.

i know, the thing is that snape actually confronted harry about it and used legilimency to see if harry was lying, the book even mentions that harry suspects that snape knows when he's lying, which he wasn't at the time since harry had never stolen anything from snape.

if you go back to when Harry dives through Snapes memories in the deathly hallows there is one where Dumbledore asks Snape to keep a close on on moody. which seems like Dumbledore did suspect something
I've always wanted to know is why Harry , Fred or George never noticed Pettigrew (Scabbers) on the Marauders map up until he was revealed by Sirius .

As to using the map, they did only I'd didn't differentiate between Jr and Sr so they had no reason to suspect that it wasn't Sr talking with Moody about the tournament.

I wanna say it was in Crouch's trunk
Barty Crouch Sr. figured out the imposter's identity because it was his son. Nobody else would have as much insight into Barty Crouch Jr. as his own father. Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to tell anyone. Nobody else was suspicious of Moody because he was a mentally scarred ex Auror. Moody was someone who would never work for Voldemort and he was said to be a bit crazy. Plus, he was always drinking out of a bottle, so Harry thought he had developed a drinking problem.
Sadly Dumbledore never knew he was imposter only Barty crouch sr knew him from the tongue lick in that scene when harry just finished his second task

I could buy real Moody doing that lesson in a similar way though. Dumbledore pretty much let the teachers do the job their way.
Dumbledore also seems to not act until he has evidence. Or he’s the last resort.
He knew about the horcruxes but needed to confirm it.
You know I've always wondered about this 🤔🤔
On your last point, considering that the real Moody technically WAS at Hogwarts the whole year... assuming someone would have looked for Moody on the Marauder’s Map, wouldn’t they find him “in his office” every time?
Then everuone showed up at the noise, the False moody helped Harry out of a jam and then asked Harry if he could borrow the map before Harry could get a look at it
Here's an idea: What if Draco Malfoy went to Durmstrang?
Pls make a video on it I love your channel

I have to disagree that (the real) Moody was a by-the-book auror and wouldn’t do anything the Ministry would disapprove of. As Moody (BC Jr playing Moody) he introduced himself as a Ministry malcontent.
"guess the imposter correctly" someone had been playing Among Us
In the book harry did use the marauders map!
Barty Crouch had been using Polyjuice Potion. If that potion had changed his voice, would it also have erased the Dark Mark as well?
Was the real Moody visible on the map while in the trunk inside his office? I don't think it's ever mentioned. But if he was, there'd be a lot of times of Barty and Moody being in his office together.
But didn’t Moody ask to keep the map when he helped Harry on the staircase?
I mean, they did see him on the map. Or Harry did at least. But the map isn't specific enough to distinguish people who have the same names...
I always thought this when watching the movie. How could Dumbledore not know about it
