    Just some small tips
    1. Prisoners don't need recreation. At all.
    2. It's a good idea to strip prisoners before releasing or killing them.
    3. It's safer to not leave weapons lying inside prison cells.

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  6 років тому +25

      Yes very good tips dude 😊 Didn't realize that prisoners didn't benefit from recreation. I always just kinda assumed they did, but now I think about it yeah that's not something covered in their needs.

      Agree, they don't need recreation, but i avoid mostly multi-cells. Double walls, an entry sas, this avoid prison breaks. Holding them alone avoid the beserk one the other, and do prison breaks together, this happens often with 2 and more in the same cell. But prisons need be clean, like rooms and the rest. Dirt or worse blood is never good.

      Srithor as a slaver who frequently gives healthy people wooden prosthetics and then cuts them off to train my doctor, then sews those prosthetics back to sell people to tribal, primitive slavers who live just down the road, i find your low standards of “destroying lives” to be very naive.

    Really awesome, again! So, I will start dealing drugs AND build my kill box. LOL! I had been staying away from the drug crops because I was afraid my little people would get addicted and go crazy if I ran out! Watching these guides makes me want to start over. I only have two IRL days into this colony, so I figure I will. Really great tips! THANK YOU for taking time to share this! (And keep showing your face. It helps with engagement!!) (I avoided it till recently, but all the research says it is a good thing to do)!!

    • @diggles27
      @diggles27 5 років тому +2

      You can set up a drug policy where your colonists are not allowed to use them, unless they're addicts they'll follow this

    • @ВиталяКекс-ц6е
      @ВиталяКекс-ц6е 4 роки тому

      Jenny Post i too stayed clear of the drug crops, but they are actually very helpful. Beer for example provides 10 mood for one, completely safe drink at the expense of -2% work. I really recommend it, as when you go into late game and the expectations rise, it helps to compensate, and when combined with all 3 rooms (entertainment room, dining room and bedroom) being nice (+5 per each, not all that difficult to achieve, two small statues will do the job just fine) it alone can keep your colonists happy.
      Smokeleaf gives +12 mood at the expense of really slowing down work, so i wouldn’t recommend using that, however it can be very useful to prevent mental breaks. Your colonist is about to throw a tantrum and destroy the nuclear warhead? Manually order him to smoke some weed, and tomorrow he’ll be as good as new.
      The thing about easy drugs is that their addictions builds up and decreases, so if you don’t overdose on them and only take one per 1-2 days, you’ll never get addicted.
      Now hard drugs have a very unpleasant effect: instead of tolerance, they can get you addicted on the first try. Fortunately, this isn’t all that bad, let’s look at some scenarios:
      1. Your stock runs out while someone is addicted. Besides the obvious “get a dose by whatever means necessary”, you can wait till your pawn breaks, and arrest him.
      There’s multiple ways to proceed from here: first, the mainstream option. Replace both his legs with wooden prosthetics, then cut them off. The pawn will stay in bed permanently and won’t have any breaks. Then when the addiction is gone, give him bionic legs and set him free, and he’ll rejoin your colony automatically.
      Option two, just endure whatever breaks he may have. Fight him with bare hands, so there’s little chance of death.
      2. Your pawn has 50% tolerance and gets chemical damage in either kidneys or brain. Now, the solution to kidney problem is obvious, find a healthy donor from the raiding party. The brain is tricky though.
      I advise to either install a mod about bionic brains, or to save scum until it’s kidneys who are affected.

    what would you say is the most objectively best money maker outside of growing plants but isint a huge barrier for entry with resources? I find art to be helpful whenever I reach a point where all the basic needs and defenses are in relative order, using granite. Ive never really tried to "Breed" Or sell prisoners, because I can usually find taders more often who will take art/drugs if I produce both in case one or the other isint available for selling. Because animals and prisoners require decent upkeep for early game or mid game after a terrible chain of events.

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  6 років тому

      Hmm so firstly use Marble if you can for artworks. Marble adds more beauty (possibly more value not sure). I've never really bred animals for money, but clothing can be a decent money maker, sometimes raw stone blocks too (especially if your digging out an underground base), furniture can also make money. I generally find the 'money crops' are best overall, but some of these others can work good situationally 😊

      What's taders precious? What's taders aye?

    • @guiagaston7273
      @guiagaston7273 5 років тому +2

      in second place for me it's Drugs. They make a lot of money but there is a risk that colonists use it when they go mental.
      First place for me is clothing. So much profit and sooo many traders and factions want to buy it. Loading up a caravan with clothing you made and have them walk to an ally is pretty OP. Especially because it's lightweight in contrast to say art. So you can take a lot with very few ppl/animals.
      I underestimated the whole world map for far to long and I suspect many new/intermediate players do to because at first sight it can be pretty scary to leave the safety of you base behind. I sure know at least for me it was.

    Would it make more sense to have a farm on rich soil that takes an hour in game time to travel to either way. or move the farm to normal soil? Using corn as the plant because it produces about same amount per day as rice does. But would require less work overall with sowing and harvesting. Reason why is because the rich soil is next to an ancient ruin and currently early game so can only use other caravans to kill them for me. And don't want risk of them getting set free from molotov throwers or other explosives. The mechs have already been killed inside. wanting to save those asleep for when I'm more mid game so the items would be used more effectively, instead of wearing them down sooner or taking up storage space.
    Would keep the plant to corn because it still best per day production of food. But is the travel time worth it for the speed increase? Also does rich soil produce more crops or just quicker?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  4 роки тому

      Rich soil doesn't provide more yield, it just speeds up grow time. Deciding what crop to plant depends on the needs of your colony. Simply; higher yield, slow growing crops like corn will require less work from your colonist assigned to growing. But will mean your colony will have to wait longer between harvests meaning you'll need larger food reserves.

    Why recruit prisoners when u can sacrifice them for cthulu lmao

  • @skavies2351
    @skavies2351 5 років тому +6

    I kinda like making my prisoners suffer as much as possible, it's far better for my colony, and yourse. I could make a nice spacious jail and make them happy and easier to recruit, or I could make them a hell hole drive them insane and profit in many many ways and still get my recruits, only now I'm much better off than the nice way.
    Your way:
    Big clean room with furniture and temperature control and fancy art to make them happy and easily recruitable.
    Benefits:
    1. Faster recruitment. ...Um, I'm going to leave this here, but only because it sorta fits with your video. In reality, there should be no benefits at all your way.
    Drawbacks:
    1. Waste of resources for beds, tables, walls, floors, art, whatever you put in it.
    2. Waste of opportunities for gaining experience in many, many ways.
    3. You still need a corpse disposal whether it's a burn pile/corpse furnace or graves.
    4. This counts towards your colony wealth which is what determines the strength of incoming raids.
    My way:
    Small room with lots of ground sleeping spots (preferably in the mud), not in home zone so it's never cleaned and a corpse stockpile so they sleep on the ground on the corpses of their friends. (I am trying to make them go berserk as much as possible).
    Benefits:
    1. Warden gets to spend more time leveling speech lowering resistance of prisoners before I decide to recruit or use for medical experience. This improves my trade skill for buying and selling stuff.
    2. Combat experience subduing the now naked and unarmed prisoners going berserk, some of which are further gimped by having wooden legs and arms because I know I don't want them in my colony.
    3. Construction experience repairing damaged doors and walls from when the experience fountains go nuts.
    4. Medical experience patching up bruises and cuts from the constant fights.
    5. More medical experience for installing peg legs and arms.
    6. Even more medical experience later on when I harvest each organ I can without a guaranteed death.
    7. I have my corpse storage and disposal by feeding them said corpses which of course saves me food and earns even more experience for the first 4 benefits.
    8. A new prisoner or a recaptured one after going berserk has a "guilty" tag on them for 24 hours in which time you can use them as practice for your doctors without the risk of the colonists getting a nasty "innocent prisoner died" mood debuff. This lets me use all prisoners to level up social and other skills and still use them later on after their resistance is broken as medical test dummies without my colony getting too annoyed.
    9. Organs to use as replacements for my colonists or to sell for large cash infusions.
    The next 4 are only benefits if you have at least one psychopath or canibal to do the butchering, otherwise the mood debuff is not worth it.
    10. Cooking experience for butchering human corpses (use a psychopath or canibal for this)
    11. Human leather for clothing for your psychopath will give him permanent +2 mood per piece of human clothing worn.
    12. Human leather clothing sells for a lot of money.
    13. A meal made in a nutrient paste dispenser only takes 6 ingredients, not 10 like simple or normal meals, so you get more than twice as many meals (butchering gives more than feeding corpses directly, plus the 60% cost for a meal in the paste dispenser...)
    Drawbacks:
    1.You can't have a stockpile zone in a sleeping spot, so I have to either give them a larger room with a permanent corpse stockpile, or periodically delete a sleeping spot with a corpse stockpile, move in the corpses then put back the sleeping spots removed. This gets annoying enough that I normally give in and let them have a larger room.
    2. it's very rare, but I have lost a few prisoners I wanted to recruit. I can think of 4 with over a thousand hours played, it's probably over 10, but even still, this almost shouldn't be here since it's that rare, but I wanted to be fair.
    I'm pretty sure my way is better, but if I missed anything please correct me, I'd love to test it out and learn new things.
