@@altraffie20Blazer and Explorer of the time didn't fare much better, Blazer is one of the worst along with the late 90s astro van... Only the Jap cars fared best at the time .. The XJ actually does quite well to me for a 15 year old design at the time. Was at least marginal besides the foot well. ZJ did very well compared to it's domestics besides the same footwell issue... Solid axles is to blame for the footwell I'd say. Rather have a broken foot than fall out the opening door mid accident...

No. Bumper wouldn't do a thing. The frame on these is very wiggly and fragile. Put a cage in something that can't handle the redistribution of forces in a crash will honestly probably make it more of a deathtrap Edit: welding 2 or 3 x braces on the frame and a steel triangle brace below the footwells might help it a little bit in moderate overlap
The front driver side wheel in the footwell 😱😱😱😱😱that is downright terrifying
Agree!
@@Ozarkwild the Cherokee was such a death trap they sold almost 3 million of them😂😂

If you ever wondered why new Ford Broncos have those removable crash bars in the wheel well, this is why.

Do you think a roll cage would help it as well a better front bumper?

There is no frame, they are unibody. Fun fact they're actually the first unibody SUV in North America@@MandarFahrren1299
I have a roll cage in mine so I should be good
Overall evaluation: Marginal
Yeah the new Cherokee is much safer
