Now that, for dummies like me, is magic. I'm soaking it all up like a sponge Justin - whether I can retain it and then regurgitate it when I need it ...... well, that's a different story altogether! And the next one is eagerly awaiting fellas, thank you for uploading!
Awesome upload, I have a paver drive to do and this helps me so much. Great channel, I have learnt loads from a good mix to making curved steps, keeps these videos coming please
Another excellent tutorial by you lads . Looks smart as ever . Glad you explained the base as it looked like kitty litter especially when you were on your knees pawing it .😂😂😉🧱👍🏽
I’m going to be doing my 30 sq metre driveway this Summer. I’m a builder but never done block paving and this vid was so helpful. I have a few questions If any experts can help. I have paving going up to 3 walls. Is it best to get all the borders made up of block paving in first before infill of blocks ? Some people say they need setting in a dry mix concrete but is that necessary? I’ve had my dropped kerb done to drive over and they have installed the concrete edging to tue tarmac pavement . When starting the infill is it necessary to find the centre of the driveway and set the block paving from that or do you Just start on the top corner near the garage door? I’m thinking of a herringbone design . Also I’m seeing some vids where they also use a waker plate on the freshly levelled sand using the rails but won’t that just make it not perfectly flat again?
We add the board last . No need to set in concrete as long as you have a hard edge . No need to start central. We do wack the sand the add the rails and drag off that.👍
How much do you allow for compaction when setting the screed height? Obviously less than sharp sand but I’ve seen some comments online saying if you compact before screeding you can set the screed to the correct level for the pavers and then won’t compact further?
Id say it will still go down around 5mm ish Ryan in my experience it will definitely go down it won't just stay where it is as you say not in my opinion mate 👍
Those screed rails look the bees knees, I finished an 81m2 drive last week, I used 6mm as I saw it on one of your old videos, I was sceptical but it turned out to be a brilliant alternative to dust, so thanks mate, do you advise your clients to seal the blocks?
Hello. This is the second video of yours I have watched and in the first one you were using mot and sand and in this one you used 6mm chippings, as it rains a lot in the UK these days no matter where you are lol, I need to re do my drive after having employed a cowboy to do the job 6 years ago and now it has sunk where i have been putting my van on it. do I mot and whack it down to 100mm of line then put in 50mm of chippings or is the depth of chippings needed less than the 50mm of sand. thanks for the advise in advance
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping ok thanks for the reply. I am assuming if using the chippings instead of sand, the depth should be the same as if using sand 50mm
Hi Justin Hope your well and all is good mate Oh me back watching that mate 😂😂 yep clippings are the way to go what with the weather and wet ground pal avoids as lumps in the future , great explanation of work pal , and fraz is a u tube star now pal ??? Keep safe and warm this week mate all the best 👍❤️
Hi John Been thinking about you mate .Hope your well mate .weather has turned wet as it has all over the uk its a nightmare for us . Yea defo chippings arw way better than sand in my opinion mate . You to john good luck to you and the lads next week .Nice to here from you be safe 👍🙌
@patrykczuba4064 The empty into the joining flower bed . If that doesn't work for you consider a soakaway .also id ask your local council for the requirements you need to adhere to 🙌
We had a drive installed yesterday and they did not do any screeding 🤷🏼♀️ We chose grey bricks but where the sand hadn’t been swept in enough at the end, the bricks look discoloured and there is still loose sand all over the drive. My husband tried sweeping it in last night but he didn’t really get anywhere. We also chose a different design but because the boss guy didn’t like it, he sent us the pattern that he’d be getting his team to do 👎🏻 Bit of a disaster really 😞
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Oh it’s got a lot worse 🤦🏼♀️ We now have hundreds of ants burrowing out of different areas of the drive! All the sand in between the bricks is being pushed out! We just don’t know what to do. My husband has ordered some ant repellent to put down, so I suppose we will have to see if that works. Is it normal for this to happen? We have never had ants before.
@corinnevanessa22 Yes the ants this time of year can do that unfortunately. Get rid of the ants because they can undermine the paving eventually. Your going to need to replenish the kiln dry sand in the joints periodically until the sand settles in the joints . Good luck 👍
We had to start at the top square off the building. We boarded it but 6 mm chippings you can place light foot on it so yes although i agree with you we had no choice and it didn't move and had no issues with the final finish of the work
Its compacted, and they used boards to cross over, so not gonna make a lot of impact on the screed. Also they had to start from the top so how ellse are they gonna get across

Cheers Doug mate yea cardiff wettest city in the uk mate unfortunately 😕 🤣👍
😂Shame about the rugby all round 🥲@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
If you are using lime stone instead of sand doesn’t affect the subbase, assuming the subbase isn’t permeable?
@Boxerconar93
It doesn't effect the sub base in my opinion it's better than sand
Another excellent tutorial by you lads . Looks smart as ever .

🤣🤣🤣 cheers Steve .
The cats crap in it less than sand aswell so win win 🤣🤣👍
Nice one, looks cracking 👍 I haven't noticed much rain lately 🤔🤣

I’ve subscribed and liked matey, hope all is well with you and the family.
Hi mate
Thanks for that .Yes all good with us .Hope you and the family are well and doing good Paul ♥️
I have one question, how high do you leave the block above the line to consider compression
@@jimmiephillips9421
I go about 5mm
Do you run the wacka on a low setting over the finished paving

Glad its worked for you mate.
No i advise not to seal a drive to be honest as marshalls tell us not to seal there products 👍
Amazing job! Would you come out as far as Brecon? 😂 Sorry to hear about your client at the end.
Going to his funeral now actually was very sad.
No brecon is to far im sorry about that.
Appreciate your comments 👍
Great video where do you get the screed tool from
Just google probst screeder

Yes but you can reduce the chippings to 30mm if you wanted 👍

@paulboro6036
6 mm limestone chippings paul
Would normally put a spacer under line also at the garage end to allow for compaction. 👍
Wanted it slight lower than the garage floor as the customer already has a bit of water back tracking 👍
What aco draines are connected to pls?

I use the same pipes from screwfix, finding them a bit too flimsy at the moment
The rods we use are probst screed rais very good .
Or steel electrical conduits both very robust 👍💯

Are u laying downhill there,?
I’ve paved for 20 yr and first thing I learned was always lay uphill everything always tighter
Yes

Fair comment that is.
Was coming squarw off the garage 👍
We usually set square off garage then string line off the square and just lay up the line mate, cracking job tho👍

That’s how not to do it …. You never walk on an area that’s already screeded, as a person who dose this job day in day out please do not follow this
