Hi Yvette and thanks for a really useful episode. I recently completed my first piece of hardanger, using an old chart and your videos for guidance, and I found it essential to do just as you say and test things myself first. It not only worked but gave me a lot of confidence too, and I am very happy with the outcome. Thanks so much for your no nonsense approach. Have a great break with your daughter. Denise

Great video. I think your daughter has excellent taste. Being from Melbourne myself, footy and the grand prix sounds like an excellent way to spend a weekend. I had three brothers so all my childhood I did boy things. I hope your daughter gets into her sports programme.

Great episode for a newby. My Frisian Whitework book is expected soon & I'm itching to get started. I do wonder why you were trying to find one thread that worked for all 3 stitches - would that be because we can't count on finding various weights within the same thread? I'm thinking about beginning with DMC Perle cotton which comes in multiple weights of the same color & fiber.

No, it's because they only use one weight of thread in Frisian whitework.

@@yvettestanton Ok, simple. That's probably explained in your book. I'm now listening to a fiber talk interview with you where you mention the advantages of linen thread - at least for Hardanger. I have your Elegant Hardanger book coming as well. I need to wait and read. I think I saw all whitework as one, but apparently not. Thanks for all the information you put out there in your books and videos.

I have a question about substituting Perle cotton size 12 for the preferred Londonderry 50/3 which you describe in your wonderful book Early-Style Hardanger. I have tried in vain to find a size 12 perle to match my floss and my Lugana 25-count evenweave fabric with no success. Other than scrapping the piece of cloth, I’ve been thinking of trying the size 8 perle cotton that is readily available in the color I need.
Is it possible to make a perle cotton size 8 thread work in a 25-count evenweave fabric when your directions call for a size 12 perle cotton?
What have I cotton myself into?😞

On 25 count, I'd be using Perle 5 and 8, so therefore you shouldn't even need Perle 12.
