Ichabod Crane is the kind of men I miss nowadays. Everyone is just too busy with him/herself and don't see a bigger and brighter picture like he does, not able to properly pronounce any feeling or thoughts. That is why it's so funny but feels natural how this fine, descent and outspoken gentleman struggles with our modern everyday.

The character of ichabod crane doesn't exist in real life, he is a collection of charismatic and pragmatic character traits. He was born in ink on a page. You say you miss these types of men, when have you ever met these types of men ?

@@candyman9635 I know that he doesn't exist in real life. What I meant was that the people from the 18th century used to be more social in a way. He's just naturally so sympathetic so I wonder if it was a common trade in the past

No, I'm gonna say it wasn't. This is a romanticization of the past and we do it all the time. We often tend to look at the past through a lens of nostalgia. Even for versions of the past that simply didn't exist. Take the 1950s, for example. Certain people think they sound like the most wholesome and safe time to live in. But, in reality, it was pretty awful if you weren't a white, heterosexual, Christian man.
And back in Ichabod's time? We've already romanticized it to death. Especially famous figures like the Founding Fathers. For instance, Washington didn't have wooden teeth. He took teeth from his slaves and used those. But that doesn't paint a very nice picture. Life back then was very difficult, science & healthcare were almost non-existent, prejudices like sexism & racism were pretty much universal (and homophobia? Pffft Oscar Wilde was thrown in prison almost a 100 years later in London), religion still held a very extreme grip when it came to law & life, etc. It's not to say that men like these or these values couldn't have existed but it his highly doubtful they were commonplace. I'd suggest reading a little bit of great philosophers like Voltaire. They were revolutionary in their progressiveness and ideas for equality. But while they and their views were before their time, you'll see that many of them were still very much OF their time. (And not in a good way)

Im like that but most people are dumb so I dumb myself down. So they can understand. I wish I could meet an intelligent woman. Who could understand.
