      I forgot who but I remember watching an NBA legend say he had a George Gervin Iceman poster in his room growing up. That poster of him sitting on a frozen throne (intentional warcraft 3 reference lol) while holding two ice basketballs was legendary

    The finger roll at 1:37 is the coldest move i seen in my ENTIRE LIFE. To this DAY. And im 43 years old smh..💯 straight 🔥. I can't find that roll anywhere at regular speed tho smh...

    • @citizenscapital2458
      @citizenscapital2458 2 роки тому +5

      I've seen it a regular speed, with audio. Quite chilling. Total silence, except for the uooooos and awwwwwwws. LA crowd totally appreciated what they were seeing in the moment. As a Spurs fan dating back to 1973, I was there in 1974 when Gervin arrived. As such, it was not the first time to witness that particular shot. Gervin usually execute 3 or 4 such shots per game. He really made it look routine from night to night. 52% career fg percentage. This means that for every 2 shots taken over a 12 year career, Gervin got 1 bucket.......think about that!!!! So he was not just taking shots, he was a shot maker who played with finesse but played physically @ 6'8" 180 lbs while playing in the hand check era. Gervin punished his opponents.

    The Nasty LA Finger Roll Baby At 1:37

  • @TataShvaler
    @TataShvaler 10 місяців тому +6

    As a Center in HS I obviously looked up to the big guys out there and practiced Kareem's sky hook to that level that it became automatic.
    The second move I've practiced for years was the Iceman's finger roll. To this day I still can't do it. The finger roll is the smoothest, most elegant yet toughest move to learn. I clearly failed but it looks amazing when Gervin did it.

    It's called a FINGER ROLL. Get it???
    People on here talking this Jelly S*** kill me...
    That's like someone re-naming the hook shot calling it the Arch or something.
    These young Uncle travelling Matt & carrying basketball fools of today, don't know the true history and meaning of the slightest basketball terms.

    Gervin was definitely the master of the finger roll. Clyde Drexler had one of the best finger rolls as well. James Worthy was pretty good too, but didn’t have that extra flip of the wrist.

    The fact that wilt as admitted by the kind of the finger roll and all time one on one player iceman was the first to put the finger roll on the map is insane given all the other things he’s the goat at and dominated with and introduced to the game and doing that at a center position influencing forwards and guards
    Goat by far
