You got Lolth's attention. You don't want Lolth's attention.
You want Lolth to be on your side but not that close that you eventually get sacrificed.
Lolth: "Oh, you're doing a lot of stuff that I like. That's great! I can't wait to meet you :)"
And then she either kills you so your soul is with her, or she actually visits you and you lose your mind and/or life.

your gifts you can find them under the temple. It's all fake acutatlly.
@@VITAS874 It's not fake. You make the donation to the temple, that allows the temple to expanse and get more followers and, I think (not sure if that's how it works in DnD, I think it does, but I may be mistaken) more power to the god in question. But if you take that gold back, you get cursed and attacked by a celestial. And celestials aren't summoned by the temple.

Like if Minthara invades the grove and you’re a cleric of Elistraee and are like “I WILL SHOW YOU THE POWER OF A TRUE GOD” Shadowheart disapproves bc while she’s certainly not Selûne, one of Elistraee’s domains is light, and since one of shar’s big things is darkness shadowheart naturally isn’t the biggest fan of Elistraee

She disapproves no matter who you make an offering too
According to what ive heard of Lolth you are lucky to not get covered in spiders
Or unlucky, if you're a devout follower. Depends on the point of view. 😅
Where should I pray to get covered in spiders? I'm tired of paying 100$ just to get one

Lolth from lore would of struck you down where you stood for daring to ask for help.
Really is a missed opportunity that so many times as a cleric of lolth you ask her for help and receive it instead of her fury which would of been far more on theme for her.
If Lolth never helped, there would be no cleric class for her -- and therefore, nobody would worship her. She does help. If you're worthy. She just encourages in-fighting among the clerics.
@@chesswithconstantine there is a difference in "I give you power for your worship/sacrifices" and "you begged me for help so here I go." It’s criminal this hairstyle isn’t available in character creation
MODS saved the day.
I actually understand why they didn’t do it. It makes the NPCs feel less unique when you can build yourself to look just like them. By restricting Orin’s hair to her, and Shadowheart’s to her, that makes their characters feel a tiny bit more unique, which just adds on to the incredible job by the voice actors and animation department to really build unique characters throughout the whole game.
@@mr.e822 I mean, I get that side of the debate but it's still a bit of a shame that the PC tends to end up looking a bit bland in comparison.
@@coffeekat5066 I agree with that, they should have had unique fantasy-feeling options for the MC in conjunction with having unavailable hairstyles for the companions.
@@mr.e822 Moot argument. NPCs can have their own unique hair styles, there's no problem in that.
The thing is, that hairstyles presented to PC are "safe" as if the devs deemed it too problematic to implement more complex hairstyles, like Orin's. Which is clearly not the case, because Orin is allowed to have it and it works perfectly fine for the PC, so... gib more? Nope, better make 10 different afro styles instead and give SH some bowl cut-tier of hairstyle that has no right to fit her more "mature" face.
Pity that it's a generic blessing, because it would be interesting to see how each of the deities differed in the manifestation. Haven't gotten to this part yet with my cleric of Eilistraee.
That's what I thought would happen. pretty disappointing it is a generic buff. Seems not much is unique besides some dialogue choices. I feel like the game should just let you be a cleric and offer cleric choices like the do for other classes if there isn't going to be a big difference in god choices.
I agree the buffs should be different depending on the God you are praying but I guess Larian just doesn't have the time to furnish act 3.
in this scenario it would have been a malus (Lolth hate when the ones who worship her ask for help or guidance)
It would have taken like five minutes to do different buffs for different deities, I think they just decided they did not want to do it
@@Dr.Quarex Act 3 is super rushed.
Well given the stakes, maybe even Lloth doesn't want the Absolute to win. Just enough to not shower you in spiders.
Right? Not just Lolth every god will lose their followers if the Absolute succeeds but they are all afk except for a few gods doing something about it.
There's just no right answer for this Goddess is there?
"Help me?"
Die, weakling.
"I want to help you."
Die, busybody.
"Just praying for you wellness."
You calling me inadequate? Die.
"I...OMG sorry wrong house!"
Lloth empties her entire AR15 clip through the door.
You just have to be extremely neutral when it comes to Lolth.😂
I know it's just a cutesy little side system that doesn't matter, but getting unique buffs from at least the more famous Gods, and maybe getting unique blessings if you give them specific items, eg The Blood of Lathamder to Lathander would be neat and I hope it eventually gets added
Different buffs, interaction and dialogs would be much appreciated but I don't think Larian will give us that.
@@AverageBraids Larian is pretty critical of religious institutions. So yeah, probably not.
@@Anarch_Busheyas a Catholic that’s is disheartening, but I’m not surprised.
@@xgreedxx critical doesn't necessarily mean they're outright bad -- it just doesn't pull punches against the realities of religion. there's plenty of instances of religion providing hope and strength in bg, but you also have to remember the deities are also very fallible, and a testament to why blind faith in both individuals and institutions is a bad idea.
@@ave789 problem arises when critical is bad as usually as this goes the criticism is a rhetorical cartoon view of religion based on a atheist fantasy and rhetoric, which is usually the case nowadays.
You got a -1 approval from minthara if you pray to any deity and a -5 if you pray to Lolth
🤣
That Dark Souls 3 main menu background music makes this more chilling than is necessary.
I know there’s SO much stuff in this game, but seriously it would’ve been so cool to briefly interact with your deity at an altar as they give you a blessing.
One minor thing of “difference” I noticed was my DURGE Lolth Sworn Drow on redemption path has a slightly different narrated line describing standing before the statue of Selûne than when Shadowheart approaches her:
I donated $5000-ish worth for both, but when SH approaches the Narrator ends the opening description with: “Selûne welcomes you.” Before you request her blessing. But to my character, even after my donation and coming back after a rest to get the blessing for the day. she offers the blessing and says my offering proves my devotion, but the warmer reading with “Selune Welcomes you.” Is not there.
It is a small thing.
an interaction from Lolth would be like all those "This is why australia is scary" spider videos

+2 saving throws to everything is akin to +4 in all 6 ability scores (~24 points worth) albeit w/o skill prof's...4500 gold is cheap and you get the buff all day, everyday. Thing about Saving Throws is that you never overtly see it and no one keeps count of when its really needed so it feels like nothing but for the cost, its a great 20% resist buff to debuffs and status ailments against you including slipping/shoving/knockdown/etc. It's actually really good...and cheap!
It is cheap but I'm too lazy to go to the temple everytime I rest.

Worse than that. Praying to Lolth or asking for help is a sign of weakness, so there is a possiblity that you will get eliminated.
@@AverageBraids Well yeah. Lloth is the Amber Heard of deities. Expected that much. My girl of choice is Elistraee. Your thumbnail gave me false hope in seeing her dancing with her sword when blessing me with +2 to my already OP Drow lady.

Lolth more likely to smother you in spiders for irritating her with a prayer than actually give you a blessing.
True🤣
You gotta love how you fight against the creature whose power rivals that of the gods and seeks world domination and the gods themselves still expect you to chip in on their new car before giving you a little buff.

Lolth in most depictions wouldn't have helped at all if anything in most instances it would have incurred a debuff rather than a buff.
although that debuff would likely have given way to a buff or boon after it passes.
basicly a trial
Lolth doesnt value weakness. the weak serve the strong and those who are below an allowed threshold must be culled.
you only get rewarded if you prove that you are strong. each reward must be earned with an uphill battle for ones life.
although it doesnt entirely surprise me that they went with this option because coding Lolth separately and punishing the player for choosing her would both be unnecessarily time consuming and would be a pain for the avarage player
also another reason they probably didnt include unique stuff for Lolth is that,
despite Lolth being an option Baldur's Gate isn't really a location of particular interest to Lolth.
Baldur's gate doesn't currently fall into her list of i want to merge this realm into my own. or at least its not high on that list
Lmao minthara told me to excuse her while she went to spit on the altar for lolth

My lolth-sworn drow’s name is Icarus. She’s a bardbarian who sung praises to Lolth but her faith is actually pretty shallow. Yet despite being shallow her faith is steady for as long as she’s in the underdark to to her nature as a social chameleon. The problems happen when she started to encounter surface dwellers. Lolth isn’t kind to traitors and thus to avoid retribution Icarus remains nominally loyal to Lolth but it’s a dangerous game she’s playing.
