You just can’t help but fall in love with her. I was at Elvis week 2017 and I saw her and Priscilla on stage together holding hands and Priscilla saying how Elvis always spoke so fondly of Dixie and would talk about her. You could see Priscilla and Dixie’s bond. Thank you so much for this. I just love Dixie.

I have a lot of respect for Dixie Locke, she’s never added any frills to her retelling over the years, never tried to add insight she didn’t have, she’s absolutely lovely and no wonder a young Elvis liked her so much.

The picture of Elvis and Dixie at the prom or whatever they were at, is typical of his blinding smile. His smile could stop a train, as well as any heart in its tracks.

What a beautiful, sweet lady. The love & joy of the lord shines brightly from her💛 I could listen to her talk all day! And I do believe even though Elvis did a lot of searching he knew who to call on with his last breath .. he knew his maker WELL!! He knew Jesus Christ is king 👑

These three segments with Dixie Locke Emmons...have been THE MOST interesting to me...of any videos you've done about Elvis. And the best!...you have done on Elvis. No puff, no exaggeration at all from this sharp, clear, and lovely woman. Listening to Mrs. Locke..you hear a true ring of authenticity...and accuracy...in every sentence from this Lady....And you get THE MOST ACCURATE..description of what the real Elvis was like, before all the movies and fame...that I have ever seen, read, or heard..from anyone who knew him...Period!.. So glad you did these, Billy.

This 3 part series was great, Dixie was great, her conviction to Elvis as a Christian was great, and I think that she helped explain his story better, and shed light into why he seemed conflicted at times. Great work, Billy!

Oh man how I have enjoyed this. I could listen to her for hours. She sheds light on young Elvis. A real honest to God light. Not tarnished with the allure of dollar signs or fame. I try to imagine walking beside Elvis. Heck crying with Elvis. At his most vulnerable moments. You knocked it out of the park Billy. God bless your tightness 💜💜💜

It’s a beautiful thing to hear Dixie tell us about their relationship and Elvis’s relationship with God as a teenager and young man. It’s incredible to believe that many people at the time felt he was singing the devils music and that his gyrating was vulgar when in fact he was a sweet, Christian guy just moving to the rhythm. And I do strongly believe that Elvis through his own beliefs and his Gospel music has inspired his fans to follow Lord Jesus. Just another jaw dropping insight into the early life of Elvis. Thanks Dixie, Thanks Sir Billy 😇

So Dixie wondered if Elvis would ever get over the passing of his Mother since he was so devastated. Just as we fans always felt also.
Sad that at his young age he could no longer attend Church cause of his fame and the Col. already had him tied up with contracts that he felt he couldn't ever get out of.
I always thought he felt so alone after that and that he lost the purpose of his life. He lived to make his Mother's life easier, but I always felt she would have been happier to have Elvis back home and she really didn't care about all the money. She just wanted Elvis close by her and worried when he was away. When he was drafted into the Army, I always felt that was too much for her to deal with and that led to her failing health. It is so sad to see the pictures of her when Elvis was leaving for training.
I am glad that Dixie had her love of God to help her when Elvis and her broke up. Happy that she did take the time to see Elvis at one of his lowest points in his life, when his Mother passed.
Happy Memorial Day to you all!

Pastor Hamill was a wonderful pastor for all those years at First Assembly. I know that he met with Elvis and prayed with him because, he was feeling that the fame was pulling him away from his walk with the Lord. Elvis was conflicted. Our mutual friend Jill told me that when Miss Dixie was working at the church one day, a group of Asian tourists popped in because, they wanted to meet her. She was gracious and spent time with them. Loved this interview!!!

Rex Humbard. Actually, I think it was his wife, Maude Aimee, whom I heard tell the story of the bell sheep conversation with Elvis which took place backstage at one of his speaking engagements. Elvis was in attendance and Rex and Maude Aimee had him come back to speak with them. As I recall, she told Elvis that she saw him a a bell sheep, a leader whom God wanted to use to bring many to Him. Elvis listened and was very touched by this and began to cry, and left, not accepting the call to join them in bringing people to Christ. I think he contributed to Rex Humbard's ministry for many years.

@@judijones1326 I "remember" that, also. Was that on the Original, Elvis The Way It Is or Original; Elvis On Tour? ? Which has been CUT OUT :(
On youtube Years ago, J.D. Sumner was on a Talk Show, had everyone LAUGHING trying to tell the Story; Elvis in Vegas, Telethon, Minister raising money (24 hour).
GOOGLE BOOK RESULT; Elvis: The Biography type in search box; Story by J.D. Sumner, Vegas, Telethon, Minister; chapter 23 Falling Apart. You can read parts of Chapter 23, 24, 25, 27, 29. QUOTE: The other night there was a Minister in town to raise money for a New Evangelical Church. He had an all-night telethon and J.D. Sumner and the Stamps went over and sang :) :) The Minister asked J.D. if maybe I (Elvis) would come by, and J.D. replied: "If he (Elvis) does, I'll jump in the pool". Later I (Elvis) called and told the Minister that because of my (Elvis') Contract, I (Elvis) can't appear in Las Vegas outside the Hilton. But (Elvis) told him I'd (Elvis would) Donate $2,500 if J.D. and the Stamps did jump into the pool. And they did! :) :) I (Elvis) told the Minister, I'd give another $1,000 if he'd (the Minister) would jump into the pool. They (J.D. and Stamps) had to THROW him in. :) :) It was SOOOOO FUNNY. . .J.D. LAUGHING, everyone on Stage and in the audience was LAUGHING SOOO hard as J.D. tried to tell the story. Spa guy thanks for a wonderful interview. Dixie Locke is a beautiful and genuine lady. It is so wonderful to know Elvis loved Jesus so much. I love the way you fill in his life before he became famous. All the southern people are so genuine. The part Dixie told us about Elvis after his mom had died was moving for me, because it showed the true feelings of Elvis's heart. He felt obligated to people. I remember hearing a story that said after his mom had died he would give it all up if he could have his mom back. Dixie has priceless memories of Elvis that no one else can have. What a lovely lady. So glad we have her stories. She spoke about the all night shows at the Ellis Auditorium…my uncle is Robert Ellis, and the auditorium was named after his grandfather. My uncle tells a story about being at a Memphis party that Elvis attended. This would have been in the days he lived on Audobon. He said he was very polite but quiet/shy. I’m sure it was daunting for Elvis, as this set of folks would have been very old school-moneyed Memphis. I’m thinking this could have even have been the party @ the Pigeon’s, as my uncle knew them and he says they were including him because he was sort of “new to the neighborhood.” Probably not the best fit for him friend-wise and can understand why he was ready to move to Graceland. Anyway, just some small tidbits. Thank you to Dixie for these stories and to you Billy for capturing them!

What a lovely woman Dixie Locke is. She was a good influence on Elvis and I believe he really cared for her. Dixie still to this day holds Elvis in high standards and speaks highly of him!
