Mannnnn I miss this game. Favorite game of all time. Loved the dogfighting, there wasn't no quick, bang bang, you splashed the bandit like now a days, no, you actually had to work for that kill, damn fishbeds and fulcrums was the worst lol. "Austin, vector, 265, bandits closing, clear to engage." And the refueling that was a challenge too, for some reason I always did better at night than I did in the daytime haha. Thanks for posting, really brings back great memories.

For the love of God, make a tutorial on how to install it step by step on windows7 ppppllllleeeeaaaaasssseeee. I still have the game since 2000 but the frame rate on my laptop is like 1.0 and I can't get access to the preferences and loadout. On another desktop, with no video card, frame rates are good but there are glitches with the terrain and skies, hurts the eyes, unplayable. I'm trying to register at a forum where I believe I could get support for it but my approval is being ignored I believe. Patches make it work on win7 but I can't find it anywhere.
i can get the game running on win 7. I don't have a joystick/throttle so i have set keyboard as preference. However, in the controls setting menu i don't see anything for rudder control, pitch or yaw. As a result I am not being able maneuver the plane. Can anyone help.

along time ago, i tried to run this in compatibility mode (windows 7 64 bit), I'm sure if your partitioned your HD or installed windows 32 bit on either the partition or the external HD, it could work. I think i'll give it a try....wait there
I does work on Win7 64bit. I still have the disks.. and there are forums out there that explain the background of how to.. andromedius below has the link to a forum. Thanks to Andromedius by the way. Basically, you clean install from disk, apply the 1.02F Patch, then apply the "tackleberry patch" which is a zip file containing new usaf files that are to overwrite the original in the main usaf directory. And whoohoo... it works.

I'm not sure how i did it. I couldn't get the game to work before but one day it just started working. I installed Catalyst 13.1 shortly before the game started working, so that could have been the solution.
Ok so i found my original disks, installed the game and got it patched, and ran Tackleberry's patch...the game launched I was amazed but the menu doesn't work :(

cool game but you could've made avoiding the SAM a little easier. Doing turns right and left and afterburner doesn't do anything because it's just coming in on you and it doesn't care which way your facing. He wants you to turn perpendicular to it because the most effective way to avoid most missiles is to cause them to turn. Shortly after they are launched they no longer have thrust, and turning burns off their velocity in huge amounts. If you've ever seen a missile in a game seem to be lethargic as it passes you, that's why, is because it no longer has enough velocity to catch up, climb, or turn towards you. Turn in an L shape away from it, drop chaff and you'll be fine. In this particular game, I always flew towards the missile at about 15 degrees away from dead on. And at the last second turn away from it. It'll be nearly dead from turning it's whole flight.

I have been going through website after website looking for someone who got this game to work on Windows 7. Nothing! Thank goodness I still have my Window 98 computer from 2000 with the game card still working. This game was hot. The dog fighting was unbelievable. The only thing I didn't like about this game was how its rank system worked. You are made a LT, Capt, Major, Col, and Gen regardless of how well you performed. As long as you got though the missions, you advanced in rank.
I recorded this on my older PC with a Radeon 5750, my new PC has a Radeon 7950 and the game doesn't work on it, what you could, if you have an AMD or Nvidia GPU, try all drivers from 2011-2013, that's how i think i got the game to work on my old PC.

EA made this game. I was on the production/design team. Our team in Israel (who also did IAF) did much of the development work. There was a time when EA did cool stuff;)
I was only able to run it on My Amd Phenom with a Radeon HD 5750 it didn't work with a 7770 and a 7950. So if you have an older AMD GPU, you could try it, because i believe that the game won't work with Newer GPU's.
I want this game. No torrents have it. Btw, if you really want to play the game. Why not just torrent Windows 98 SE. Install it in VirtualBox, then install Jane's USAF on the VirtualBox.

+ACMDogfight1997 the replaced usaf.exe gives an error message about as follows- the procedure entry point ...could not be located in the kernel32.dll

If spike means track or launch then you could never say Dirt Spike so you'd say Dirt to refer to a RWR indication of a ground threat in one condition but then why would you say Mud Spike if it changed to track? You see how that's not logical?
A whole generation sim pilots however have internalized this false brevity as real and lash out if you take it away from them.
Is there a way to get this game these days?

The Company that made the game no longer exists and EA no longer supports it and i doubt they will make a DVD version. If you have a copy of Windoes XP, try using a Virtual Machine.

+LukeDude759 This game was made by Janes before EA bought the rights and destroyed the whole line. EA sucks, but this game was made before. Also, EA is a publisher, they don't actually make anything. They just buy up studios and leach off their efforts.
I never said EA made this game. Just that they owned it. Also, you may have just saved my childhood by telling me that this was made before EA started taking credit for it. Thank you for that.
EA made this game. I was on the production/design team. Our team in Israel (who also did IAF) did much of the development work. There was a time when EA did cool stuff;)

Please tell me how to run on win 7? (i5 + gtx)
I was only able to run it on My Amd Phenom with a Radeon HD 5750 it didn't work with a 7770 and a 7950. So if you have an older AMD GPU, you could try it, because i believe that the game won't work with Newer GPU's.

Btw, if you really want to play the game. Why not just torrent Windows 98 SE. Install it in VirtualBox, then install Jane's USAF on the VirtualBox.
