Did the legato thing where he doesn't pick the run and frowned with crushing disapproval. It was hilarious. Thankfully no one turned on her, everyone was very respectful even if she kinda wasn't lol.
When we saw them in 2022, during "Last Orders", which is a pretty quiet song, the chick in the front next to us, right at the stage, was blabbing to the two dudes next to her and showing them pics on her cellphone, loudly, which was super distracting, and even Guthrie looked at several times like, "please shut up". How can people be so oblivious.
@@TT-xd2fu Oh yes, there are definately better players than others, if you like it or not and this man can play every style at the highest level and still is a very musical player. And his skill is outstanding. I'm a professional guitar player and almost all my collegues agree upon Guthrie being the no 1 of the world. The only thing that can differ is taste. When you're for instance into Neil Young you probably won't appreciate the Aristocrats, also because it is more music for musicians (for them it's easier to recognize the incredible quality of their music)
@ He is a great guitarist no doubt. Not as good as Shawn Lane was in my opinion but probably the best guitarist alive at the minute. However, is he really a truly great musician? How many of his Solo albums or songs really leave a lasting emotional impression aside from admiration of his chops? His Erotic Cakes material in particular is very mediocre, aside from the soloing that is. His albums have no concept behind them, overuse of boring drum machines, no interesting bass lines. To my ear his music sounds little more than backing tracks with incredibly good solos.

It's so sad that people blatantly disrespect the band's wishes (which they articulate to the crowd before every show) that the audience do not film them. Even with the drum tech pointing it out and making gestures for this person to stop, and GUTHRIE HIMSELF shaking his head and shooting disapproving glances. I know we're all desperate for more Guthrie content, but jesus christ, show a little respect.
I don't find it disrespectful to film. I actually find it kind of annoying they get "mad" at you when they "catch" you filming. I'm totally fine when they ask it at the start of the show, I even encourage it, but you can't just BAN filming your show. On the same note, I do think it's disrespectful to film and upload it on UA-cam or something. When I went to their show at 2019, I really REALLY wanted to have some memories of the show so I could look back upon those videos and remember the great time I was having. When I filmed one video guthrie pointed me out and it honestly kind of upset me. I then recorded some songs on my phone just to have something, only to find out they were deleted. That's my opinion.

You see,I'm have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, we should respect his wishes not to be filmed or taken pictures of. On the other hand, my plans to see the Aristocrats live in 2020 were botched by Covid, and I'm not likely to be able to see them in the near future because I'm no longer on their destinations due to stupid covid restrictions. And since Guthrie has no presence whatsoever on the internet (that's his right, nothing wrong with that), those videos are my only chances to see content from him after two years of total silence. Now if it were me, I would respect their choice and I would refrain to film. But IMHO, they shouldn't forbid people from doing it, because they won't ever be able to prevent everyone from filming, and also because you shouldn't dictate how your audience should enjoy your show. Let people live. It's 2022, and smartphones have become unseparable from people's lives. Filming two minutes of a show on my phone has never prevented me from enjoying it and "being present and contribute to the atmosphere", as Guthrie put it. To me, it's like those restaurants that forbid their customers to use their phones... That's rude and it achieves nothing. People come to your shows and pay merch to support your band, they should be able to enjoy the moment however they like. Finally, I will just add that's it's also a bit ironic since youtube videos such as this one contributed a lot to Guthrie's present fame.

Although I can see the argument for it, they want to bring back the vibe of everyone watching and enjoying it in the moment, rather than it become something where everyone’s just got their phones out recording and I think it probably encourages people to want to go and see them live. Especially since Live shows is how they’ll make a lot of money, now that Spotify has got rid of the need for people to buy albums. The problem is I think they forget they have hundreds of thousands of fans across the world and that not everyone can just decide to book a ticket to go see them. I met Guthrie b4 the set outside, he rolled a smoke and I gave him a light and we had a few quick words. coolest, nicest guy you would ever wanna meet. not egotistical at all. Met the rest of the guys later after the show and the opening act "Travis Larson Band". Every one of them were super nice and wow what talent! If anyone reads this and you get a chance to see Aristocrats GO! It's amazing what these cats can do with their instruments! They're not coming to the small lil theater I saw em in, in Milwaukee this year so what a bummer. Go see these guys if you can they are fucking incredible!
Freddy B. I saw Guthrie play with the Fellowship about 12 years ago at the Bassment in his hometown of Chelmsford. At the end of the show,I went round the back for a cigarette and walked straight into Guthrie and his brother Seth. It was like a religious experience and we chatted about Banksy, Devin Townsend to name a couple of topics. Spent about 45 minutes with them, really humble people.
Yup same thing when I saw the Aristocrats in Philly a few years back. If Guthrie looked at me and said to stop filming you bet your ass I'd turn it off.

I love to watch all the content from him (And probably have done it to all i could) but i cant bring myself to watch this when my hero is clearly against it. Its disgusting that even after knowing this u kept recording it, and after seeing so many people have the same reaction as i did in the comments u cant bring yourself to take the video down. Come on, as amazing as he is, he is clearly not comfortable with people filming him. Consent is a matter that should be taken seriously, even on those "minor" situations, or else what example are you giving. Don't ruin his experience, and let people the chance to see him live for years to come.

Ugh this is the cringiest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Guthrie is literally wearing a t shirt asking people not to film, and is clearly incredibly uncomfortable with you filming. To the point that he’s actually signalling his roadie to address the situation. And yet you ignore it and continue to film, so that Guthrie now directly communicates to you mid performance to put the phone away. And you still continue.
