This video never fails to put a massive smile on my face. Guthrie is an actual wizard
When Andy and Tosin smiled at Guthrie's solo .. I felt the world peace ! ..
I'm beginning to doubt anyone else but Guthrie himself is able to comprehend his genius. The faces of the other guys who are fairly esteemed players themself says it all. What a monster musician. It's not even his technique or speed that's the impressive thing, it's his overall musicianship, his ability to improvise with such tonality and feel.
That was really something !! Thanks for posting this.
When tossin and my man andy cant take the pressure of joy watching this man.. guthrie is so musical, no wasted noted, rhythm and chops.
That's amazing. He's the best soloist ever.
nobody can mix shred and soul like this man. damn he’s a master
I think the title is correct...i watch this solo weekly
Guthrie - one of few modern guitarists that can melt the faces of other modern guitar legends.
Good lord......Good fucking lord. Did you see what I just saw?? I cannot belive Petrucci's biceps.
Nice playing Guthrie.
Behave bro.
@@aimfuldrifter will do Sir. But something had to be said. XO XO.
This reminds me of the first Olympics featuring the “dream team” and everyone finally acknowledged MJ as the alpha basketball player of the time.
You just do your part and now in respect. All phenomenal players, but no one plays like Guthrie. He is the man. He might not be everyone’s personal favorite, but he is definitely the one true guitar god of this era.
what the fuck are you talking about lmao. Tosin is the king by a light year.
He doesnt improvise, he compose on spot literally
@J J I think I get what he's saying though. Guthrie's improv is better than a lot of composed solos. but at the same time, this is the literal definition of improv.
Technically most of Guthrie's songs are improved
@@Moskal91 technically all of his songs are composed and the solo sections are improvised
@@stevebadachmusic yeah That's what I meant. I was trying to Convey he improvs part of his songs
dave larue and jon finn laying down the foundation for guthrie to play over, and mike’s restraint and tastefulness and occasional spice! very nice.
I consider Guthrie to be one of the finest guitarist ever born.
Tosin looks like he's having a blast. Hell of a night to be in the crowd
It’s hard to find anyone who’s so far advanced in their art as Guthrie is.
Tosin is the king by a light year
Try allan holdsworth
@@imosyon Yes, he was amazing! Metal Fatigue was an amazing album. He raised the bar for guitarists a long way up. But I can’t imagine him fitting very well in an Albert Lee jam, say. Not that he ever wanted to do play anything other than what he did play. But it’s hard to refute the proposition that Guthrie’s playing is more stylistically diverse.
@@Sanctifires Yeah, he’s pretty incredible.
Holdsworth only. The other greatest improvisers imo are on instruments other than guitar, but for the guitar it’s Holdsworth first, then GG. The musical impulse that ripples out from AH is I believe only just starting to be felt
got goosebumps like 3 times hearing his solo... guthrie keeps challenging himself to squeeze the most out of the music that comes out of his fingers... very unique and one in a million type of talent, his playing never gets old or stale...
Let's be clear about one thing on this video, everyone played solos on a riff, Guthrie played over chord changes/modulations. Just look at their body languages and faces when he was playing. Man oh man.
For me ......I can't imagine anyone coming along that would impress me more than Guthrie. I just love is playing so much. Just a brilliant brilliant player.
TRY THE BASS PLAYER CHARLES BERTHOUD .....
When your playing makes Tosin Abasi and John Petrucci smile, you’ve won. You can retire now.
Close UA-cam and he is retire.
I love how a shred God like Petrucci strumming those chords after amazed by Guthrie's super awsm melodic shred playing... Tosin & Andy are just witnessing how a Ultra master should sound like...
guthrie's playing is so incredible its like shawn lane + jason becker on megacrack
He really is a joy to watch and seems like a good chap too!
We already know John petrucci is gonna steal those juicy licks with his ultra guitar staredown..lol!
I wonder if his coding will be able to process the hair. I know he's only tested on bald men previously.
My favorite guitar player since years. Extremely skilled across styles, whilst always remaining melodious so it grabs you from the insight.
Guthrie is all of their masters. He's light years ahead of everyone on stage
Are u hallucinating or wht ?
Maybe in the case of free improvisation.
During the last part when they had made the change away from him, Guthrie dominated again. Such a great ear.
In a league of his own. Unmatched in the combination of skills, taste and boundless improv ability.
Just want to make sure Dave LaRue gets some love on this video too. Dude is an absolute legend.
the bass is carrying the harmony of this beautiful backing track for GG.
I interpret this as these best guitarists on earth showing admiration and respect on each other👍
Guthrie could have gone on playing dat solo for 12 more hours without repeating a single line... What a legend
GOAT!!! I DO LOVE EVERY ARTIST AND EVEN THE DRUMMER ON STAGE BUT MANNN GUTHRIE!!!!
Great solo, but I would love to see the others too as I love all these players ✌️
Tosin is the king by a light year.
LOL that was so awesome!!! And the expressions on the other guys faces!
Guthrie tha G.O.A.T...I respect him alot!!
