I am still really enjoying delves. I saw someone on Reddit say to just run the highest delves you are comfortable with and stop worrying about getting sweats in high level delves with crappy gear and that made them immensely more enjoyable. I tell everyone to do the same now.
Yeah, especially for those who don't feel the pressure that comes from raiding or mythic plus, what's the rush? No need to race to run out of things to do
Absofuckinglutely. This "only spend keys on 8s* mentality is frustrating. I can comfortably completing 7s on my ret pally and 6s on my prot pally. Yes, 2 paladins I know. I will probably move to 8s on the ret next week, but I would rather not spend my time yelling at the screen.
I absolutely love delves! Best thing they have ever put in the game. I can't handle the repetition of heroic raiding as your hands are tied to the group over a long period of time. I can jump in a delve, switch talents every pull, wait for mobs to walk into pullable locations (I don't see this alot on streams) and log off all within 45 minutes. I've been running just tier 10's as that's the sweet spot for my warlock. And solo zekvir on?? Might be one of my best wow memories!
5:43 Correction: Runed Harbinger Crests are earned in Mythic Keystone Dungeons from +4 to +8, not starting at +5 as you stated/showed. Gilded Harbinger Crests are earned in Mythic Keystone Dungeons from +9 and up, not starting at +10 as you stated/showed.
Delves felt impossible on my shaman. I was getting deleted in 5s and 6s. Meanwhile my prot warrior is running 8+ in 575-580 gear. Its difficult but it feels very doable with smart play. Delve content has such a wide difficulty disparity depending on your class and spec and I think that is where the divide in the community comes from. Some people are having no issues and some people can't progress.
So much this, can't do them on my Elemental Shaman, but my Ret Paladin has no problems at all. Really frustrating not being able to get the gear upgrades on my main.
Regarding delves, Everyone is mad they cant AUTOMATICALLY run t8s for the best loot table. Just grind 5s and work towards 8s. Its so annoying seeing everyone cry about not being the best immediately because someone else is. I can clear 8s easy on my guardian druid, my lock struggles so I am just doing 6s until I can get to 8s. It's absurd how many people are mad there is actually some challenge in the game.

Thank you for being the first content creator to point out what I had to figure out the hard way on my own, which is to use some keys on lower bountiful delves to get veteran gear! Everyone said to save ALL of your keys for level 8s, but trying to run 8s with half of your gear being adventure gear it's a nightmare and makes you want to quit. I appreciate the update! TY
For any priests out there looking for a tip, I play shadow and I changed to disco priest and keep Brann to dps. He gets most of the aggro and you just keep him alive while doing some damage. Soloing +8s easily now :) Goodluck!
I don't play priest but I heard that dominate mind, put on a bigger mob every 30sec is very helpful. Like a powerful 3rd teammate. Might be worth a try.
I did this with Holy. Brann needs to both generate more threat and take more damage IMO to make it really feel like you are healing. It's too easy to pull the mob(s) off him. At least we have fade though.
Looking forward to delve guides. Maybe try them in crafted blue gear instead of your usual raid gear, for a more realistic casual approach? Atm it seems delves are hijacked by mythic + and (tank geared) raiders as "easy gearing" and they want it "more challenging" when with wq gear I struggle! I thought it might be a follower style of normal to heroic content. But if we need to have the right spec or class, geared well from outside of world content, grind Brann to a high level and learn separate mechanics for each delve, it's not "casual" content, it's another option to bg, lfr or lfg but for smaller groups or solo. Hopefully we get more tuning or the season will be over before casuals get to lvl 8 and beyond, leaving high enders to get our mounts, transmorg, gear, and selling us "carries" again. 😅 Keep them accessible or don't call them content for casual players but for high end gamers lacking the time to game.
Nah this is pretty silly. If you are casual, then you aren’t meant to be getting rank three hero gear immediately, enjoy your lower level delves in not a problem 😊
Yeah, I understand you find them hard now. But imagine how boring it would be for the rest of the season when you have full hero gear and just destroy everything just because they tuned it for casuals in blue leveling gear. Higher level of delves is supposed to be a seasonal challenge for the casuals.
Found the secret to running delves for me is doing it as a tank. Ran some 8s as a guardian tank with low level gear and it was a face roll. It took longer but never really had a problem. They did nearly no damage to me.
That's wonderful Soul! I really enjoyed your series on Horrific Visions back in BFA. I still don't know where you found the energy to do so many of them with SO many different specs. I look forward to your Delves content in The War Within. Spec specific performance in Delves is probably even more relevant to players and I hope you don't burn yourself out this time around :)
Good luck with that. All they care about are the high end players. Having mythic raiders running around saying how easy it is, is only going to encourage them to make it even more challenging and lesser players be damned. They can't help themselves. Watching so many videos of people saying how easy delves are, but they always fail to mention what their own ilevel is.. It's all junk and not worth the effort. In 3 months or whenever season 2 comes along, it will all be worthless.
@@Shilian01 Are you really failing level 1 delves? I feel like the content has a wide skill level included. I think raid and dungeon content does too though. I don't think they really need to create anything weaker than level 1 delve, LFR, and normal dungeons. It should all be doable even for the most casual players. If you want to do higher tiers, just get better gear and play better. It's a good and simple formula.

Delves T8 are easy , the M0 and the NM was too imo. But it's fine ! Just don't rush and play lower delves since you want casual thing , why bothering with T8 delves if you won't need that hight Ilvl gear for content ? You can do lower delves, dungeon (even with damn bot to help you out), HC dungeon , LFR , open world. I've been farming T8 delves by using the same exact strats that you mentioned here. Full use of class toolkit and terrain. Even with the slow and steady pace, Im able to clear T8 in about 25mins.
@@13redlion13 maybe because im a balance druid.. trees can taunt, bear form defensives, multiple CCs, heals, stealth.. also i dont mind waiting for big cds to come off cooldown if im pulling an elite/big group
I don't know why more delve videos aren't saying this, but they're about as close to Roguelite content that WoW has gotten so far. For Solo Delving approach rooms and fights like you would in Hades/Risk of Rain/etc... and you'll have a much better time and mindset. I'm not someone who's pushing tier and I still managed bountiful T8s on my sub 585 enh shaman. Only time I died was during scripted ambush, and only because I fat fingered a wrong CD. Healing Brann is very strong.
One thing I see absolutely no one talking about is how tier 8 delves dropped 2 runed crests on the first one completed and since then have not dropped a single runed crest. The chest spawned from the delvers bounty gives 3 gilded crests but if delves are the only way someone is making progress in gear then they are incapable of upgrading things past 606 without reaching the requirements needed to upgrade carved crests at a 6 to 1 ratio.
Lol! Try doing Delves with a Shadow Priest! It's quite a riot! You have to stand still to cast most spells. Not fun when the boss keeps charging you like it's a bull and you're wearing a bright red target. 😂
i've been doing lvl 8 delves as shadow with 575 ilvl and movement was never a problem.... you have tools to kite and change mobs aggro to bran whenever you need with fade
I am having the most fun ever in delves solo. I'm clearing tier 8 at 595 ilvl, MM Hunter. I feel great about it because i get to use all my talents and experience and not just plow thru content
I think one the worst part of delves is that mobs can crit. It's supposed to be solo-able content, why does Blizzard expect me to be defense capped as a rogue?
With all the damage being in white hits and casts, the answer is just more gear sadly. I wish more damage was in the avoidable sources or like failed soaks/mechanics.
Your final take on delves checks out. "Plays a plate class that has immunity, 25 shields and can heal indefinitely"... What blizzard needs to do is tune these things appropriately for each class/spec if they want this to be successful. I think I'm giving up on them after a week of frustration and not being able to complete a 10.
The icky truth is that you simply can't. Like really, sit down and try to think of how to balance a delve around each and every specialization's toolkit and achieve a goal of taking X minutes to clear the delve at a certain item level. Every mob, every damage source and environmental mechanic retuned for all those different builds. Then consider people making parties and all that balance gets thrown out the window. In content that's spec agnostic there'll always be imbalances. We've already seen attempts at curbing it with tanks taking tremendous melee damage - and the fact of the matter is that the advantage of tanks isn't their mitigation, it's their ability to kite.
Coffee made, open up youtube then BAM, Soul's latest just released. Yay! Regarding Delves, I only got up to a Bountiful 5 but Vault says I will get a 600. I did a ton of world events so not sure the exact formula. I don't think ANYONE knows just yet.
Why are ret paladins getting nerfed? They’re literally at the bottom of the list for M+ and raiding. We’ve not had a season in a long time where we shine.

@@poshment5435 nice that you didnt read what i ve written, i didnt say our overall dmg is bad, i said our ST is again like in DF the worst in m+, i am completely fine with aoe, single target is the issue, my wl, mage and fury alts, who got 20-25ilvl less and 0pc are doing more dmg in their m+ build in st, than my 610 ilvl ret with 2pc...sims and class discord contribution confirm that.
Help...what tier in bountyful is needed to get Bran past his level 15? I tried with TIer 1 and 2 and got the 3. Chest just fine, but no xp for Bran on both runs.😢
Soul, thanks for one of the first realistic takes on delves...I have seen enough of people complaining about them being too hard and/or easy. Delves are fun, but like the Mage Tower they play to different class strengths. Some delves are easier if you have debuffs or dispels others are easier if you're an undead and don't worry about things like breathing :) Ilvl helps, but adapting and running them differently is the best...and there's no timer, so just enjoy them...stop and use that Eye of Kilrog to ensure there's nothing on that side of the room for you to waste your air/light totem on (oh, and always set up the fight by dropping the totem before the fight so that running around doesn't use it up...if you do it right you can connect 2 totems to make a larger space). Do a bunch of non-bountiful 8s in a delve that fits your class/play style to front load your great vault...then just try things. I'm tired of people trying to make every last part of solo content a faceroll. Delves aren't mythic + dungeons...don't make them a race...if that's what you want, then do mythic + and let those who enjoy a more methodical game have our piece.

Would be nice if they let 9+ delves drop higher tier crests. 1 bountiful 9+ delve gives 3 runed crests or maybe 1 at tier 9, 2 at 10 and 3 at 11. It'd give a solo improvement option and a reason to do 9+ delves.
How many weeks has the xpac been live? 3? And this is the 11th one? How is it that people STILL cant grasp the concept that the first month or two of EVERY MAJOR UPDATE has some issues that need addressing because PTR and interal testing will NEVER compare to the millions of players and hunreds of thousands of different hardware configurations to test the content for bugs and balancing issues. Calling Delves a failure this early in the cycle is hilariously short-sighted and myopic. I've been thoroughly enjoying the new feature so far and i can hardly wait to see what more they do with it in the future.

Maybe try branching out and experience the ENTIRE game for a change, rather than the smallest part of it.
I ain't touching delves till Blizzard are done messing around with it willy nilly without properly looking at what's wrong with it. The fact they had a massive bug in it for weeks that gave some players a super powered Brann but not others means they are not serious about this being an evergreen endgame pillar. Delves are a complete and utter failure so far. Their current state is far worse than anything that Torghast ever was and I'm tired of people pretending otherwise. The tuning is all over the place and quite frankly laughably bad. You don't even have to be good at your job to realize that giving enemies more health and damage in solo content than duo/+ content is incorrect. This is a level of incompetence that I've legitimately never seen from the Dev team, which is really saying a lot. They clearly did not test the content. It's not a matter of gearing either; A tier 8 delve is supposed to be geared towards players with 600 item level and yet, frequently regular, non-elite trash mobs will routinely hit for 600k+ damage. I had a Kobold's fireball hit me for 1.1 million damage and then tick for 400k per tick with the dot. I could have twice my current health pool and it would still be ridiculous amount of damage for a single trash mob. This content isn't even hard, it's just tedious, and I'm tired of spending inordinate amount of time clearing delves because I have to wait for cooldowns in between most pulls. I can certainly guarantee that this content won't even be touched after the gearing portion of it is irrelevant. It's not even a viable alternative to gear my alts. This content is legitimately designed and balanced for absolutely no one, and will soon be engaged, by pretty much no one.
Good post. I would add that it's pretty much declaring creative bankruptcy for blizzard, after twenty years of making this game, to not have any idea on how to make content, particularly solo content, harder other than by making enemy numbers higher. Completely devoid of ideas...

Btw, mind control a level 80 elite inside the delve and it becomes much simpler but keep an eye on the mc falling off every 30 seconds 😅

I hope Blizz remembers that delves are for us non-mythic players and hot fix it around our needs, gear and skills, not those of the 2%

what class? because for some classes i struggle with 20 ilevel more than recommended while for others it is a cake walk with 20 ilevel less

Dear WoW: 6% increase for Shadow Priest is SO not enough.
Conflicting reports on Brann , some saying his healing is much better and damage decreased & not worth it

Do you have 623 ilvl? If not, a 10 is not supposed to be remotely easy

Like really, sit down and try to think of how to balance a delve around each and every specialization's toolkit and achieve a goal of taking X minutes to clear the delve at a certain item level. Every mob, every damage source and environmental mechanic retuned for all those different builds.
Then consider people making parties and all that balance gets thrown out the window.
In content that's spec agnostic there'll always be imbalances. We've already seen attempts at curbing it with tanks taking tremendous melee damage - and the fact of the matter is that the advantage of tanks isn't their mitigation, it's their ability to kite.
What was that damage numbers addon you are using? numbers look very clean!
Not having any issues in delves solo or duo at 580 shimmy and 566 spreist think they hotfixed it already just change brand to healer if needed
Coffee made, open up youtube then BAM, Soul's latest just released. Yay! Regarding Delves, I only got up to a Bountiful 5 but Vault says I will get a 600. I did a ton of world events so not sure the exact formula. I don't think ANYONE knows just yet.
If you look at your vault, it will tell you what you unlocked and @ what ilvl
They’ve released this info. If you do 8 T7+ it goes up to hero gear.

Why are ret paladins getting nerfed? They’re literally at the bottom of the list for M+ and raiding. We’ve not had a season in a long time where we shine.

How much M+ have you ran on live?
@@keithb6344 just check sims in m+ build of every spec with 1target, you don't need to play it yourself, if the sims point out up to 300k dps less than others
I've been 1st in every m0 I've ran this season as ret. End of dungeon avg around 900k dps... and I'm admittedly not the best player
@@poshment5435 nice that you didnt read what i ve written, i didnt say our overall dmg is bad, i said our ST is again like in DF the worst in m+, i am completely fine with aoe, single target is the issue, my wl, mage and fury alts, who got 20-25ilvl less and 0pc are doing more dmg in their m+ build in st, than my 610 ilvl ret with 2pc...sims and class discord contribution confirm that.

Help...what tier in bountyful is needed to get Bran past his level 15? I tried with TIer 1 and 2 and got the 3. Chest just fine, but no xp for Bran on both runs.😢
No mention of the maps in delves is a bit of a miss - that's the big difference between 7s and 8s - access to Hero track gear from the maps.

Soul, thanks for one of the first realistic takes on delves...I have seen enough of people complaining about them being too hard and/or easy. Delves are fun, but like the Mage Tower they play to different class strengths. Some delves are easier if you have debuffs or dispels others are easier if you're an undead and don't worry about things like breathing :) Ilvl helps, but adapting and running them differently is the best...and there's no timer, so just enjoy them...stop and use that Eye of Kilrog to ensure there's nothing on that side of the room for you to waste your air/light totem on (oh, and always set up the fight by dropping the totem before the fight so that running around doesn't use it up...if you do it right you can connect 2 totems to make a larger space). Do a bunch of non-bountiful 8s in a delve that fits your class/play style to front load your great vault...then just try things. I'm tired of people trying to make every last part of solo content a faceroll. Delves aren't mythic + dungeons...don't make them a race...if that's what you want, then do mythic + and let those who enjoy a more methodical game have our piece.

Would be nice if they let 9+ delves drop higher tier crests. 1 bountiful 9+ delve gives 3 runed crests or maybe 1 at tier 9, 2 at 10 and 3 at 11. It'd give a solo improvement option and a reason to do 9+ delves.

You should not ever go a +7 bontiful delve, because of the 610 hero track items that can drop in +8 via Delvers Bounty

Brann will have a quest at max level to get a restored coffer key. After that you get the Dirigible.

How many weeks has the xpac been live? 3? And this is the 11th one? How is it that people STILL cant grasp the concept that the first month or two of EVERY MAJOR UPDATE has some issues that need addressing because PTR and interal testing will NEVER compare to the millions of players and hunreds of thousands of different hardware configurations to test the content for bugs and balancing issues. Calling Delves a failure this early in the cycle is hilariously short-sighted and myopic. I've been thoroughly enjoying the new feature so far and i can hardly wait to see what more they do with it in the future.

seriously, if you're just going to no-life grind only the gear content and skip the rest of the DOZENS UPON DOZENS of other things to do then that is your own fault. I have so much to do on my checklist, it'll take me weeks upon weeks to finish it all. Possibly even over a year. Maybe try branching out and experience the ENTIRE game for a change, rather than the smallest part of it.
I ain't touching delves till Blizzard are done messing around with it willy nilly without properly looking at what's wrong with it. The fact they had a massive bug in it for weeks that gave some players a super powered Brann but not others means they are not serious about this being an evergreen endgame pillar. Probably unsubbing till they get their shit together

I've also completed 8+ delves, you're not special. It doesn't mean it's fun to not have a clue about what kind of difficulty you should expect every time you log in because they're drastically changing many different aspects of the game mode back and forth every day without thinking anything through. Blind fanboyism is so tiresome
Delves are a complete and utter failure so far. Their current state is far worse than anything that Torghast ever was and I'm tired of people pretending otherwise. The tuning is all over the place and quite frankly laughably bad. You don't even have to be good at your job to realize that giving enemies more health and damage in solo content than duo/+ content is incorrect. This is a level of incompetence that I've legitimately never seen from the Dev team, which is really saying a lot. They clearly did not test the content. It's not a matter of gearing either; A tier 8 delve is supposed to be geared towards players with 600 item level and yet, frequently regular, non-elite trash mobs will routinely hit for 600k+ damage. I had a Kobold's fireball hit me for 1.1 million damage and then tick for 400k per tick with the dot. I could have twice my current health pool and it would still be ridiculous amount of damage for a single trash mob. This content isn't even hard, it's just tedious, and I'm tired of spending inordinate amount of time clearing delves because I have to wait for cooldowns in between most pulls. I can certainly guarantee that this content won't even be touched after the gearing portion of it is irrelevant. It's not even a viable alternative to gear my alts. This content is legitimately designed and balanced for absolutely no one, and will soon be engaged, by pretty much no one.
Good post. I would add that it's pretty much declaring creative bankruptcy for blizzard, after twenty years of making this game, to not have any idea on how to make content, particularly solo content, harder other than by making enemy numbers higher. Completely devoid of ideas...
