The RGV last week lost conjunto tejano musician Gilberto Perez who started his career in the 1950's, the poor mans music and left an indelible playlist of songs that affected valley life, especially on the radio and at dance halls and in plenty of hearts and souls. RIP

This man had a large part of me growing up, my tia was close to the group and would follow them to many dances around the area. My taste in conjusnto music started with this man and it will stay alive atleast til the day I die. May Gilberto rest in peace
