Why did I sleep on this for so long? Had all their other albums, heard this back in 2018, didn't really revisit until this year. This is easily one of their best songs, holy shit. I know their approach to albums means the 'best' song isn't necessarily the one that ends up on the album, and I'm glad this saw a release of some kind, but man I wish this ended up on an album. Absolutely euphoric shoegaze song.

The lyrics feel sad but I swear the overall vibe feels exactly like a really good extended making out session with someone for the first time when you've been waiting a long time. Also, right after it was released, this is the song I had on repeat this time my roommate and her newish boyfriend walked in our front door to see me laying on the ground in our completely dark living room with big headphones on and tears running down my face. They asked if I was, ya know, okay? Going insane? I just told them it was a beach house kinda vibe, and her boyfriend just nodded with solemn understanding. May all my unexpected tears feel as lush as they did that night.

well yeah i mean since there are similarities with mbv there are going to be similarities with slowdive too, but the way the guitar sounds and the tone of the song in general reminds me more of mbv (especially songs like 'when you sleep') than slowdive
