My favorite thing about King is his character work. I always recommend Salem's Lot for true blue horror fans and The Green Mile for more casual readers
My very first SK read was Under The Dome and just WOW! This book has the best (in my opinion) Armageddon type scenario I've ever read! I have since read 12 SK books and I've collected another 40ish for my TBR! I'm tossing up between IT, Duma Key & The Shining for my NEXT read! Love your Channel, love your vids and especially love your daily vids! Please keep going!
Great list! I found the literary suggestions quite interesting. I haven’t read any of those ones but I am now very curious about these. Thank you for all the great videos!
What a wonderful and useful video ! I love it! I am 49 years old and I started reading stephen king one month ago. So far I have read 22/11/1963, the first 2 stories of different season, pet sematary, misery, carrie and I have just started the stand, it and salem's lot. Misery is the best book I have ever read. I am not enjoying it and salem's lot so much but I have read only 200 pages for each one. Your videos have been an awesome guide through the stephen king's journey. Thank you so so much!
I read the Dark Tower series first, and then The Long Walk was my first standalone. I think Salem’s Lot is probably the best book to read first as it ties into other stories in Night Shift and The Dark Tower. I recommend not reading all the highly regarded books back to back, spread them out with his lesser known works.
Thank you for a great video, Dave! I’d personally add a section called Sci-Fi King if someone is interested in this genre. It could include novels like The Tommyknockers and Dreamcatcher. I’m unsure about the third one, but my favorites that have some sci-fi elements and are underrated at the same time include Firestarter and The Institute.
uhm, I am not sure, but Night Shift is pulpy af, Boogeyman, Mangler, Grey Matter, Children of the Corn, Quitters Inc - nice stories, but really pulpy, a lot of pulpy stupid stuff like Lawnmawer Man, Trucks ... On the other hand, you have wodnerful storys in Skeleton Crew like The Reach, like Mrs. Todd’s Short cut, like Nona, like the wordprocessor of the gods and The Ballade of the flexible Bullet. Skeleton Crew ist so much stronger than Nicht Shift. (And I really like Everything's Eventual, but I am sorry, I like The Bazaar of bad dreams a little more. It is my Number one, secon Skeleton Crew, third Everything's Eventual.) Nice Video by the way! ;) I really like your book episodes.

Thanks! The daily shorts will definitely keep going until the end of the year - might cut back a little bit once that’s done though 😂
@creativemantlemusic9305 very different books, but you can't go wrong with any of those.

You’re so welcome!
I've read them all and still found this list entertaining. Great work. Definitely more DT stuff!!!
Thankee-Sai!

No, thank *you* so much for such a kind comment! 😊
More videos about the Tower! Yes!

Same here!

Interesting advice - thanks!

The Jaunt is a really good one if you're looking for scifi
Yes, good shout! I don’t generally jump to sci-fi when I think of King but it would definitely work!

Thanks! For me, I find the lows in Skeleton Crew are so low that it drags the whole collection down - but its highs are incredible!
Recently ive been listening to King Books on Audible. Duma Key and It are particular highs. Have you tried listening to any Dave?
I’ve never done any audiobook! I’ve heard lots of good things about Steven Weber reading It - might have to try that some day
Pet sematary, pet sematary, pet sematary. These are my top 3 suggestions.
Sometimes, picking more than one title is better 😉 jk Pet Sematary is a banger!
@@DaveReadsKing pick more than one? Nah. Not when Pet sematary is that bloody good. Great video by the way
@darrenbillups1322 thanks, appreciate it 😊
Revival is scary? The ending maybe but other than that I found it very average. I gave it 3 out of 5. Overhyped for sure.
Fair enough. I disagree but that is absolutely fine!
