Cold weather has returned! In this video, I take a trek up to Lake Lillian in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness with my Pentax 67ii. This ended up being a pretty challenging hike, especially with all of the camera gear, but the views and experience was well worth it. This was the first time hiking with the 70-200 lens for my bmpcc 6k pro as well. Having the versatility between the 18-35 and the telephoto was super fun and allowed for some unique landscape shots. Not my favorite set of images from a hiking trip, but managed to grab a couple good ones.
Gear Used in this video:
Pentax 67ii
Lomography 800
Portra 400
BMPCC 6K Pro

I love getting out and seeing nature in the winter... by sitting in my bed on my phone watching Brae Hunziker videos
Hahah happy to provide the scenery 😂
Haha so true!
mans is changing the game
❤️🙏🏼
Beautiful b-roll and well orchestrated video.
Almost feels like I’m hiking through the landscape myself.
Thanks!
Thanks Melvin!!
Was watching some of your older videos the other day, and wow has the production value gone through the roof. A huge inspirational kick in the ass watching how beautiful your photo and video work has been.
Thanks so much! Appreciate the support 👊🏼
Ahahah listening to you try to talk through frozen lips was hilarious man, thank you for suffering for our entertainment. Bummer that the blackmagic ran out of batteries, but the shots you got at sunset turned out super rad!
Cheers for taking us along on another lovely hike, I'd definitely have died of exposure and exhaustion 15 mins into that lolol
Haha plenty more frozen lips coming this winter 🥴 Thank you brotha!
Hey Brae. You are human after all. Love your work my man.
Thank you man 🤝
"gonna have to get hammered unfortunately" - could not relate more
The vibes recently 🙂
Solid....beautiful.......enjoyed every minute of this one.
Thanks Gary!
I really liked the first shot! I like the silhouette of the trees!
Appreciate that Bryan!
@@BraeHunziker Of Course! Great work!
always a pleasure to watch your videos brae! cant wait for your next hiking videos and pictures!
Thank you very much!
Such amazing views man...not jealous. At all. Great video as always bro!
Haha thank you!
Love the new videography and new style of videos
Thanks Shawn 👊🏼
Thank you so much for making such beautiful and cozy videos)
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch them!
This inspired me to go on a winter film hike. Thank you.
Heck yes 😎
Appreciate the effort, that looked damn cold. Great stuff once again man 👌 Nothing better than a warm cuppa after a day like that ☕
Haha amen to that! Thanks for the kind words 🤝
You inspired me a lot. Thank you for your beautiful works!!!
Thank you!!
Amazing as always. So glad you remembered the 55mm
55 is my new king :')
The 6k pro footage is just the cherry on top to your storytelling and visuals. Draining batteries is what it's pro at that is for sure. I am constantly charging batteries on my shoots at work with it. Def plugged in as much as possible when I can. Loved this video and def motivated after watching this.
Thanks Derek! Yeah its unfortunate, but it makes up for it with the quality output and affordable price tag
Another absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous video! You’re uploads are always a highlight of my day. Can’t wait for the next hiking season!
Thanks for taking the time to watch, Jake!
What a wonderful Sunday it is!
Cheers bro!
great work! loved every bit of that video
Thank you bro 🤙🏼
My guy, that black magic and your shooting/editing is pure butter (good thing)
Why thank you!!
There's really something so comedic and even poetic about not realizing you suck and took a trash frame until you dev and scan. There's a life lesson in there somewhere, I'm going to be thinking on that hahaha
I’m so happy I came across your channel when I did. I cannot get enough of your content, really enjoy everything you put out!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying :)
Yes! New Brae video, highlight of the week!
Lets go! Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work Brea.
Thanks Marek!
I wish we had such stunning locations here in the UK. We have some pretty incredible landscapes, but I yearn for hikes like this. Love your content bro, really glad I found your channel. Keep up the awesome work 👍
Thank you sir. Very fortunate to have this kind of terrain in my backyard.
oh yes
hehe
Love your content and I really enjoy following along.. you are a great insipiration…. Keep it up 😀
Thank you!
You are incredibly talented and entertaining in all you do. My favorite film channel by far! Thanks for sharing, Brae!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Cheers!
Hey Brae, just stumbled upon your channel and watched a ton of your videos. It‘s cool to see how you evolved with your storytelling, your videography and your way of reacting to your less than perfect moments. This video again is absolutely beautiful and fun to watch. I‘m also blown away by the quality of the BMPCC footage. Great choice of music, too. Can‘t wait for the next upload.
Thanks so much Christian! Glad you have been enjoying the vids. Cheers dude 🤝
Nice dude, I don't have the drive to get up early in the cold. Great video
It's tough getting yourself to commit that's for sure. Thanks for watching!
"You already know, I got it on me" Lmfao!!!!
lol stay strapped !
What a tour! Fantastic. I thought the photos were bangers, too, although I didn't think until near the end to pay attention to where my favorites were in the video. The one at 15:13 is one that really connected with me. As always, your cinematography and video production are the best of any photography channel. Hey, and go someplace warm next, brother! ✌️
You're a legend Bob! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and support. I love that photo as well. I believe that's #3 for me from this day :) Hope all is well. Coming down to California tomorrow to get a glimpse of your sunny, warm winter weather haha. Although you're more north aren't you? Take care 🤙🏼
@@BraeHunziker Yup, LA and San Diego have that legendary beach weather all year that you've heard about. In Davis where I live, it ranges from 40's to 60's in the winter. Lot's of beautiful places to visit and shoot in the state, wherever you go.
Great video as always, Brae! The thing about fat rolls - try not to mix lomo take up spools with another brand, Kodak for example. If you compare them carefully, you will notice that they a bit different in wide, the difference is minimal but it’s enough to wind the film not as tight as it should. I had same issue with my Mamiya 7, but when I started pay attention which take up spool I’m using, the problem disappeared
Oh no way! Very interesting and good to know. Thanks for the insight 👍🏼
Damn really?! And here I've been warning people away from lomo cause I ALWAYS get fat rolls from them. Like, I've never NOT gotten a fat roll from them. I'm gonna have to try that next time.
Getting out in the cold is definitely difficult! Reminds me of my first video going out in the middle of the night to shoot Christmas lights in the snow lol! Great video dude I loved those sunset pics towards the end
Haha yeah always tough. Sounds like a fun adventure! Might be an idea for a vid this winter 👀 Thanks for the kind words!
Another amazing video Brae! I am so jealous of you, Washington state is such a beautiful place! what are the places you would recommend if I were to do a road trip, places like these, trailing and taking photographs!
oh, and I would like to see some grad ND action in the next one, haha!
Thanks dude! Washington coast, San Juan islands, Mt. Si, Clochuck Lake, Highway 10 outside Vantage... Really anywhere in Washington you can't go wrong haha
Wow the video looks amazing photos look good too ✌️
Thanks!
Tbf those light leaks looks stunning too. Great photos man and the cinematography is beautiful! So jealous of your locality, England feels so lame!
Thank you! Glad the light leaks weren't too bad. Cheers Tom! 🍻
i literally find all of my backpacking locations from your videos lol
Haha heck yea!
Great video brother! Beautiful hike :)
Appreciate it Luke!
Please make a trip to Mt. Pilchuck. I would love to see the shots you get with those views. Appreciate the content.
Been meaning to go for a loooong time. Way overdue haha
Love your photography and videos man. Making me want to buy a BMPCC 6K as well, so clean and love the look.
Thank you Christian! Loving the camera so far.
I’m glad you didn’t say “award winning customer support” for squarespace. Cause it is not. Lol i have squarespace and they never responded to my email. There are times you can’t get a hold of them or like you are the “300th” person on the waiting line. That said. Great video!
Argh, I cant get enough of these...
Glad to hear!
Things I learned today
1) Production quality is getting off the charts.
2) I need to move west
3) I need try try lomo 800
Haha thanks Maxx! West coast best coast baby! And yes, Lomo 800 does deliver the goods!
I thought the CapriSun opened upside down🤔😂 btw great video as always!
Haha oh they do, just me being careless in this one 😔😂
@caprison sponsor this man asap. Wicked video man, sad that the hiking adventures will be finished until next year.
Haha that's what I like to hear! But thank you dude, appreciate it.
Lovely video friend
Thank you Tommy!
Awesome footage, you have my like ;)
Thanks Lucas!
I would be shooting lomo800 non stop if it weren't for the fat rolls. Always have them in my mamiya 7, rz67 works perfectly for some reason. Anyway, awesome to join you on these hikes!
hmm, very weird. This was the first time that's happened to me. Probably going to stick to portra, but I do love the look of lomo 800!
Thanks for sacrificing yourself for the sake of your video and photography.
My pleasure :')
I just bought the 55mm recently! Your shots have me pumped to finally try it out (I don't even have a Pentax 67 yet, oop)
Haha who needs a camera... but thanks! Its a wonderful lens
Greatness as always! I’ve had the same issue with Lomo rolls before, both with 400 and 800. Also had too short of a backing paper once, which really sucks haha
Thanks dude! And yeah it seems many people have had similar issues with Lomo... A bummer considering I really like the look of their film.
@@BraeHunziker Same here! The colors and grain you get from 800 is really top tier, but it's a difficult film for me to actually use for projects due to the times I've had issues with the rolls...
I just had the same issue with my film not winding tight on my bronica rf645. The folks I was shooting like light leaks, so they definitely have them now (grimaces). I feel your pain, but agree they add a vibe!
Definitely don't like them all the time, but every once in a while they can be a nice surprise haha
The only thing that hits harder than a backcountry Capri Sun is a cool backcountry summit Rainier!
@Brae I’m back in WA so let me know if you’d like to meet up to do some hiking & photography!
Ain’t that the truth!! And dope I’ll let you know!
I have similar issues with my Pentax not getting the film back on the spool tight enough. Sometimes it works perfect and other times it comes out kinda loose. Probably yoir camera rather than Lomo's fault but I could be wrong
Hmm I don't believe so, someone else just commented saying they had the same issue with a lomo 800 roll recently. Never have had it happen with Portra or other film stocks before.
I had the same problem with lomo 800 being loose after winding it. I think it’s because their film back paper is so thick it eats up the entire depth of the take up spool. I had the same leaks as your picture. It is always one of the great risks of using lomo 800. Which is a shame because i really like that film stock but Portra has enough thickness on their film back paper that it just does it right.
Yeah some other people have been saying the same thing about lomo 800... A bummer! I agree, it's one of my favorite film stocks.
I have the same problem with Lomo 400 in my Fujica GM670 so I avoid using Lomo with that camera. Never had any issues with my Mamiya 645 though. I think it’s because of the backing paper being very smooth and “satin like”. It slips of the take up spool early on and ends up like your Lomo 800. Very nice videos. Thx 😊
Lomo is notorious with this issue. I have shoot multiple rolls of Lomo 800 with my Mamiya 7 and is having similar light leak issue. But I personally think that it add some flavor to the pictures itself
This is what I have been hearing. A bummer considering it is a wonderful film stock. I enjoy some surprise flares every once in a while I guess haha
It has happened to me with Lomo 120 rolls a handful of times. Whenever possible, I try to keep it in my camera until I'm home where I can open the door in my closet haha
Haha this will have to be my process from here on out...
Never closed Phub this fast for your Vid
outta pocket 😂
@@BraeHunziker XD
how do I get the colors you have in your video for photos? is that something thats possible? the feel of it is amazing
I mainly just do some brightening and saturation adjustments! The color science of the bmpcc 6k is beautiful :)
About the Lomo "looseness", I think it is a problem on their part. I shoot different brands and only had problems where 2 out of 3 lomo rolls end up being loose.
This seems to be the consensus amongst many people! I really like lomo, but need to feel confident while shooting it haha.
@@BraeHunziker amen to that
I stopped giving a fuck many years ago !
Haha 🤪
🤘🤘🤘
👊🏼
Need to post a playlist
Need to sit down and make one soon
Dude, you should be on the payroll for the PNW tourism department.
Hahah thank you dude 😂
The last lomo 800 I shot had the same issue 🤔
No way? Must be a badly packaged batch.
Vuhlandes carries a gun and my boy Brae always has that Capri Sun on him. Both could very well help in a violent altercation.
ikr! when he said "oh and i m carrying" the first thing that popped in my head was Vuh haha
Hahahaha 😂 Capri Sun solves world peace I swear.
I hope you sent that pic to your photog teacher lol
I would but I can't even remember her name 😂
very instructional .. but hey, dont worry about it .. dont overthink just shoot .. experience > intuition .. i like some o'ur photos. Lomo's a Chinese film .. may not b ur fault
Capri Sun sponsorship when?
Hoping they'll hook me up for a nice a Christmas gift :')
Never leave the puffy jacket and snow pants at home, in an emergency it could make the difference between living and dying
Great point!
Hello brae 👋 how u doin homie
Doin well sir! Hope the same goes for you 😎
7:08 creative or not who the fuck cares. Photograph whatever you want to photograph right? That’s kinda the point. Just observing and documenting what you see and like
Also. I totally agree with what you’re saying in the intro; getting out of bed in the winter time is sooo difficult, but going out and seeing the sunrise up in the snowy mountains is one of the best feelings ever. Especially if you have a half meter of powder to shred on the way down!
12:25 holy shit this video frame is crazy!
100% dude!
