Solo Film Photography Backpacking Trip to an Alpine Lake | Pentax 67ii

- Absolutely stoked to get the first backcountry trip of the season in out at Mason Lake. This is pretty much the only alpine lake not still covered in snow at the moment lol. Although this ridiculous heat wave in Washington is about to change that. I also snagged the Pentax 67ii which is an absolute gem of a camera. It will definitely be my go-to film camera moving forward.

Glad to see the return of your baxter, the mirror lockup button.
Hahaha this made me lol
Newspaper: Local man dies after riding an inflatable boat down a dangerous slope and breaking his neck with an oversized analog camera. 😆 What a really beautiful trip and shots. 👌
Lmao pretty accurate scenario 😂

SUNDAY UPLOAD SQUAD BABYYYY!! These images are siiiick! I just did a 10 day backpacking trip in Maine with all my camera gear so I can imagine the sheer back pain after this hike haha

@@BraeHunziker no problem! We really enjoy making outdoor content also
Such a killer video Brae! Beautiful images and a beautiful new Pentax! It’s a shame we won’t get any accidental mirror lockup content anymore!! :-)

Thanks Aaron!
One of our favourite videos yet Brae! Never stop the B Roll! :)
well worth the extra dosh for the film holder haha
Haha thanks Jamie 🤘🏻
Loving your vibe
Another great video like always dude! Stoked to meet ya in a few days and burn few frames in the good ol nature of Washington
Having just enjoyed this video for the second time, let me propose a possible future hike to video. There is a nine mile hike starting at Lake Ozette in the NW corner of the Olympic Peninsula, running a three mile course through rain forest from lake to ocean, three miles up the beach, and three miles back to the lake through forest and an abandoned homestead area. For the mileage, I know of no other hike in the state which exposes you to so many different subjects, best done as a two day over night. Keep up the good works.
Sounds absolutely incredible! Thanks for the recommendation, Randall!
The photos you take and the journeys you bring us on in each video are so inspiring. Thank you man and keep up these amazing videos
Thank you Russell!
Washington looks beautiful I want to visit one day !
It really is the best
Now i have a reference on taking photos before going to the wilderness once again! As always great work
Thank you dude!
I can't wait to have a trip like this...
Ya can’t beat them!
@@BraeHunziker well… I think I can because I will bring less stuff than you did lol
Dude I love your videos, I love your pictures. It’s just so nice to see you work.
Thank you so much 🥲
Love the video man! Glad see the Pentax back in your hands. I gotta say, knowing you upload on Sundays make this day of the week even better.
Well that makes me happy. Cheers dude!
Absolutely Amazing as always!
Thanks Jake!
Awesome vid and images. Great to hear that distinguished shutter slap too! Thinking the infamous “van” should have helped inaugurate the P2!
you’re probably right haha dammit. I’ll get up there soon with it. Thanks for the kind words!
Beautiful! Always love these hiking videos.
Thank you Drew 👊🏻
It was so cool to see your full camping experience w all your new gear, looked so peaceful! Can’t wait for your new summer series, I loved how the photos turned out!
Thanks Rachel! Super peaceful out there. Cheers :)
This video was flames, they just keep getting better n better. This channel is slept on too hard lol. Definitely going on a hike with my 67 this month after watching this, it'll be worth the weight. Cheers from Canada.
Thanks for the kind words! Enjoy the hike, cheers :)
Yet another blissful video which, like the other’s, soothed my soul. Thanks so much for creating and delivering these magical videos that capture my imagination, and, for a moment, mentally transport me to the location as if I were there with you. What a gift! Sending much gratitude, from here in England
Dude of course! Thanks so much for these kind words, means a lot. Glad you enjoy them!!
god hearing you take that first shot and hearing the pear joy come out of you filled me up with joy. thank you for all of your beautiful work and dope ass channel
Haha best sound in the world! Thanks and cheers man
Awesome photos, Brea! Really glad you're loving the hiking/camping theme in your videos right now, the country up there is so beautiful, and your photos are great. Nice idea for the series featuring others getting out in all these places. Always looking forward to your new releases. Cheers! ✌️
And oh yeah, one other thing... I really like when you include the "learn by making mistakes" events in these. I think we remember things so much better and learn so much faster when we just do something and make a mistake, rather than thinking we can somehow study everything perfectly ahead of a new experience and have it just magically come out right without first gaining experience. It must be tempting to cut all those instances out, but please don't, they really are helpful in my view. Or, let's just say I can really relate.
Thank you Bob! And yes, totally agree. That’s the best way to learn. And you’re right, almost cut that part out altogether but figured it’s important to include. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers 🍻
@@BraeHunziker 🍻
Great stuff, man! Glad to see the Pentax 67ii went to a good home.
Thoroughly enjoying it! Thanks again man.
Awesome video as always man! The Lark system does look pretty sick, I've got a couple of Boya's right now, but I think I will definitely look to buying the Lark when I can get it!
Grate video, lovely video, perfect mood.
Thanks!
I discovered you recently, I have already seen like 10 videos, and this has been one of the best. I agree, the photos of the other hikers have a feeling of being happy, cozy, plain, complete idk lol. anyway i'm going to keep watching until i catch up with the latest! cheers from Lima Peru!
Thanks very much for checking out the videos!
Could not believe how quick this went, amazing stuff
So good to hear, thanks Josh!
so good.
Thanks! 👊🏻
fav vid so far, please give us more trips like this.
There will be plenty more this summer!
@@BraeHunziker can’t wait!
This video slapped loved the vibes and you nailed that self port
Thank you dude, appreciate that 👊🏻
Your videos make me so happy man, idk why lol, btw i enjoy theses longer photo/hiking format videos, the new pentax is absolute a killer and also loved the hikers photo’s! ✌️
Ah thanks so much dude! Thats so cool to hear
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Can't wait to backpack again. Also, the pad thai is arguably the best one out of all of them. haha
Thanks! Just tried the chicken teriyaki from Peak Refuel and I think it might have the pad thai beat 👀
Brae the dog photographer! Awesome photos as usual, so excited for the next vid!
Thank you John!
Definitely would love to see a photobook of your work in the future! Cheers
Slowly but surely getting there. Thanks!
It's nice to have discovered your videos bro. Good stuff. Keep it up.🔥
Thank you very much!
Magnificent. I’ve got to get out more
Can’t recommend it enough!
This video was a piece of art.
I love you man ❤️
Thanks so much ❤️
Hit it out the park with these photos man, especially the ones from the start of your hike. Really enjoyed the longer length of video as well!
Thank you Alex :)
When you said you wouldnt film any hiking b-roll I was so dissappointed since it's those shots that usually blow my mind hahah, but then you still did it! Love the photo of the light rays in the water
Haha I got you 😎 thanks brotha!
out on the trail! new name of the series is going to be fire
Haha yes sir!!
Got skunked bad trying to hike through the snow to Summit Lake last week...it's passable but as an out of towner who didn't know the path well it was tough to follow and we ran low on light. Dig the vids my friend.
Oh dang, yeah heard there was still a solid amount of snow at the higher elevations, this current heat wave should help with that though
Hiking is not my thing, but I enjoyed every moment of your adventure. Love the colors, both in the film and the video. That shot of the rocks in the shallow water at the start of the second day...awesome. Lots of really great nature shots, but I think your idea to make fellow hikers the subject of a project is inspired.
Thanks for the kind words Mike! Cheers 🤘🏻
5:01, you know it's going to be a banger of a photo when your stance is this. ha Love these backpacking vids!
haha the power stance baby!
another great video man
Thanks Emily!
photos and views are so goood great video Brae!
Thanks Miguel!
Your videos inspire me to go camping and bring my Canon AE-1 and bronica etrs along
That’s awesome! Love it
I was wonder what should i watch UNTIL i got a notification from maa boi brae this is SICK -true story- i didn’t even watched the vid yet lmao 🤣
Love the one with the women where the dog is looking right at you.
Love that one as well!
flexing the pentax 67II with those guns :)) ,jokes aside really like the lake photos specially the one with the reflection kinda looking at bob ross painting also can't wait to see the series of the hikers :)
Haha thank you Brian!
Fantastic camera... And pics!!
Thank you :)
how can one state be so beautiful it's not fair dude. Love the photos with that new camera
Haha I truly don’t know. Fortunate to live out here.
Loved this one man.
Thank you brotha!
Episode was just like a 🔥!!! You have inspired me to go out and explore ☺️☺️☺️ Frankly speaking, I was waiting for quite a time for the new video to come. Always like your work! Cheers!
Thanks Eugene 🤘🏻
Your pictures are absolute insanity, really inspired me to grab some Portra or Ektar and go to the woods for some exploring!
Thank you! Definitely get out there!
So good! Crushing it man.
Thank you brother 🤙🏼
Definitely a little jealous of the self-portrait.
Haha was so stoked that it turned out!
Great video! Stoked myself to get out in nature with my Pentax 67 on the Olympic Peninsula where I live, however now you make me want to trade it in for the P67 ii Ha!
haha do it!!!
@@BraeHunziker gah! Your costing me money lol!
This video was 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒔
Thanks Noah!
Washington and your shots are beautiful man 😍 that 67II looking mighty fine too! Now I want one haha.
Also, I like that you show shots that didn't turn out as expected. It's all about the process 👊🏽
Trial and error baby! Thanks for the kind words 🤘🏻
Low-key kinda a sick slip and slide 😂! You too funny bro!
Hahaha a fun one to break yourself on
Hike on bro. Great video as always
Thanks Jake 🤘🏻
"How's this for cold, you sunufabitch - SPLASH" ahahahahahah absolute legend. Gorgeous video as always man, I think my favorite shot from this one is actually your self portrait, both because of the scramble to get in position and because of how nicely it turned out lol!
Thank you dude! I was so stoked that it turned out haha.
Suuuuuuuch vibes from this vid man! Good to see u back in your element with the heaviest possible load (I bet 99% of the weight is the pentax haha). Love this content so much! lol that long exposure got me
Haha thanks dude! 20lbs without camera gear and 40lbs with camera gear lmao, it’s brutal out there.
Masterful with the camera sir
Thank you my dude
Perhaps a variable or graduated neutral density filter would work for the long exposures so you can still capture some of the stars on those nights and still have the trees exposed. Maybe that could work.:)
Most definitely! Been needing to pick one up forever now lol
Such a dope video! Makes me really wanna get out and shoot man keep up the great work.
Thank you dude!
Looks like Streetphotography in the Mountains! :) Nice ones ...
Thank you :)
jesus man. I recently went on a hike in the austrian alps with my pentax 67 and its insane how heavy this thing gets after a while xD. Loved every part of the video btw
Haha yeah it takes a toll after a while, but damn is it worth it!
You had me with the film holder.
Hahah was hoping I’d get a few people
Haha yeah its hard to get your mind around how good some of those dehydrated meals are! (Especially the ones that tell you the correct amount of water.)
Haha exactly! Feel like mine turned into more of a soup than a meal 😂
Amazing ❤️🔥
Thank you girl ♥️
Star trails are tricky. The favorite one I've ever taken on Medium Format was with Ilford HP5, f11, 1 hour, box speed. I tried again with Portra 160, but at f8 and the frame was really over exposed. It could've been more moonlight, or it could've been my mistake.
Yeah definitely still dialing in my settings and figuring out which conditions will lead to a good image.
