    I stopped fishing for about 5 years while chasing Sambar in the High Country but I fished these exact areas on my 2013 PA14 for many years. I live about 10 minutes away and just started fishing again. Let me know next time you are yak fishing in the area. I'm heading out to Avalon on Wednesday to smash the whiting on the stinger rigs I bought because of you

      Good to hear your fishing again, and yes Campbells is a great local spot. Avalon is fishing very well so I'm sure you will do great.

    Yum! I was just speaking to my mate about taking the yaks out in Port Phillip for squid, whiting, flatty, pinkie etc! Well done mate, super good video, keep it up!

      Thanks !! Yeah, this is a great spot for a good feed. But most of PPB Bay in the shallows is so good this time of year for flathead, squid, whiting and pinkies

      Yeah I’ve heard it’s going quite well. What areas would you suggest? Around Mornington/ Mt Martha I’ve heard is quite good

      Honestly im catching them everywhere. This past week I fished here plus port melb, kirks point, st Leonards, and a few others and they all fished well. Just get on the drift, cover ground, look for bait, fish depth between 3 and 6 meters and use a second rod as a drifter and you should get plenty. Honestly wherever is the closest spot to you, im sure will be fine

      @@fishingmad Thanks mate. I’ll most likely launch from Patto, my mate smashes the flatties and pinkies from there. Thanks, all the best

    • @fishingmad

      Yeah Patto is very good. Heaps of good fish around the entrance. The bream and EPs have been going well land based at evening by all reports even the odd mulloway

    There is a certain point at Campbells where you avoid the sand bank. Not sure if it is still there but about half way along the boat houses there is a portable fish cleaning table set up at a slight point. I never had dramas there at any tide level

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  11 місяців тому

      Yeah the sand banks aren't to bad there, where possible i just try not to go out or come in around peak low tide and usually the bar on low tide isn't to bad to get of the yak and walk across

    Gday Allen, ever fished in cairns? Trinity inlet?, apparently there’s golden snapper, Barra, flattys, bream and trevally. The bait we will be using is squid. Is that a good all rounder, what rig will be the best for bait?
    Love your work mate, tight lines bro 🤙🎣🤙🎣🎣🤙🎣🎣🎣🎣
    What’s the best size soft plastic? 3” or 4”?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  7 місяців тому

      Nah I haven't fished there before, years back I stayed at Trinity Beach for a holiday and was spewing I didn't get to throw a line. I'd love to head back at some stage and fish the whole top end of Australia. Squid is a dynamite bait choice as nearly everything in our seas eats squid, also it doesn't fall off the hook easily so that's a great choice. With plastics just take a variety of sizes, 3 inch prob best starting point and if you start catching bigger fish move up to 4 and 5 inch

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Рік тому

      Yeah, at some stage ill get some content out for them. There pretty good reels. They look great. The older models were also very good and one of better valued saltwater reels for inshore fishing.

    do you reuse your soft plastics? because i use quite a few and i go a packet quite quickly.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Рік тому +1

      All depends on the brand and type. Some brands like zman can be used over and over again, whilst other brands brake easily or dry out.

    Thanks Great video. I just fished this spot for the first time (it's a bit of a drive for me). I caught a few fish but unfortunately couldn't really bring in anything of size. Q When flathead fishing should you seek to go out only during low tide? or a tide change? or doesn't matter? My experience of flathead fishing in NSW estuaries has been that low tide is definitely better, but I just wasn't sure how it works here in Port Phillip Bay?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Рік тому +1

      Thanks !! I dont worry to much about tides and times when it comes to flathead. Just need to cover ground and find them, and mark plenty of waypoints. Look for bait on your sounder, and run a extra rod as a drifter. I catch heaps more flathead drifting opposed to anchored up and usually fish between 3 and 6 meters for them.
