I still don't understand how first gear loses power with the one-way bearing when the transmission shifts to second gear. Are 1st and 2nd gears spinning in opposite directions? That doesn't make sense unless there are 3 gears for the second shift to get the power output in the same direction as the 2nd gear. You know what I mean? I'm dumb.
Great vid....I snapped my primary shaft in my revo 3.3, I replaced it and now it doesn't shift into 2nd gear. It has the Robinson Racing gears installed. Any ideas???
Can I just change the clutch bell on a two speed transmission to a one speed clutch bell with one pinion on it and use one gear on my transmission well that work on a hsp backwash buggy nitro and is the set screw the one at a slant the one that is the one that shift and the other set screw that is Street is that the one that tightens it down to the shaft or is it the opposite way of the set screws
When the 2nd gear is engaged... how does the 1st gear disengaged? You said about 1 way bearing but the gears don't rotate in opposite direction when the second gear is engaged
@@potjnkye86 when 2nd gear is engaged the shaft spins faster in which the 1st gear can't cope up the high speed shaft rotation due to it's gear ratio so that's why it looks like the 1st gear is spinning on the opposite direction which the 1 way bearing is slipping... now I understand how it works maybe I will mod it to a 3 speed transmission with reverse
I'm just learning about the many different rc transmissions, hydra glide, Yokomo's yz10 870c, varent years and trans, another I can not remember what the gentleman call it, described as building up spin then spinning faster. I have 2 questions, #1 would you know any videos I can watch to learn about above said/described transmissions? Yokomo's trans info I've found plenty. #2 I've found a RC-10 fitted with this Hpi 2 speed for sale, how much just for the 2 speed by itself is this worth? Thank you for any info you can provide. 👍
@@rickahrens5994 The HPI 2 speeds like you see in this video are rare. They we're an upgrade part for the outdated but still very fun HPI nitro rs4 2 and RS4 super nitro. Just the 2 speed transmission upgrade for these if you can find them sell for about 100 dollars.
Make sure you have the cam plate the right way round, the pawl must have its trailing edge locking on the pin and not the other way round or it will not work.
I have the traxxas 4 Tex could you go into detail how to replace the the second gear. I tried following this video but was lost when trying to reassemble mine. Or I could send you my transmission haha
Hey man my car has 2 motor gearwheels but with 2 motor gearwheels you cant go to second gear plese help (i an from the nederlands so i am sorry for spelling mistakes i hope you understand what i meaning)
what kind of vehicle? there is a set screw to change the shift point usually unless it is an older vehicle like my schumacher menace GTR that actually uses different springs for shift points. most of the time if its not going into second gear the 2 speed unit may need cleand cause parts can stick or the shift point set screw just needs to be loosened
When I was replacing my 2 speed transmission. I noticed after I completed it. The first gear is hard to spin the way it's supposed to. But when I spin it the opposite way it spins good. Please help
Lit Tracks can't flip the bearing. It's a One way bearing. If you flip it the 2 gears will essentially lock together when you mesh them against the spur. Clean it up very well then line it up with some after run oil and try that.

Make sure the shift fork itself is still moving, you may have to set the shift point as well if it's too high.
@@potjnkye86 Its a FOC, and do I tighten or loosen the 2speed set screw?
@@easyduzzit1358 foc? And you loosen it about an eighth to quarter turn, this also allows you to tune your transmission more for your driving style.

1st gear has what's called a one way bearing, it spins faster so there has to be some sort of disconnect or the transmission would stay bound up.

The exact Hpi tran I refer is the 8201 Associated.

You can find them in metal on e bay clutch bell shoes and the transmission for roughly 30 bucks 🏁LETS GOOO NITRO👀
