Hahaha, when i clicked the link i said something similar, "Damn, someone trying to cover Frank." Pleasantly surprised. I think that the beauty of this series is when artists go out of their genre and make it their own hybrid sound.

Very different to Frank's original. But it's very personal and emotional. It's very pretty and I think it's not even comparable to the original because they really made it their own

Thundas always express the most authentic emotion. I reckon Frank would be fucking stoked, they did not bite his style or his take on lyricism, they used the original to channel a separate - but paralleled - vibe whilst stayin true to themselves. Love it

i dont understand some of the hate here ? I dont think anyone can top frank, but these boys put there own spin on the song and told there own story. Just appreciate the music and feel something you animals, i gurantee you they werent out here to top Frank, they love the song and they got a chance to do there own version. I feel like the instrumentals are a little too conventional for my taste, but I really like how they mixed the vocals with their own rap monologue things. The keys also add a really nice texture too.

Why'd they change "start of nothing" to "start of something"? The song is about heartbreak. Weird choice.
It's a cover. Not a copy, they did that on purpose since its about personal relationships they've had and they made the song about those and changed the lyrics accordingly.

It's one thing to adapt a song's lyrics to better suit your singing style but when your cover is in direct opposition to the original in meaning - in addition to altering tone, harmony, sound/feel, lyrics, tempo, etc - you're straying past the margins of cover concept. Just do an original song and sample.

I feel like I just watched a Thundamentals song inspired by Frank Ocean's Ivy that is way too mediocre to stand on its own feet so they called it a cover.
There's having your own unique take on another artist's song and then there's this. Is it still a cover if you change every single category of changes possible for covers? Including the meaning & key theme of the song?
