    I own a Milwaukee, model 1000 D handle 1/2" drill with a right angle attachment and side handle that my dad bought in 1965. It's all made of aluminum and quite heavy but it still gets the job done. I took it into the Milwaukee repair center here in Houston for new brushes and the guy at the counter said he had never seen such an old drill still in service. Great for drilling with big auger bits for running wire or pipes in rafters and walls. The thing I like about Milwaukee is they still service most of their old tools.

    It is honestly so freeing to get out of the single battery mindset. I understand it but once you get a couple battery bundles, you eventually just have a couple of each battery and then you can buy whatever fits the moment. Sometimes I don't need to spend Milwaukee prices on a Ryobi project or job.

    I think Milwaukee cares more for woodworkers for cordless tools, while DeWalt cares more for woodworkers for corded tools.

    The DW735 planer proves you wrong. I would also take the Dewalt 10" table saw and 12" miter saw over the Mileaukee equivalents and i say this as a Milwaukee fanboy. Milwaukee doesnt have any corded table or miter saws, only cordless. As a woodworker, those tools are most likely stationary. Milwaukee has a few M12 sanders that are nice, but Dewalts main random orbit sander is brushless. Overall. I think the Mileaukee cordless platforms are better that Dewalt's cordless tools, but the Dewalt corded tools are critical for a woodworker.

      Planer/jointers are way to finicky to be made at a price point that makes sense for these companies. Getting a jointers tables to move out the way and return to there original position within a thousandth or two is not a cheap endeavor. Even Jet's 2k versions are pretty sloppy.

    The Festool Rotex RO90 if money allows is the small sander to get because it has dust collection for the delta pad. Only downside is the lack of cordless option. DeWALT has updated their Flexvolt tracksaw but the only change was the addition of the wireless vac activation feature.

    I got the DEWALT 20V MAX* 7-1/4-Inch Miter Saw, Compact Cordless (DCS361M1) for my small projects and it seems like it’s also a popular one for its lightweight and portability. Another is the DEWALT 20V MAX 4-1/2IN Cordless Circular Saw. It’s brushless, compact with nice dust collection that most of other circular saws don’t have. It can get a lot of work done for a small project. Would you be interested in doing a video on these 2 tools? Looking forward to seeing it! Thanks!😊

    Milwaukee lost my business when I had a 14 month old 6" braking grinder of theirs fail and they wouldnt warranty it. I was to send it in, then $162 to diagnose it and then parts and labor was to be additional to repair it. Also had one of their M18 hammer drills with the keyless chuck. The ONLY way to get it to NOT drop the bit was to tighten it with a pair of Knipix channelocks. I didnt waste my time calling them on that one, Lesson learned on their customer service with the grinder. Flex is all I look to now.

    731 Woodworks... Never been to much into woodworking until recently when I found your channel. I love Milwaukee tools and I have several but mostly for automotive work like 1/2 and 3/8 impacts and ratchets. I want to get the new M12 1/2 and 3/8 impacts with the 550 Ft. Lbs. Also want a lot more of their tools so maybe one day. Slowly building them one at a time.

    Great video Matt, as always. Multi-oscillating tools, aka multi-tools, actually do oscillate, not just a side-to-side movement. That’s how you can turn your blade sideways to a 90 and it still cut. As far as Milwaukee , I’m a tool man and LOVE to buy and use tools, somehow have never pulled the trigger on any awesome Milwaukee tools, but they ARE making it harder not to!!

    On the Milwaukee 1/2” cordless hammer drill it has a similar anti rotation on it to keep from injuring your wrist it’ll stop if the drill hangs up when drilling. It is indeed a wrist saver.

    Also, completely agree with you and the others about the fatigue on long term use of the Dewalt cordless trim router. I love mine except for that. Have two cordless Makita trims and I don’t get the fatigue with those, they’re just far short of the adjustability of the Dewalt and certainly the Milwaukee

  • @DanArmstrong_2
    @DanArmstrong_2 День тому

    I agree 100% with this video, and generally all your reviews. I am in love with the detail sander, but think the dust collection, plastic flimsiness of the normal M18 orbital sander blows. My shop is 75% Milwaukee, 15% Dewalt and 10% misc. (Harbor Freight, Skill, Grizzly) for more unique or rarely used tools.
    Here’s my actual comment: Do you have a list of non-Milwaukee, Dewalt, Festool tools that reign in their categories? I’d find the list hard to make, outside of tools that they don’t make (hybrid tab;e saw, drill press, dowel cutter, biscuit cutter, belt/disc sander combos, etc.).
    Love your channel btw.

    To go along with the Milwaukee routers they also have an adapter to use both of them with the track saw guide rail

  • @autoc1001
    @autoc1001 2 дні тому

    I believe when talking about the Milwaukee routers I think it should be thrown in there that Milwaukee makes a adapter for the tracksaw guide rail system to be used in conjuction with the milwaukee routers. Dewalt doesn't offer that period. I'm not saying Dewalt is bad or anything, I just think Milwaukee is more innovative to its users.

    Good Day 🌅, Men and their Toys , 🧸, 😂, I could only afford a SCM jointer/planner 410 Classes E , And Thinkers 510 E Classes, some people have Rembrandts Picassos art and sculptures on the wall, I have Mafell-Festool , I do have some Makita and Milwaukee , they are still very good tools, I haven’t used Dewalt for quite considerable many of years, As I had a sander and I Skil saw, that didn’t even last two years,
    Things are probably changed by now , and doesn’t really matter to me a lot as I’m now in my 70s retired sitting here writing talking to my device telling you What I think, stay safe. Keep up the great work on your reviews.,

    A lot of peoples choices also have to down to cost to quality! Eg I buy Dewalt because they have never let me down since moving from Bosch because they kept dying on me, eg in the space of 2 years I had to get my Bosch drill repaired/replaced 3 times, where I have had my Dewalt cordless drill now for 3 years and it still runs like the day I bought it, same with my circular saw. For me with my budget one Milwaukee drill would have cost more than my impact driver and drill put together. So for me I get what I can afford with the budget I can afford.
    Out of all my friends who have battery powered hand tools only one has Milwaukee and that’s because his came as part of his job and another friend loves his RYOBI tools (ever though he hates his drill and driver because they often don’t have enough power to do a job 😂), but again they were all he could get with the budget he has (like me he’s also disabled, but is a single parent and on a low fixed income, however once the kids fly the nest after they finish college and get married he’s planning to upgrade to a better quality set and give they RYOBI tools away to probably his son)!
    So I’m a believer in get the best you can stretch your budget can afford.

    So Milwaukee likes woodworkers better because they make you buy more tools where all these features are available with Dewalt oscillating tool, making it a sander and a cutter with a triangular sander, making it absolutely guaranteed to get all the way into all the corners with a less than 3 inch Surface getting into even tighter spaces and you can get it on the 20 V or 12 V platform whichever platform you run and have multiple tools in one to Milwaukee wants you to buy mini tools to accomplish the same thing. 4:32

    So Harbor Freight recently came out with their own, OSHA compliant, dust extractor. Any chance you might be able to review it? I’m on a budget and thus have been running off my shop vac with a greased HEPA filter and fleece bag pulling through a dust separator. It works good but I’d much prefer a more dedicated solution. I’d love to see your thoughts on the Harbor Freight Hercules dust extractor.

    I know you only have so much money to buy tools. And some tools come from sponsors or you buy them and then your getting kickbacks, where is any grizzly tools? I will give you an out as you can’t play with them anywhere in USA besides Springfield MO and somewhere in NW. I trust you for the way you deliver the msg. But what about Grizzly. I am seriously considering buying a cabinet saw from them as my last crapped out, luckily, on me, couple weeks ago. Seemed like a Capacitor blew, which I think it did. But also found a large, like only one inch metal connection of the trunnion plate on each side. Lalala saw isn’t worth fixing. The plate should be 1/2” or 3/4” thick, which I at is. But the crack compromised about 70% of the structural integrity of the blade holding mech. And I have to fix the cap as said before. 🎉. I want a good or better table saw as a heavy maker. I ain’t buying a 600 buck one anymore

    I really don't get your obsession with cordless tools. If you need dust collection, and you'd be suicid@l to use a sander without it, the power cord is nothing compared to the hose. Tie them together and you won't even notice the power cord. I have both hanging from a Rockler track attached to the ceiling. Unless you're a finish carpenter,who takes his woodworking tools to the jobsite, a battery powered SMCS or table saw is just silly, IMO.
    I would like a better cordless trim router, but I got rid of all my DeWalt cordless tools, and don't want another battery system. Three is enough.

    I'm not to happy with DeWalt right now! My dad bought me a dw735 in February 24th for my birthday. I've used the planer 3 times since February and the motor went bad in it. Apparently on the type 12 planers it is an issue. I started calling DeWalt 3 weeks ago trying to get in touch with them about the motor issue. They keep telling me I need to find the date code I have looked everywhere they have told me and there is no date code on my planer. Now they won't even email me back. I've been really nice and polite with them and I'm getting really frustrated for the lack of help that they are giving me. I am a Milwaukee Fanboy and I will never buy another DeWalt tool after this experience with them. Does anyone know where the date code on the planers are? I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you!

    I'm going to disagree, Who makes more woodworking specific power tools? Does Milwaukee make a table saw? How about a power plane? Dewalt makes numerous woodworking tools. Milwaukee makes a lot of plumber specific and electrician specific tools as well as other trades, but woodworking, not so much. Just my observation.

    I love the tool that fits my price budget and won't make me poor as shit while doing general house work and hobby wood working: Dewalt and Milwaukee are not on this list so fuck em both, yeah yeah, quality, speed, control yadda yadda yadda. A dewalt will rip your hand off all the same if your ignorant with using tools, that $200 price tag will not protect against stupidity: Maybe it will rip a finger off cleaner though? To be further tested perhaps.

      I think what Drij1986 is trying to say is that Milwaukee is owned by a Chinese company with ties to the C.C.P. the China Communist Party. As they may produce some good products, they are back by a troublesome entity and money is transferred to the C.C.P. This is why I will never buy Milwaukee, if I am not buying America, then I am buying from somewhere that has no ties to evil Like, Festool Germany, Makita Japan and so on.

      You are right, @davidcorless about TTI being a Hong Kong based company. The United Kingdom transferred power to the C.C.P. on July 1 1997. So, that statement is confusing . Who is the owner and controls Hong Kong ,the Chinese Communist Party. And so much so that they are making headline news daily. Unfortunately, the old Hong Kong of yesteryear is gone.
