- How Jurgen Klopp Evolved Liverpool into Premier League Title Challengers: • How Jurgen Klopp Evolv...
Jurgen Klopp’s tactical evolution of Liverpool from 8th position in the Premier League and losing Europa League to Champions League winners explained. Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final in Madrid to win their 6th European cup. But how has Jurgen Klopp improved Liverpool over his four years in charge.
Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Liverpool manager following a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby on the 4th October 2015. But the Reds had a clear plan as they wasted no time in appointing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s new permanent manager. Klopp took charge of his first game 9 days after his appointment in a 0-0 draw with Spurs at White Hart Lane. Despite using a 4-3-2-1 against Spurs in an effort to congest the centre of the pitch, Klopp primarily used his trusted 4-2-3-1 for the remainder of the 2015/16 season and Liverpool finished the season in a disappointing 8th position. But in hindsight you could argue Klopp used this season to test his squad and make decisions on where he wanted to take his Liverpool side. It seems the 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final changed something in Klopp.
The following season he changed his system to a 4-3-3 and added the likes of Giorgino WIjnaldum, Loris Karius and Sadio Mané. This saw the introduction of 3 shuttlers in central midfield, which gave the forwards fewer defensive responsibilities because the outside central midfielder would shuttle out wide to help the full back. This change saw a drastic improvement in Liverpool’s domestic form, taking them to 4th in the league and 18 points clear of the previous seasons total. The 2017/18 season saw Klopp’s squad overhaul continue. He made 3 signings that summer, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to add midfield thrust, Andy Robertson as first choice left back and Mo Salah to add more pace and goals. These additions made it seem like Klopp was gearing up to return to the 4-2-3-1, with a front four of Coutinho, Firmino, Mané and Salah. But Coutinho pushed through a January transfer to Barcelona and Klopp continued with his 4-3-3, using part of the Coutinho money to sure up his defence with Virgil van Dijk.
The 2018/19 season was bittersweet for Liverpool. Despite losing just one game in the Premier League and accruing 97 points, they finished 2nd and a single point behind Manchester City but they lifted their 6th European cup in Madrid after beating Spurs 2-0. Unsurprisingly, this was Klopp’s best in terms of tactics. He’s tweaked his system, switching the point of creativity from the forwards to the full backs, leaving the forwards to primarily focus on goalscoring. He’s adopted the 2-3-5 attacking shape of Zizou’s Real Madrid, with chance creation coming from full back crosses. A ridiculous 26% of Liverpool’s 89 Premier League goals they scored this season were assisted by full backs, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
But could we see Klopp return to his 4-2-3-1 next season? At Dortmund he had a solid back four, headed by Mats Hummels, with an intelligent double of Sven Bender and Ilkay Gundogan in defensive midfield, a playmaker-destroyer combo. But he now has those elements at Liverpool. His back four and destroyer in Fabinho is better than what he had at Dortmund and if Naby Keita can carry his pre-injury form into next season, Klopp will have all the defensive tools for his 4-2-3-1. Adding either a creative midfielder to play off Firmino or a striker to play Firmino off would complete his side. Bruno Fernandes would be the ideal midfield signing after being directly involved in 50 goals in 53 games for Sporting this season. On top of his impressive numbers, he’s equally adept in a midfield 3 as he is at number 10 and could allow Klopp versatility. As a striking option, Timo Werner could be perfect. He already plays in a high pressing RB Leipzig front line and has been in prolific form for the Saxony club, scoring 71 goals and registering 27 assists in 114 appearances.

The continued disregard of Henderson as a player by United (and opposition) fans shows nothing but bias.
He is a UCL winning captain, and will win us the EPL too in the next few years. YNWA
Because they don't watch alot Liverpool matches. They didn't know how our captain recover his confidence after left DM role, and wilnadum also ignored
I'm a united fan probably bigger one than you have ever met and have always championed him. Good understanding of his own game, tireless and crossing which has always been good is getting better. Wonderful attributes for a 'shuttler'. Klopp has a great ability to focus on being picky about who he plays whilst focusing on what they can do. Pep is overly concerned with what his players can't do. I guess like those who want Henderson to be Xavi or Ya Ya or Gerard before they give him props. Henderson will be crucial for England too
Liverpool are proof that you don't need quote-unquote "stars names" to move a club forward, that it's smarter to go for the non-household names to build a proper team with excellent chemistry. Mane, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Robertson and Milner were all players snobby fans of Arsenal and Man United scoffed at because they weren't household names and look at them now, instrumental to Liverpool's meteoric rise back to the top.
Just goes to show, it's not all about just signing household names.
Great evaluation
Yes, you build a team and not build an ensemble of stars. This doesn't mean you can't have stars because if they will work in the team based on how they play, they should definitely be used.
I think it's a matter of bringing in the right players whether big names or not. This is because Real Madrid bought big names like James, Kroos, Bale and they won 4 UCLs in 5 years. As long the players fit the bill, it'll work.
"Snobby" Arsenal fans did not scoff at those players mate, we just have shit people in charge of transfers.
@@calebbrew5600 To be honest, for recent Madrid acquisition apart from Kroos, most didnt make much impact in their runs, James loaned out after a few underwhelming season, Bale now looking for a new club, i know he scored two goal in the final last year, but his madrid career hasnt been good compared to what they pay for him. what Madrid was successful at is recognizing, keep buying big names doesnt get you anywhere, what they did right was keeping the core players of Ronaldo, Benzema, Ramos, Modric, Kroos, Carvajal, Varane, Isco, Navas and Marcelo, that is the reason they are able to win 4 out of 5 finals.
Fabinho's importance in enabling Liverpool's tactical progress this season is definitely underrated. Great analysis, keep it up!
a lot of people did not realise that Liverpool have a lot of injury problem this season, especially at the defence. They do not have a very deep squad, and how Klopp managed it was phenomenal. To finish one point behind Man City is amazing. Before Joe Gomez was injured in December, Liverpool has an impeccable defensive record, Klopp had to change Van Djik's defensive pairing many times.
Exactly, Klopp was very Mourinho-esc in the final, some fans very moaning because it was a boring final but for me I was excited because it was a side of Klopp we’ve never seen before. And imo, he needs to be in certain games in order to keep opponents guessing, remember pre-match game everyone was saying they knew exactly how Klopp was going to set up his team and imho teams need to be a little pragmatic at time to have sustainable success
The thing is though, he has been working towards this development the entire season, you could say even earlier.
I remember we did smh very similar in the last 10 games of 16/17 to get over the line for top 4 and even tried defending leads towards the start of 17/18. It was unsuccesfull however and considered we signed Ox and Salah and still had Coutiinho we set out to again to play to our strenghts as we weren't ready yet to lean more on our defense. Then we added foundations to the defense so Klopp could add more balance and a doggedness to the team.
What seems to have been added more unsuspectedly to Klopps plans is a slower possesion game to control the tempo of games. Probably some of that credit needs to go to Lijnders if you listen to what he has said about football and what Klopp has said about him.
As a United fan; watching this videos hurts... probably hurt you more making it Dave.
But credit where credit is due... The scousers saw Klopp as a project, backed him with money and patience and they're reaping the rewards now.
Real mature outlook fair play mate coming from a Liverpool fan .
Next season top 4 will be just as intense as this year if Chelsea lose their transfer ban appeal
Klopp is my favorite manager but he manages Liverpool. The pain is unbearable at times. It's like being a one sided lover.
I believe you are one of the analysts that's insisted that Klopp is tactically one-dimensional, so I'm glad you seem to see sense. He has a tactical identity, but beyond that he is adaptable and has generally been somewhat limited by the quality of player at his disposal. We will see a dimension added next season when players of greater technical ability are fit and available to start more regularly in midfield. As Lallana exits, I hope someone like Ziyech is brought in. Klopp has been taught tough lessons by the English game, where he found fixture congestion in place of the winter break of Germany. It took a while, but he has learnt and adapted.
Klopp's pragmatic muscle has formed and strengthened as a result of two key factors: 1. Having Europe's best back 5 and 2. The contributions of his assistant, Pep Lijnders. What happened after the early goal in Madrid was boring, but those blaming Spurs for their ineffective play forget just how solidly Liverpool have defended all season. Klopp is assembling a squad and developing a team capable of winning in varied ways against different setups from opponents faced. As he adds more silverware and takes virtually unknown players to new heights, I hope he begins to get the widespread recognition and praise he deserves.
klopp was one dimensional when he firt came to liverpool
I like this version of Klopp the more pragmatic verson
Reminds me a bit of Fergie ball
I read somewhere that Klopp intentionally started off with heavy metal football that is exciting but prone to error and thus make a bad league contender. But the exciting style will help jolt the club, raising morale of players and fans (i.e. you can always say "at least we played well!", win or lose). He knew and planned to create more balance team afterward
This one will bring us titles, not the heavy metal football. JK realised that after his first full season at the club and here we are now. So proud ! YNWA !
@@ptbot3294 do you got a link to that article? I guess is a good read
@@ptbot3294 He is a more defensive manager. When joining a team he likes to fix the defense first. But Liverpool's attack was far better than the defense so he decided to improve the attack first.
Legend has it Barcelona are still waiting for the corner, love this quote
Tbh I have no idea where we need to strengthen... Just gonna sit here and wait and trust Klopp and Edwards
You forgot the main man Oxlade Chamberlain.
Yes, apparently ox will play more next season, so no Bueno come
liverpool never used that coutinho money on van dijk. the 65m money still there when the van dijk transfer collapsed on summer transfer then soton bumped up the price to 75m on winter transfer. coutinho's money liverpool used alisson and fabinho mostly. jurgen already confirmed this thing when van dijk first announced.
You hit the nail on the head, Bruno Fernades and Werner would be incredible signings and would assure more trophies next season
Luke they need to start tho and it’ll be hard for them to
@@TDGReviews Considering the number of competitions we're in next season, there will probably be at least 60 games. With how thin our overall squad is, there's no way we can compete with a team like City without proper depth and quality to rotate with. You say it'll be hard for them to start but they will definitely start, the squad is going to be heavily rotated. The reason why City won the domestic treble while teams like Liverpool and Spurs didn't even care about the FA cup or League cup is because simply put, City had players on the bench like Mahrez, Jesus, Gundogan and Sane who would easily start for other top 6 clubs, and they came in and produced when needed.
Werner is that good this season, was much better last season. Wasted alot of goals.
We got a cursin Harvey Elliot 😂🤣
Next season US and chelsea will be the only 2 clubs in European markets.
Manager of the season for me
Surprised you haven't mentioned Jurgens use of 4231 this season using Salah Firmino Mane and one of Shaq/Keita as a wide midfielder with Fabinho and one of Henderson/Gini in defensive midfield
Liverpool played a 4222 when Keita played out wide
@@bri1085 4231 Firmino was a lot more withdrawn than Salah who played on the last man
From a tactical standpoint bringing in Werner and having a front 3 of Werner, Mane and Salah would be a nightmare for opposing teams.
I think Klopp won't go for any big money moves. He'll look to get a replacement for Sturrdige with an attacking backup to the front three, or maybe will look to get Brewster some more game time opposed to buying someone new. Getting two young full backs to provide Trent and Robbo with competition and maintain the strong four centre halves they have with Gomez being fit again
Sturridge and Moreno are out this summer. Certainly, Klopp will find replacement for those two.
Ashvin Tyagi I think we might sign someone because we gained so much revenue, we have the money to do it
i also think there's a couple of midfielder that we'll look to sell with the likes of Lallana and maybe Milner(as he is old) in a couple transfer windows time
@@khairulnaim8198 Origi replaces Sturridge, Milner has already replaced Moreno. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see one of Wilson, Kent or Brewster make the squad - with my money on WIlson as a surprise.
So,Kent stayed, Elliot arrived along with a ginger giant😂,wilson departed to "drumroll" Bournemouth, won't be surprised if they buy him for 35 mil £ in Jan😁. Lallana is still here(injured),
Next season FSG better get Mbappe or I'll lose it😁😂🤣🤔☠️
What about OX tho ? he could also be the X-Factor for the next season he is basically like a new signing
I've been thinking this, once he gets his first full 90 since the injury last year I think we'll see something really special from ox next season!
Sustain injury bother him
Jürgen Klopp the best manager in the world.
Yeah, maybe
You do an incredible job - fantastic content. Wish you the best for this channel.
Great vid
Concise! Great vid.
What a fantastic video!!!👊
Perfect analysis and so on point 👍👍👍
Alison was liverpool's best signing this season
1 defeat all season in the Premier League
The saviour in the barcelona comeback
And the brick wall in the Champions League final
Anfield's hero
Also kept them in it in the 1st place the big save vs milik and napoli at anfield
I was saying
If not for Alison, liverpool would not be talking about a 6th European trophy
@@K.I.N.G_Jah everyone played their part. Without trent or robbo we wouldn't have won. Without matip and vvd we wouldn't have won. Without Origi and Shaqiri we wouldn't have won...you see where this is going so I'll stop there. Ynwa
great video
Can you do a longer video of who Liverpool should sign in the summer transfer window your really good 👌 who should Liverpool sign in January was really good
Trent is such a good young talent
Arguably the best RB in the world.
Statman Dave would agree
@@StatmanDave no. Joshua kimmich is the best defender in the world. Forget best right back
@@vybhavbadri4002 lol vvd?
@@vybhavbadri4002 trent is just 21,has a much higher potential ceiling. Has better feet than JK. It's a close call but i do think kimmich is better defensively but trent has the X factor in him, maybe because of his extremely high level of intelligence (not talking about that barca game),and that comes through in games.
So Right analysis 👏👍
really good video
Liverpool need an equally capable second team to win all silverwares. And Klopp knows that.
we just need NEVER GIVE UP
I like the bit at the end about how the evolution could continue, but where does Hendo fit into that? He got released to be more attacking in the 2nd half of the season, plus his presence on the pitch can be invaluable. No question about the analysis of Fabinho's role. With the addition of VVD and Allison there was clearly backline improvement, but Fabinho is immense.
Ok now I see where Timo fits in. All I want to see is that pressing from a couple of seasons ago. 😭
Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best football channel on UA-cam
Don’t think he’ll sign any big names, I’m sure he will put his trust in Oxlade ,Shaquiri and Lalana. No point in making a big signing, it will just cause uncertainty in the locker room.
this is brilliant
damn this video perfectly summed up what klopp has done and what he should do in the transfer window. Although I do think he'll still to 433, shifting to fabinho-gomez-VVD at the back and everyone else pushed forward during the attacking phase. thus allowing salah/mane to be closer to goal compared to if they were played wide in a 4231. just need bruno fernandes and some actual fullback cover. signing bruno would also allow klopp play 442 diamond with bruno/ox/keita/fabinho in midfield and rest one of the front 3, whom we dont have quality cover for either.
Wtf the 433 with a midfield diamond is probably the best formation possible. Not everybody pushes forward tho, wijnaldum is a box2box, hendo is a playmaker, milner and ox also box2box, keita in the mezzala role and fab is a dm frank rijkaard style. We dont need new signings because we already have an overload in midfield with ox and keits recovering so we dont need new players there. The only thing i could imagine is sign a winger backup but we already have shaqiri
@@ijp789 left wing back up for mane is what we needed
@@ijp789 ease up dude, he's saying that 433 is best, but 442 will be a better backup than 4231. We need a separate 11 all together ,you should realise that we'll be competing for 6 trophies next season. We'll need two separate 11s for that. And I've a sneaky suspicion that city will spend big this season, atleast madrid have done their business and are out of the way.

Great Vid Statman DAVE!
We love you dave
We still haven't replaced the creatuve outlet in midfield when Coutinho left. Keita played better for Leipzig when part of a double midfield pivot & has also suffered from injuries since joining. Sancho would be a class addition in the summer, had add the creativity, unpredictability, penertation & goal threat from midfield. I think reverting to a 4-2-3-1 with Firmino, Mane, Salah & Sancho all rotating positions would prove difficult for the opposition to counter imo
I think they could do with a backup winger/ striker as mane and Salah dont have much competition and maybe a creative midfielder
Callum my thoughts exactly! Origi is more of a replacement for Firmino. But we don’t have a replacement for Mane or Salah
@@sumatkt origi isn't a replacement for Firmino either. Origi's a poacher while bobby is false 9. However,we need a player who can play the CF position and LW as well. We have shaq for salah(as shown against barca). But no one can play mane's position, that's why we are constantly linked with werner/pepe/felix etc.
@Tiger Stripe agreed, i think a big name signing is in the works for a forward who can play on the left. LB is an interesting position, lets see who we can get.
@@ashishtripathi6600 Origi isn't a poacher at all his off the ball movement isn't that impressive, and he actually plays CF and LW
@@bri1085 how isn't he a poacher?? He waits for his chances and puts them away, right place at the right time. Look at all his goals this season, apart from that watford goal he never had ball on his feet. He just gets into good positions and buries the ball. That's a classical poacher.
I don't get what you're trying to say.
His off the ball movement is good enough to get into positions to get a shot away, that in my thinking is a job of a poacher. Rebounds, accurate crosses and opening in the box, he's scored from those positions.LW and CF require lots of intelligent movement and he doesn't have that.
I don't see any other trait to define his play, he's been a poacher for us this season and quite a good one at that.
An even more confusingly efficient rundown there Dave! Thanks, 'twas interesting as ever.
I can tell you our FB are going to be much more dangerous next season because they are now having pop shots at goals in UCL final because defenders are expecting crosses which give space and time to shoot.
I agree the change in that attacking setup, as well as the midfield was key to how Liverpool r doing now yep yeah. The full backs r important as well yep yeah just gotta get that run from Trent Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson and just know that Fabinho and Van Dijk, whoever is paired with him just will cover them
Imagine if we had signed Bruno :)
😉
I would love to see a real number 10 like -as you mentioned- Bruno Fernandes, Fekir or bring back Coutinho I know this would be a pain for most of us as fans but honestly he would work in our system. He knows the team, the stadium, has played under Klopp and is a good player. Anyway John Wayne Henry- the LFC owner- has already confirmed that we will be making new signings so I can't wait!
Nope, coutinho has shown mental fragility since his move to barca, he's finished. Yes,bruno fernandes/fekir are obvious choice although bruno has many more pros over fekir. I'll also like a look into Aouar and Maxi gomez of Marseille. Especially Gomez,he might be available fo less than 30 million is 21 and plays quite like veratti, one for the future. Konate/milenkovic for CB,halstenberg/Tierney for LB. Werner/pepe for CF
I think Chamberlain could play in play making role for klopps 4-2-3-1.
@@rickyallen3074 Imagine TheDoctorRedstone's disappointment at the close of transfer window today.😂😂
Back to your point,i think Keita and Ox will have big roles this season, especially Keita,he needs 35+ games this season if we are to win PL or UCL.
with the hi fitness state of brewster, ox, Lallana, shaqiri, gomez, origi. we're good to go.maybe another versatile strikerwould do
Why don't consult for Manchester United, I think you're more tactically capable than our current manager and or board
now every single talented player is linked to United, as if they gonna build a squad of 50 players.
I belive he should keep the same system he has and improve it by just improving the bench. I feel ziyech would be perfect backup for both mane and Salah, but he probably end up in bayern. Origi also deserves a real chance as a top striker should he put fabinho down to midfield.
I just don't think liverpool need to buy many players. Replace the players that gets away and spend money on contract extensions and club facilities improvements. So give Milner and Origi a new contract asap. Sell Lallana, sadly.
i believe even if klopp use the normal tactic in final which is fully attack they would win over the tottenham with even more goal scored but looks like he need to win it this time with more bigger chance which is pragmatic tactic. i think its a clever and wise move from him.
Good video barring your tactical break down of the ucl final...it was quite a poor game there wasn't much tact or clever switching of tactics it just looked a game of too kind of nervous teams there was absolutely no midfield play in the match so many turn overs and misplaced passes ..i do agree it was very Mourinho like in how liverpool approached the game but i wouldn't say it was genius from klopp..notwithstanding he is a top top manager and a brilliant football brain
Liverpool should go all out for Son.
He's deffo needed imo. There's no cover for Mane on the left side. Son can also play as a striker in a 4-2-3-1. He said we should go for Werner. Why not Son instead? He's a way better option.
@@PriyanshAjania because son isn't a better option

if klopp wanted 4-2-3-1 he could have already done it. With origi at striker and firmino behind him. Oxlade is back and he could play behind firmino aswell, either in 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, but I think 4-3-3 is the ideal for klopp currently. Mainly because he has many midfielders(most of them are short), only hendo and fabinho got some height. There are even a lot of games, where on paper liverpool doesnt play with striker, firmino on f9 and its been working great.
I love your vids but really disagreed with your opinion on klopp changing to a 4231.we should be keen on keeping that midfield diamond (cruijffs diamond with a false nine and two narrow wingers)
He's a true Manc,he knows that our team in its 4-3-3 can rule Europe for next 3-4 years and wants send a false perception. Even in it's evolved form 4-2-3-1 offers too much risk, that's why klopp has effectively ruled out playing that formation in big games.
We need to look for players 23 or younger and leave rest to klopp
@@ashishtripathi6600 true. I agree with what johann cruijff once said that the 4231 is too offensive and provides too much space
Maybe a striker to be more clinical in front of the goal. The team creates many chances but in cagey meetings, first chance has to endup in the back of the net. That's a difference between champions and others.
Im not really sure about Werner, since im a Bundesliga Fan i follow his route and i think he struggled this season maybe Klopp can make him better but now he is not that good. Whats good about Werner is that he would fit as a fast striker, good at counter attacks but he struggled in scoring goals this season. Last season he was better in my mind.
he played 4-2-3-1 this season with shaqiri in the side
In a 4-2-3-1, do you think Keita is more suited as a #6 rather than a #10?
Ye more 6 than 10. He is class from deep.
he was more of a ball progressor from deep back in his leipzig days as they played a 442 system and he would be the one to drive the ball from deep, kinda like what kovacic is doing in chelsea

Imagine if LFC sign Werner, De Ligt, Fernandes, and some full back cover...... damn
if we're going to use 4-2-3-1 we could use origi as our striker and chamberlain or firmino as our midfielder
Timo Werner would be a better choice, because you cant find yourself another Firmino. Have a world class striker to share the burden with Firmino will improve the team vastly because we wont have to rely on Firmino every single game and we will have Firmino to cover for both no.10 and striker role while having Werner replace Sturridge which is a big step forward. However, we can only dream. I highly doubt we will go for any big signing this season. My dream would be Werner, a LB cover and a player to cover Mane. Gomez has to improve his fullback plays as well if we are to rely on him as our RB cover next season
I agree with every point that you just make Dave, clearly they need another good center back to partner up with VVD because Matip is so easily to get injured, and Lovren is not reliable. Second, they need another creative midfielder like Bruno Fernandes for example to initiate the offense and give the flow in that midfield area in case Keita get injured, our midfield 3 is just a good defensive player, Gini, Hendo, and Milner are a defensive type of midfield, only Fabinho who could create a chances for the front 3, we've seen what happened in the UCL Finals right, Liverpool was awful, they couldn't hold the ball and control the game but I think that's the way how they managed their energy in case it goes to ET, if you look at the way how Klopp has implemented his tactics this season, you'll see that he could manage the game better, his tactics is not as aggressive as the season ago
in cb earlier the season gomez and vvd are the first choice. matip and lovren are the backup. their cant buy a new cb unless their sold one.for the midfield 3 work horse midfield in milner, hender, wjnaldum. then they have keita and ox coming back. with lallana as last choice. so it is hard to see another creative midfielder coming in. unless the creative midfield are like fekir and coutinho in which versatile, can play in midfield, but also can play as the front 3.
Liverpool have 4 defenders that could stay for most of the top 6 sides in the Premier League, why would they need a another center back
You look like Timo Werner
😜😜😜😜
Make a transfer show!!
Shaqiri has all what cutinho has. Shaqiri needs more first starts, and not on the wing but in the center
Liverpool Key Success Is HIGH STAMINA N TEAMWORK... PLUS INDIVIDUAL SKILL...
Who do u think can stop liverpool from winning the champions league next season?.
A better team obviously. Just need to wait and see
i can 100% see bruno fernandes joining the reds. it just makes too much sense. we clearly need that role filled and he or someone similar will come.
Timo Werner is the best optioj
Agree with that
Liverpool will sign Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech a versatile full back that can play provide cover left back and centrback and a back up goal keeper.
If Lovren stays i would go for Ryan Sessegnion
@Fredy Sagala thats why he is a natural LWF
Shaqiri is good at no 10 too
Klopp's pragmatic approach won him 97 points in the Premier League but lost him the league title.
He failed to beat City and was lucky to get one point out of two games against them. Compare that to two wins against City in last season CL, especially in the first leg when Liverpool blew City away.
Relentless pressing for 90 minutes beat Barcelona and PSG at Anfield, Bayern and Porto away. Pragmatic Liverpool were not better than Spurs in the CL final.
Can shaqiri play as the creative midfielder?
Akmal Hamdan no, I think not. He’s more one of a powerful attacking midfielder who can add energy but not the creativity of high level we searching for.
He switched from 10 to deep lying playmaker frequently yesterday vs Portugal. He can do the job for us in a 4-3-3 if Klopp plays Fabinho and Henderson as DM's. The pre season will be huge for him. Him and Ox would play a crucial role in terms of creativity. Also Klopp needs to give him more playing time.
alexander arnold is better than maradona
Yep of course he is 🤦🏾♂️😒
Shut up, maradona is one of the greatest, trent is great.
Klopp need to buy an equally intelligent forward to double up as either the false nine in a 4-3-3 or as the playmaker in a 4-2-3-1.

Man City has a big weakness. They lose in the Champions league to the 4th best team in England.
When you bringing you and your united tactics Dave I NEED TO KNOW 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
He just can't describe a vertical defence line🤣🤣

Nothing new in this system, Rosenborg played like this in the -90 when they was really good in the Champions leage. And just look how far they got.
i dont remember they were "really good" at all. liverpool just won the champions League. with this system! and to talk about a decade or two after this is pointless.
Thats how Arsenal should play. They have the strikers like Liverpool, and the wingbacks like Liverpool, now we need 2 centre half and s CDM like Liverpool
The wingbacks like Liverpool... Yeah wake up apart from the strikers that should be performing ON PAPER, and the above average midfield AT TIMES, Arsenal's Defence is a real concern. The wingbacks are practically shit (No offense) but they are far from quality let alone average wingbacks these days.
What Arsenal should do is get a competent manager and back his vision. You cant expect Arsenal to suddenly jump back into their #4 spot with this current squad. Some players they have are abysmal, I dont mind to be honest but I do want more competition from these so called "Big Dogs. They'll get there in time, considering Emery is now out, this is the time to invest in the future. Bring a coach that has a clear vision and let him work his magic, and for the love of god the board should show support. Dont sign players like D. Luiz and expect the defensive situation to be solved.
We won't sign Timo Werner we have Brewster and Origi. We also have 6 midfielders and Grujic returning..
@@Peanutpaeanoid Okay where in the above was I comparing them, learn to read I said we have other options.
@@Peanutpaeanoid If by them playing the same position means I'm comparing them, sure.. Origi has proved he can make an impact, why spend 60+ million and huge wages to have a guy play every fourth game?
@@Peanutpaeanoid Really? Origi was dreadful? A bit harsh I think.. He puts himself about presses well, he's 23 years old he isn't as silky as bobby yes but he has potential. I disagree with you he has proved since Christmas that we can rely on him.
What makes you think that Klopp wants to use a 4-2-3-1? he's evolved and prefers the 4-3-3, they can cover the wide areas better compared to the 4-2-3-1, it's more solid.
I agree that we need to continue to push City but we don't spend money or offer salaries the way City do, therefore big players won't settle for sitting on the bench, aka Mahrez, Sane, Jesus, D Silva, Kompany etc.
@@Peanutpaeanoid Origi is a serious talent. He was storming two seasons ago until Mori did a hatched job on him. He can score big goals in big games, and deserves a chance to build on what he has shown to date.
tino werner signed to bayern
We don't need Werner we hav goat origi
Does anyone really think Klopp would go back to a 4-2-3-1? The diamond and 4-3-3 has worked so well for them, I don’t see them changing it Any time soon. All the players are so used to the formation and system it seems a waste to change it
Fredy Sagala I know, I saw those games. But did they really work out? There’s a reason we shifted back to a 433. I know one of the reasons we used a 4231 was to try and make fab a bit more comfortable, but he seems to fit perfectly in a single pivot
Do Liverpool really need another attacking midfielder? I know they already have player like Ox that can provide creativity in midfield but just in case if he was injured again :/
Harry Wilson will come back
@@PissG Yeah I believe that either Wilson or Bewster will get game time next season.
Klopp recently said he won’t be signing any new players this summer, although i do like the idea of signing Werner and probably another backup full back
Mark Roberts Don’t believe that
he never said that
the only thing liverpool place 8th snd lost the uel bcos alberto moreno play like shithead..glad he will be release
Yeah then that means all teams were stupid they were playing 4-3-3 but actually they should have played 4-4-2 so the midfielders could stop their fullbacks....i guess you would want defensive midfielders in those positions
4-2-3-1 is not the best formation to play when you have such awesome full backs.
It's one of the best formations. The holding midfield players can cover the attacking full backs and the 3 forwards can get in the box.
If your wing backs are great crossers, having a target high and center, who can dump off balls to a RW, LW, or CAM who is charging in is a pretty classic tactic. While I am not sure that is Liverpool at its best, it is a tactic that Spurs used effectively against City and Ajax. It is interesting that a lot of these control teams seem to have trouble with games that become contests in the air. My real question is whether Origi can play well with his back to the goal, or does Liverpool need to go shopping.
Karius didn’t come when you said he did facts wrongs.
Am i the only one who finds peps football similar to Mourinho however just more attacking.
Mané's shirt was 19, not 20.
