Whoever dies and becomes the emissary is whatever character you got the closest with in terms of relationships. So if you marry her prior to The Eye quest, she's pretty much destined to die.
Not for me. I was married to Sarah, but Sam died for me. She was on the eye, and so I went there to save here (was my logic at the time) Then sam died at the lodge.@@jamesknows5910
I like this about starfield, depending on how you play through the story, or entirely randomly, big events like these can change drastically, and it only gets better with NG+, absolutely loving this.
Still can't side with either. But I always talk them down instead of fighting them, because part of the fight scene shows you fighting in The Lodge against hostile members of Constellation. I suspect it's not just an illusion but you actually destroying Constellation in another universe, so I refuse to do that.
@@zackearl3200 I chose to save Sam, knowing full well Sarah would die, because of Cora. Even though I'd romanced Sarah, I couldn't leave Cora without a dad.

Eh could be onto something but this games story is so confusing it’s just keeps giving us more questions than answers plus. If you played the game, well you know unless you don’t care about spoilers of course?
@jamesvarela233 I haven't played but Ik there's some semblance of continuity. The Hunter Hunts Constellation, The Emissary has a discussion with The Hunter. The Wayfarer has to put into action what is discussed between the Hunter and The Emissary. Everytime, Every Reality. The point of a Starborn is to Build the Armillary. I assume since Unity "calls" the Starborn, The Armillary will never fully be constructed i.e. The more Starborn called is the more Starborn Killed. I dunno, Todd's fucking Cooking something weird
@@0malleyAlleyc4t well Todd is just all kinds of special here, honestly to me in gameplay and everything else here it’s just darn lazy to me. Like super weird lazy writing.
@jamesvarela233 I don't think it's lazy, I think it's art. It can mean whatever you want it to mean. Perhaps the emissary is an angel and the hunter is a devil, starfield is purgatory, and the Unity is the moment when God judges your soul. Perhaps the universe is a complex simulation and the Unity is the ending point where the simulation loops back to the start, like the Matrix. I like the open-ended nature of the story, because it does the thing that sci-fi was invented to do: force you to ask questions about human purpose and morality outside of the established rules of possibility.
The reveal that your dead friend is the Emissary is good. I wish they'd built up someone more than Aquilus though. Like I can't be the only one who asked "Who?" when his face popped up there. Made the Hunter seem really fucking lame.
especially since you came to know the Aquilus of your own universe at a much later time in the main quest, and seeing him wear that goofy ass religious hat, lol... at least one version of him became a badass or something, lol
@@DoodlingHitman No, The Keeper was The Hunter before, not the other way around. He is a Starborn, he has been in more universes than The Hunter, but after a while, he chose to settle down. The only question is why are there multiple variations of Starborn Aquilus? Yes, in some universes you can meet multiple Starborn versions of yourself, but Aquilus seems to be consistent in all universes and from different time periods (Aquilus is older than The Hunter, yet appears in universes before his younger version). Aquilus even knows that The Hunter wants him dead and knows exactly why.
Yeah, that just seemed like a cheap "shock value" moment. There's no good reason for it to be Aquilus as far as I can tell. The emissary being a member of Constellation, on the other hand, makes a lot of sense.
The emissary is whoever you let die in your first playthrough. If im not wrong it can change with each ng+. For example my first emissary was Barret but every ng+ after that was Sarah
@@PickleNick7008 true I just thought it was more fitting Barret is the Emissary since you and him have a connection to the artifacts and on a personal level
The best is to talk to Keeper in New Atlantis at the begining of a ng+, "Hey!" "hey, oooh so you know" "yes" "hem, please don't talk". My Waifu Andreja was the Emissary, I took the too rational choice of defending the lodge assuming by the time I got to the eye they would have been dead anyway... I was "man that's ef up". I killed both of them, now I will farm the ng+ like the universe is my playground, people are like NPC to me, they can die I don't care, they don't matter, I will see them again in the next universe repeating again and again... (Honestly I freaking love what bethesda did with the ng+, it is literally part of the story, it change the experience of the game sooooo much, it's incredible)
My first character to get a NG+ married Sarah first, explored the galaxy, and then, when he went through, Sarah followed. The Hunter and the Emissary were both still alive at that point, so undoubtedly they later went through themselves eventually; as well as any starborn who hadn't been killed by that point. All of whom were randomly scattered among new universes, even, seemingly, if they died before the armillary was built. This... seems weird. Why doesn't the player reincarnate when he dies the way the other Starborn do in NG+ games? Shouldn't dying during a NG+ just immediately start a new NG+? The Hunter can remember being killed by the Emissary multiple times, so clearly starborn don't -need- to reach unity to come back. And since that's how it works, why does the Hunter even care? Its only the first time winning that matters. This implies the Hunter gets absolutely nothing out of his work; that he is simple collecting artifacts and murdering people out of some sadistic murderous joy.
When he says a version of him, he means that it wasn't him but a variant. He even implies more versions of him could exist in the same universe. It's confusing but being a starborn seems pointless. It's like living in a loop.
The issue there is that he still has memories from one who died. Which means that, even if you die, you still get reborn in another universe. The Emissaries and Hunters are trapped in an eternal war; the only impact of which is reducing the number of people who keep getting added to the numbers of the Starborn, not actually hurting the other side.@@moiceslopez8788
