A sustainable quote that has inspired me recently: “Shop second hand until it’s second nature.” I still love supporting sustainable brands, but this quote has really helped me in areas where the best sustainable option is preloved.
What a great quote!! I have really been embracing that lately. I haven't bought a new piece of clothing in forever, I love to thrift shop! Hey! I know very little about investing which is why I specifically chose an ISA (which is a UK savings acount) and I went with a company that offered a managed Stocks & Shares ISA that was both socially and environmentally responsible. I would highly recommend looking up financial channels that are more qualified than me to give any sort of advice.

Shave once a year,I only shave if I go swimming.i was told tacky honey on bit of tissue.not tried it myself.well not been swimming for two years just aswel I only see my own body and even then I try wash without ,ookinb
Each week before I go to the supermarket or order a groceries delivery I make a tub of "things to use up first" which is in the most accessible part of the fridge, and try and think of meals to use them up. Love these other things that I hadn't considered though!
cleaning and decluttering videos makes me inspired to clean myself, and luckily this video made me inspired to check my pantry and fridge for what to eat first! thank you for that :)
On the shaving front I switched to an Epilator about 18 months ago, and find it work wonderfully. I don't intend to replace it, (unless it breaks and I can't repair it). It works personally for me, as I found shaving caused ingrown hairs, whereas the Epilator doesn't, and the hairs come back less, so I don't necessarily need to do it as often.
One of my favorite ideas for reuse is using boxes in place of bags or plastic bins first. This started accidentally, when I wanted to get a bin to help organize my fridge, I found a sturdy box that was perfect, and now I have a box of potatoes, a box of jars and lids, boxes of pads etc. In a house where there’s ALWAYS amazon or Costco boxes around, it’s helped keep my plastic usage down. Typically the boxes last a really long time, but even just using the box (or a few) out to the end of its life cycle, while not pretty, can help you use less plastic since eventually that bin will break and you’ll need to replace it.
I tried pickled carrots for the first time thanks to your food prep video, and they're lovely! No more mouldy carrots in the fridge. Great video, as always ❤
Thank Immy, this was great. Would you feel comfortable making a video about ISA/ investing into sustainable companies - how you pick and which ones? Thanks x
You're one of the only sources I trust to evaluate brands because you show that you do your research and say what you think. Figuring out the most sustainable option is difficult, and I appreciate your help.
What a nice informational and calming video, I would be interested in learning more about your choices in investing... Edit: I really appreciate, that you use the chapters tool 🙂
On a weekly basis I use biodegradable cleaners for any task, including laundry. I also have reduced the amount of product I use for any task to a third, and works great. We also hang dry our clothes I use a shampoo bar for my hair and a soap bar for my hands, face and body. No plastics! I don’t buy paper books, I visit my library every week instead
Right now, a lot of my weekly sustainable habits revolve around my laundry routine, as it's currently the place where my sustainable habits are the most consistent. This starts before I go anywhere near a washing machine. I wear extra layers under my clothes, which, while not why I started doing it, keeps them cleaner for longer. I also make sure I'm only washing clothes that have actually gotten dirty/smelly, and not just 'cause I've worn them once. I run laundry once a week, and always make sure it's a full load. I use lower-waste detergent situations as much as possible, and I run my loads on tap cold and a low spin cycle, to lower energy use, and extend my clothes' lives. After that, I sort my load in two groups: to go in the dryer, and to hang dry. I line dry (or dry on a rack) anything that would felt or shrink, my favorite pieces, and sometimes more if I'm up for it. I run everything else through the dryer on low heat. Once it's all dry, I go through and inspect all of my clothes for wear, tears, and anything else needing mending or maintenance. Anything damaged goes in the mending pile, and the rest gets folded. This lets me catch a lot of little holes and rips before they become big problems. This inspecting is actually my favorite part of my laundry routine! I love putting love and care into my clothes, and taking the best care of them I can. Well, that got long. Whoops. Lovely video, as always!
You may want to double-check, but I think that using the faster spin cycle goes a long way towards reducing drying time (which, with heat, is more energy-intensive).
@@froggydoodle808 A very good point! I'll have to ponder that. I mostly switched to a lower spin speed because of an auto setting on my washer (long story), but I have noticed my clothes come out wetter, and it's harder to get them dry. Now that I'm thinking about it, this would explain quite a bit of the issues I've been having with things souring if I hang them to dry indoors. Thanks for bringing that up, it's definitely got me thinking!
@@shenenigans2037 your laundry woes, like your laundry routine, sound eerily similar to mine! My spin cycle stopped working entirely during last week's socks & undies load, and my dryer chose that moment to emit a worrisome natural gas smell, so I decided to hang each and every item on a rolling clothes rack to dry under a ceiling fan. Later I wheeled it out to the patio, and they dried pretty fast there. I'm thinking of putting up a clothesline in my patio for faster drying... Only one neighbor can see into my patio, and they already know I'm a weirdo.
I love when you do this type of video! They all feel like resources to return to in the future when I'm thinking about more sustainable steps. Mostly you're making me feel lazy for not cleaning things regularly enough, though. 😅

Hi Melanie... I don’t know how old you are, but I think I might have some good news for you (perhaps future good news). I’m 57, and after menopause I found that my body hair practically quit growing. It’s almost like it disappeared, and now the need to shave is almost non-existent. I used to be that person who shaved every second day or so... I intensely disliked having “cactus legs”... but now that seems to be a thing of the past. I guess this one of the silver lining things that is a part of gently aging. I hope you are having a great day.
Thank you for talking about Neat (?) I didn't know about it. Could you please talk about your favourite UK sustainable brands, particularly cleaning products?
Just saying, it's no more necessary to sterilise period underwear, than it is for usual underwear. Menstrual blood is no dirtier than our usual excretions. Good to see younger people being concerned about wastefulness and natural living.
It really is! Especially when you actually start getting the hang of it. My bf was actually the one to show me how easy pickling vegetables is, so I owe him!

Do you know about seed cycling? :) Seed cycling is a naturopathic remedy that is claimed to balance hormones by regulating the hormone estrogen in the first half of your menstrual cycle and the hormone progesterone in the second half. The most common method instructs women to eat 1 tablespoon each of freshly ground flax and pumpkin seeds per day for the first 14 days of their menstrual cycle, which is known as the follicular phase. During the second half of their cycle, which is known as the luteal phase, seed cyclers eat 1 tablespoon each of ground sunflower and sesame seeds per day until the first day of their next period when their cycle starts again.

Thank you for mentioning sprouts, that container is awesome!! I had been thinking about starting my own and you sort of reminded me 😅😘💓 I'm ON IT
I really appreciate how much work you put on your videos✨ thank you for sharing these amazing tips with us and keeping us more conscious and sustainable🌿 Lots of love from Finland🤍
Great tips. I just ordered some Neat
Once a week shaver ? Being lazy ? What am i as it is once a month even less 😁 ultra lazy ? Like you i don't care :D. Love your video
I hope you are having a great day.
hahaha I should have put 'once a week ABSOLUTE MAXXX'
I just bought a metal zero waste shaver and I love it!!
How do you sterilise your jars? I normally just add boiling water and hope for the best
Thank you for talking about Neat (?) I didn't know about it. Could you please talk about your favourite UK sustainable brands, particularly cleaning products?
I cook at least once a week my own soy milk and bake my own bread , this really did reduce the amount of waste I had.
I love you videos!! Thank you 🥰
Loved this video! Is there somewhere I can find what you use for tech gear & what you recommend?
For cameras I use camera jungle, I also use Mazuma and ebay!
could u tell me when u got those sprouting trays?
Love all your content 💚
What deep conditioner do you use?
such sustainable habits we should all do :) but i was just wondering, do you use Ecosia?
Yes! I love Ecosia I've been using it for years!
Just saying, it's no more necessary to sterilise period underwear, than it is for usual underwear. Menstrual blood is no dirtier than our usual excretions. Good to see younger people being concerned about wastefulness and natural living.
I am doing my dissertation on seagrass and fish diversity
Loved this video!
How do you eat so many sprouts? I get them sometimes from my csa but I don't know how to eat all of them before they go bad
These are for a family of 4 people! But also I love them haha so I eat them most meals
i can totally relate to the newly found love for pickling and fermenting veggies
It really is! Especially when you actually start getting the hang of it. My bf was actually the one to show me how easy pickling vegetables is, so I owe him!
Love this!!! Also, what recipe do you use for your bread? :))
Hello! I'm from TX in the US and found it interesting nobody was wearing masks at the Farmer's Market. Is there not a threat of COVID where you live anymore?
I imagine it’s pre-Covid b-roll. Everyone’s wearing shorts and t-shirts in the clip and I’m sure it’s not that warm in the UK yet.
Hey! We're still in lockdown here in the UK so I decided to use some footage as Brittany said from a couple summers ago. We very much all wear masks here!
@@SustainablyVegan Makes sense. In TX our governor lifted the mask mandate so I understand it is different everywhere. I wish our state would be more like the UK. Thank you for your content!
Loved it.
I’d love to know more on green finances in the uk as seem for USA but doesn’t always work the same.
What's your thermostat set too
Hi Immy! Wonderful video, it really inspired me! I have been trying to make my own yogurt with a yogurtnest bag. I'm trying out loads of different options with plant-based milks and vegan yogurt starters, but also trying cow milk from glass bottles (because my family isn't vegan and right now I'm mainly focusing on reducing the amount of plastic/non-returnable glass yogurt pots... cuz seriously). I was also wondering if you use a guppyfriend/cora ball/microfibre filter (e.g. planetcare) when washing your clothes, and if you had any tips/any experience ;) I would love to hear it!
Great video. What was the name of the reusable cleaning product?
It's called NEAT xx
@@SustainablyVegan thanks
Ohhhh such a nice videoooo
hi Immy! I love your content and I am excited to put some of these habits in my own roster! What were those pads that you put your jars on near the end f the video? Much love from Windsor Ontario
Dear Immy, can you show me how to invest sustainably? I really want to do it but I don't know how. Nat Xx
i shop at winco because it is in my budget, but everytime i get produce i have to use those small plastic bags, does anyone know any tips or any way to not have to use them?
Great video. Yum I love sprouts and I’m a sucker for a good mayo, may have to give a go at making it 😋. Please may I ask where you got/what brand is your navy shirt I love it 🤩.
Yay me tooo! It was my mums I think she got it from Seasalt a Cornish brand!
She deserves lot more ttention than she gets. I wish more people think that way. You rock it. :)

Awesome, subscribing, I'd love to learn about fermenting & pickling jars of organic goodness 🥒😄
Loved this video! Interesting and beautiful :)
