The best scene is when Andor finally asks Kino: "How many guards are on each level?" "Never more then twelve."
And the show has no more than twelve episodes
@@Bruno-xi7qz s2 has 12 too so ig the never more than 12 thing works there too lol
This was probably my favourite scene
YES! That Was Brilliant writing!!!
They brilliantly set it up in the start. And then gave the twist in the end.
The acting in this scene is phenomenal!
The acting, period. It was The Expanse levels of acting.
this whole arc was maybe my favorite small arc in television
Andy serkis is a master class of show not tell with facial expressions. You can see the entire conflict clearly on his character's face so the final revelation of freedom at the end was all the better seeing the constant conflict.
Man deserves so many awards
His ability to slip fluidly and almost instantly between emotional expressions is something else.
"I can't swim."
@@jwoellhof So heartbreaking...really makes his actions heroic even moreso. He inspired them all to break out and lead the charge, possibly knowing he wouldn't make it past that point regardless.
But in the end he died a free man. He broke out of the programming and also had an impact on so many people's lives. Every man who escaped had family, friends, they all left a hole somewhere when they were taken away.
He could die free from the prison and free in his mind and heart, and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he played a major role in setting all those men free and stood firm against the empire. We should all be so lucky
@@webkid4567He’s coming back in season 2
This isn't just great Star Wars, it's great writing.
And it’s brought to you by Disney! So that means it sucks!
- Star Wars “fan”
@Shadowkey392 but it's not brought by Disney it's brought by the shows writers who did a better job than any other Disney Wars show
@@Daniel-Cruz and who brought those writers to work on this project? Disney.
@@Shadowkey392 even a broke clock is right twice a day. It really shows how incompetent they are if they have the ability to hire the right people to make good Star Wars yet fail 9/10 times
@@Shadowkey392 u are braindead, ofc they sometimes manage to hire the right people to work on starwars, and still, in 12 years have only a couple of products that are considered good is wild asf
I love how his non-verbals just speaks “oh sh*t oh sh*t oh sh*t” without even having to open his mouth. Like we know EXACTLY what’s going through his mind. Extremely well played.
Both of them should get an Emmy
Bro the whole "empire frying the entire sector 2" felt so real! I was truly frightened and felt horror, something I haven't felt in a long time watching movies and series
This has to be some of the best STARWARS I’ve ever seen. Other than the last 2 hrs of clone wars
Last 2hrs of clone wars is peak SW man🤙🏻🤙🏻
I class them as two separate worlds entirely. CW is animated, Andor is live action. Both are best in their categories.
I SAID THE EXACT SAME THING. YOU SIR, ARE A MAN OF CULTURE
Last eps of clone wars is honestly the best star wars there is
Honestly one of the best sci-fi series I have seen. the dialogue, the acting, the suspense, the world building..... A work of art 👏👏👏
Some of the best monologues in the last 3 episodes. But that escape episode- kino and luthern.... Sacrifice? Everything!
Both Serkis and Sarsgaard were phenomenal.
Every scene in the prison was a masterpiece
Yeah, I just watched series because I kept hearing good things about it, but wasn't really digging it. It wasn't until Andor was sent to the prison that I became mesmerized. I now realize that it's because of Andy Serkis, who is uniquely capable of injecting real emotion into every thing he does. One of the great living actors.
The brison break episode was Kino... lol
I really love when Cassian keeps asking kino about the guards but kino is still in his mindset he's gonna walk free. Then after the moment they find out freedom won't be given to them, Cassian asks again how many guards are on the level, and kino replies, "no more than 12"
The greatness of "Andor" goes beyond Star Wars.
The show is objectively amazing in writing, acting and atmosphere.
I almost forgot that it was Star wars until i watched Acolyte right after and realized, oh right Andor didn't had those SW typical fadeouts and transitions
@@Pointman11111 What is unfortunate for most Star Wars movies and shows is the fact that it is beholden to the styles two directors (Lucas and Abrams) who have annoying scene transition and screen effect styles. Also, neither of them can write their way out of a paper bag without a lot of supervision (which Lucas had no one to provide for the Prequels and Kathleen Kennedy is too hands off to provide for 7 and 9).
Andy serkis is such a great actor and it’s so good to see his actual face and emotion than have it behind a character.
The only problem that I see, it's that I must wait for the next season. On program!
“…Oh crap”

Idk why people haven't been more receptive to andor. It's an amazing show. Sure no jedi or force. But it shows how regular people find a way to stand up to subjugation. It really is about the regular people who have to stand up and fight for their ability to be free
I never understood the obsession with Jedi in the Star Wars Fandom. Yeah they are cool. Yeah I liked Luke. But he was the hero archetype.
And it was setup in ANH that he was 'special', his father was a great Jedi, Obi Wan had been waiting to train him when he thought Luke was ready. And Empire just cemented that with the Vader revelation.
But every other hero wasn't. Han was just a scoundrel who got roped into things, dragging his best friend/mechanic Chewie along with him.
The Rebels might have believed in the Force, but they couldn't use it. They didn't have magic and ghosts helping them, they had been fighting back against the Empire for years without literal Deus ex Machina on their side.
Those were always the characters I liked.
Like Wedge Antilles, who made it through all 3 OG movies as essentially a red shirt, and ended up destroying more Death Stars than Luke, the Hero!
In the Legends Canon, my favorite book series were the ones that followed those characters, because its a very different universe when you aren't a force user who can deflect lasers and mind control people.
A much more mundane, much more dangerous one.
Because people who says they like Starwars, a whole lot of them, like it on very surface level. They don’t even able to recognize good story.
@@Soft_Ghost that's relatively common sadly. They like something, can recognize that it is good, but not really think about why, and latch onto the things that are obviously different as the obvious reason why it's good.
That's why I think so much hate is put on Jar Jar in the Prequels, and to a different extent Jake Lloyd for his kid Anakin.
On the surface, TPM should be better than the OT, because it's got MORE Jedi! A whole palace of them! And it's got better than a princess, a Queen! And Obi Wan! And Yoda! And R2 and 3PO! And special effects and ships and lasers and a bad guy who has a double lightsaber! All the 'Star Wars' things!
But everyone says it sucks.
How can it suck? It has all the Things! Turned up to 11!
It's because of JarJar! Yeah. He's not Starwar. And Darth Vader is supposed to be cool and intimidating, not some annoying slave kid.
JarJar is kind of annoying. And a kid Vader wasn't what you might have expected from the old movies.
But they aren't that bad. Not to the level they get blamed.
And it's because to many 'fans' Star Wars= Good, and Good Star Wars= Lightsaberz, Jedi, da Force. And since TPM had all the Good Star Wars things, but wasn't 'Good' Star Wars, they can't figure out why it wasn't good, so have to blame equally surface level reasons for it being 'bad'.
It's too much to say 'good story concept let down by bad dialog and pacing, and questionable directing choices'.
The Phantom Menace is actually a remarkably original movie for a prequel to a very well established IP, from sets to world building to costumes to story beats. Unlike the Sequels which just badly copy and paste things from the OT, but in nonsensical ways.
Not everyone's cup of tea, and thats FINE, even if its mine. There is SO much Star Wars content, made by different people, different teams and with different narrative goals. Someone could love Star Wars for the few things that drew them in originally and go on loving it earnestly without caring much for the other aspects of the franchise. There's plenty to dislike about Star Wars but theres a lot to love, if you love ALL of it, every last bit, I think you'd be in the minority.
it's a show that requires you to watch and pay attention not play on your phone with the show on.
Andor is such a good show. lmwao
Another way that Andor challenges the prison is by consistently putting his hands on the SIDES of his head instead of the back
Nothing like having nothing to lose to make you bet it all.
This whole arc was one of the best aspects of the show. I loved when they’re finally escaping but he couldn’t swim and we leave him w out know what happens
This and Rogue One are debatably the best Star Wars since the Original Trilogy. Looking forward for the next installment so hard it hurts.
Worth noting that season 2 will be the end of the series. They start filming early this year but stopped because of the strikes. Haven’t heard anything about it since. Really hope they finish it and don’t decide to just can the project.
Without a doubt, Andor is the best show to come out of Disney +
The writing, acting and story direction was so immersive that by the time it was over I cared about every single character
The camera work is phenomenal....The quality is just exceptional....
this show is on another level. such artistry Star Wars has never seen before.
I agree I love this scene and nobody talks about it
You have to be obssesive to enjoy this.
Andor has been the greatest star wars content in years. None of the other shows, especially the last 3 movies , have had any character development or depth.
Cassian had him flustered. No one ever had to tell Kino to get “On Program” until this point. Excellent scene
„This scene is so well“!? You mean this series is so well
Andor is what the all star wars franchise should be.
I hope someone helped him to shore he's such a good character.
The writing on this series is so far above what every other Star Wars project has demonstrated in the last several years. Tony Gilroy and company have done a stellar job and the acting is TOP NOTCH. Andy Serkis absolutely knocked it out of the park and I ope they bring him back for season two (2025). The director of the escape episode has said that "he is surely still alive" so it is a definitely possibility. A reunion between him and Andor would be awesome.
I love this show 👏🏻👏🏻
Andy serkis will always be a W, one of the most skilled actors in the world and by far the number 1 mo cap actor.
Andor to me is just on another level when it comes to the storytelling and the tone of the show. Paired with the sets, on-location scenes, high quality visuals and acting... It's just awesome.
Love this show
*Gollum before he escapes to Mordor*
Andor is an incredible series for sure.
The whole show was brilliant!
Andor gives me hope that great Star Wars storytelling is still possible, even if most of your characters are not legacy characters. Heck, there is no Force, no Jedi, no lightsabers, very few characters that we already know and only one space battle (but what a battle it was!) and yet it FEELS so much more like Star Wars than anything we've seen for years.
Great scene, great show.
I was never a really huge Star Wars fan. I thought the idea of Star Wars was great but it was never executed to a level where I could really enjoy it. I’m 47 years old and I knew this as a child. It just was never my flavor and going into an adult same thing Until rogue one, and this show came out and by far The best thing I’ve seen from this property and I’ve watched all Star Wars properties, virtually with the exception of a few of the animations in their entirety I felt was the best that Star Wars has ever had to offer Andor in rogue one is by far my favorite
i wish more people would know about this show ...they r missing out
This show is incredible
Power doesn’t panic 🔥
Not kidding this is the only show on Disney that I whatch like 6 times, also y recommend it to all mi friends, season 2 please don't suck🙏
My favorite aspect of Kino Loy was they kept Andy Serkis's involvement a surprise from what I remember so it was great seeing him have this phenomenal role after doing Snoke.
It brought me back to his performance as Caesar in the Apes trilogy and I loved every bit of his time on Andor.
Andor felt like Eastenders in space
A single moment in Andor, pause the screen at any time, has more thought than most other shows on Disney+, at least.
This whole story arc blew me away. I was kind of devastated by it and heartbroken for Andy Serkis' character. Stunning acting and production design.
If only other SW shows were this good...
I love the quote:
"You think they're listening?! You think they care enough to make an effort?"
It encapsulates society's attitude and fears towards the empire. The sheer paranoia of being watched and heard because of the fear of consequences by the empire.
While the empire itself is just sitting on their asses, enjoying the view and the look of constant fright on its citizens.
Little do citizens know, most of the empire have become complacent, similar to how the jedi was before the purge.
Say what you will. I loved Andor and can’t wait for season 2. I know they finished filming and I believe it’s set to realease in the fall if I’m not wrong
I stayed away for 2 months. Kept hearing hype, thought it was fanboying. Finally sat down to the whole thing last week, and…nope. The buzz is legit. The *show* is legit. It’s actually a shame it’s bound to Star Wars as an IP. It felt like I was watching an episode of mid-Battlestar, when they were colonizing planets.
So sad when Gassian escapes - and admits he cannot swim.
The only show that isn't a Disney Kids' Series
Always assume, that if the government is corrupt, you'll never be allowed to ever be released...
"I can't swim."
Dude, good analysis.
The only piece of Star Wars where the bad guys actually feel frightening. I will always recommend Andor.
Andor looks like he's afraid to touch his hair.
❤❤
That moment when you see gollum dressed in an ape suit dressed in a human suit wearing chefs clothes putting on a red-white vest
For a series that started off just okay, like just another Disney+ Star Wars series like Mando or Boba Fett, it got really intense, exciting, emotional, and epic!!
This was actually a TV show…
Best Star Wars anything since 1983.
The Old Logan!
When people complain that the Prequels are bad because the character performances are dull and lifeless, *this* is the polar opposite of that.
what a power shift
I know andor is slow..
But it's starwars slow
Which is Great !!!!!
Just as good as the fighting
I wouldn't even consider it slow, unless compared to 30 second UA-cam shorts that put GTA footage over an interview for some reason
The problem with the show isn't that it's slow, that's a refreshing element. The problem is that it goes nowhere while taking forever to get there.
It is a tad bit dialogue heavy
It’s for Adults, the MCU and the late SW movies have been so action heavy that we are forgetting to appreciate good writing/acting/cinematography
There are no bad scenes in this show.
Not taking anything away from the acting but a scene like this needs lots of stuff to go right: the writers need to trust the audience, the director and editors need to understand the assignment, and the studio money needs to stay away and not demand reshoots as a result of something someone said in a focus group.
Bro so does he die since he can't swim?
We don't know.
Hope we can see andor season 2
If we don’t see him again you just gotta make that up for yourself
Prob,. Yea. Every Man for himself...
Yes
SEASON 2 NOOOOOOOW
" never more than 12"
What does he say? I couldnt make it out.
name ?
I just realized this but was Andor inspired at all by George Lucas first film? THX II38. Which was way too politically heavy and brainy for people at the time. It made a lot of commentary and it wasn't quite as fantastic or fun as Star Wars, it was serious and it had a message. Just like Andor, which I love Andor. The aesthetics and commentary kind of seem similar?
Some asshat on Instagram told me Ahsoka was better than Andor. 🤣
KKKino Loy
Movie??
Andor. It’s a Star Wars tv show. Some of the best television out
The prison was the best sequence in the whole show. We should take better care of prisoners in our world!!!
Andor>Ashoka
Never more than twelve
andur
Still think he’s Snoke
Why explain the scene rather than just show it to us
Watch the show?
Yo mama
So glad they gave Serkis a role actually worth something
Holy crap, thanks for pointing this out. I love this series and this moment still totally flew past me.
Andor is after mandalorian the best sw show
Mandalorian is a very, very good show and brought me back to SW fandom but I have to give Andor the edge in being the best all-around SW show.
@@ryangossett8211 yeah
Andor is what the all star wars franchise should be.
So sad when Gassian escapes - and admits he cannot swim.
