    I enjoyed this video so much! And like you said, every human picks their identity. I don’t see wigs as a thief, neither do I hate my natural hair. I feel the option to be versatile is allowed and so these accessories aid them for us and will continue to.

    I never realized or saw this as an issue until I relocated and I am the only black in my branch. We went for a retreat and I went with my straight long wig and honestly at that moment I felt like an impostor. It looked like I was trying to blend in when I can stand out. To each its own and everyone is entitled to wear whatever makes them comfortable. But since then, I told myself I never want to blend. I am already different, let me kuku be different, hair and all. If I am wearing wig, I am wearing wigs that show who I am as an African.

    Interesting video. I think everyone should rock what made them comfortable so far as it’s not excessive. We should also be careful to not make private dealings a general standard for people. Initially, there was a wave of people moving towards natural hair and everyone relaxing their hair was made to look as if they were loosing their identity. Now, there is a wave of locs and it’s gradually becoming a standard of African beauty. When it comes with natural hair, a lot of people are doing a lot, spending on products and at times the hair will still not grow, it’s a lot I will say. A lot of men don’t understand the convenience that comes with wearing wigs, women are straddling a lot together and at times, just putting up a wig makes life easy. When I wear wig, the last thing I’m thinking, (it does not even come to mind ) is to look like the white. And please tell hubby that maintaining our African hair is also not cheap

      I can totally relate, I am not okay with making personal preferences a general beauty standard except it’s for a common goal and it equally benefits everyone.
      As for caring for our natural hair, you really don’t need to spend a lot on products to care for your hair, you just need a simple routine that works and then you are good. I will be sharing more videos on this in subsequent videos ✨

    Both of you have points that make both of you right. In life every thing has a positive and negative. It's all about creating a balance. Wigs is very helpful for us women making looking good easy and fast. At the same time it should not be an every day thin. It's all about using it without loosing your identity. 😄

    Good conversations but sincerely maintains and keeping African hair is not as easy as it seems. Most men will never understand this because they don’t get to keep it that long. We do not hate our hair, we are not ashamed of it neither. Sometimes it’s just easier for it to be a way. Your hair is not your identity.

    I am down with your husband 👏 women won't listen 😂 a lot of men love women with their natural hair because that's what he would be saying most of the time. A friend of mine Zara and Soso is always on her natural hair and I love it, also there is a girl in my church I admire because she's always on her natural hair 😂 I can keep giving examples 😂 make I no cast myself.

      @Ije_Awele  Рік тому

      So I understand men loving our natural hair more than our wigs, but does that mean it steals our identity?
      And for seeing us mostly on our natural hair, that’s why I also preach caring for your natural hair even if you wear wigs. Our comfort and choice should be valid too.

    • @tonybosei4897
      @tonybosei4897 Рік тому

      @@Ije_Awele it steals your identity 💯 which your husband explained extensively but you no wan gree 😆 first of all what's the meaning of identity? Why do you think some men like it when their wives changes her wigs or hair colors because that gives her an entirely different identity.
      For example when I made my hair I was perceived as a bad boy 😆 some even thought I was a Elon musk boy 😆 but when I went back to my low cut I was perceived as a gentleman. So with these few points of mine, I hope I haven't confused but to convince you 😆😆

    • @Ije_Awele
      @Ije_Awele  Рік тому

      @@tonybosei4897 Hmmm, I don’t think it’s the same context though so I still don’t agree with you. Doing something because your partner likes it or wants it is a whole different conversation and maybe we would have that conversation some other time. Also you making your hair and deciding to loosen it was your choice, maybe based on your industry, personal beliefs or other reasons. At the end of the day it was your choice and your chose your identity.
      With these few points of mine… too😁

    • @marvannie
      @marvannie Рік тому

      Of course, rock your natural hair... Sometimes you will need a wig just to keep the hair away for sometime, our hair has a coily texture and it's hard to maintain. Hers is easier because she loc'ed her hair. If her hair was loose... She will also talk about how natural hair is bad to maintain.

    How about ditching our heels because it steals our identity or because it's not comfy
    Natural hair is not so easy to keep. I appreciate Solutions POV but then it's still my choice to use wigs or not

    I think most if not all men would agree with your husband. Fact remains there is too much pressure to own a wig that some girls forget who they are in the process. So it might seem like they forget themselves and would do anything to own a wig. That being said, don’t let wigs steal your identity sis, send all your wigs to me 😌
