This theme playing as we find out that it was Tikal who ordered the Echidna Tribe to go and bring baby Sonic to her so they can complete his training to be the prophesied chosen one to fight against a danger coming to Mobius. But shortly after he was born, his surrogate mother Longclaw couldn’t stand to see him be put into danger and she selfishly took him away. Tails arrives at the end of the movie because the Echidna tribe was almost all wiped out (except 1 😉), and Tails was sent by Longclaw to bring Sonic back so together with the leftover Echidna (we all know who it is), to stand together and take on the new enemy. Dr. Eggman will pop up last minute and make some comment like, “If anyone is going to kill that hedgehog, it’s me!” And throws sonic the final emerald so so if can become super and finish the final villain.
