@@alzbetal1499 It’s that awkward period in the early ‘90s (1990-1993) that still had leftovers from the ‘80s, but awkward because it wasn’t ‘80s enough to be ‘80s, yet not ‘90s enough to be ‘90s, either.
@@AllezVous222 this happens also with early 00s (nu metal, gothic style, eurodance, CD-R) with the late 00 (lady gaga, Katy Perry, Emos, Facebook, Spotify).
This applies to many decades, but yeah there's some weird transition years here and there. Compare 1993 I will always love you (W. Houston) with 1992 Twilight Zone (2 Unlimited). The first one is like late 80s and the second one was a taste of what was to come.
@@AllezVous222 I’ve always thought the same thing about the early 90s. The mid to late 90s fashion looked completely different. For some reason, this skit reminds me of Vanessa Williams’s “Save The Best for Last”. There’s two versions of her music video, and one of them resembles the skit done here.
The random sign language really put the cherry on top.
“And most gays” yup
I died lol
Hahahah
I like candles. Got one yesterday as a gift.....and I like it! Lol
Not for nothing, the "And Most Gays" boy could get it.
@@takakhan-z3w agreed 😂
7 years later and my brother and I STILL sing this song EVERY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!
"French Tip Records 1994" hahahaha
Brittney Johnson I don't get it...why is it so funny
+Sonny Huynh it's in small print at the very end to make it look like a 90s music video from a made up label called French Tip Records, to further satirize shitty Christmas music
Sonny Huynh i guess because frenchtips were so in during the 90's, would be my guess, and they add to the tackiness
And actually they all 3 have french tip manicure
OMG! Hilaire!!🤣🤣
I CAN SMELL THE 90s
literally my first thought watching this, lol. im an 80s child so i remember the 90s like they were yesterday.
john nava Does it smell like a peach candle?
This video was made in 2016.
Cruz
Jon K *face palm*
It has been 3 years since I heard this song for the first time and I started buying candles after watching this master piece and yesterday I gifted one to a coworker.
Thank you, candle.
"regifted around the world in just one day" lmao.... I'm dying!!
aidy‘s movements 2:06 and the angle for the high note kill me
0:33 Emma's face lol its been such a trademark of hers lol
Next time put the lyrics in video so I can sing along. This music is jamming
HAHAHAHA
it's very Wilson Phillips..
The lyrics are there. Just turn closed captioning on.
Those things never work, the captions are usually off by a mile.
The subtitles are wrong any way.
Emma Stone's hair is totally Amy Grant circa 1991 and her second Christmas album. I was ready for a verse of "Breath of Heaven"
I found one last year for my friend. We always sing this song as a gag to each other. I gave it to her and she was howling with laughter. My fiancé was like now you need to give it back to her next year. He got me a peach candle from IKEA a couple of years back too because of this sketch.
Love the 90s vibe
Sounds more like late 80s
Brea Monai A
Roughnegg OPs probably 14.
Tony H definitely feels early 90s to me, feels just like the tone of that period's Sears commercials
Well it also says "1994 French Tip Records" so you are right that it's 90s.
Low key Emma stone looks really great with curly dark hair like that. Fo sho fo sho!
High key!
They all did tbh
Emma Stone saying, "Our lord and savior, Jesus Christ" in a sultry voice and dropping a wink is my aesthetic.
01:40 made it around the world in just one day. Its a Christmas miracle.
I love how they recreate the early 90s so perfectly.
The blue sweater I wear in the episode gave me a RASH!
A whole song for a dollar candle!
Tsetsi It’s an $8.99 candle. Have some respect for the Christmas savior!
Blaspheme! The true candle is about 9 dollars...
@@z_ed Thought it was about tree fiddy...
@@maryjski dat you, Nessie? 👁️👄👁️
$9 candle. It's in the damn song! Someone fight Tsetsi
No joke, im feeling that bridge at 1:53 😂🤣
This is SO convincingly 90s. Well-done.
Why isn't this song played on the radio instead of "The Christmas Shoes"?
Oh Christmas shoes is the worst. Lol
Anything’s better than that cheesy tear jerker.
I'm convinced the kid in that song is a grifter and his mom's car is full of free shoes that they will sell on eBay
I have found my people! Yes, I would much, MUCH rather hear this on the radio than The Christmas Shoes.
@@georgewang2947 totally, I loathe that song.
'so just give the candle, don't overthink the candle....we all get the candle, we all give the candle, that nine dollar candle, that almost new candle, the gift of having a gift to give away.' brilliant writing, and the music was really good too, and the acting, props, costumes, fur, was fab. And the honesty.. 'passed to every single woman, and most gays'. it is true, and fun... and makes us laugh at ourselves, without shame, too.
No, it's "almost new". It sounds like "new", it's captioned "new", and the terp signs "new".
Can't believe it's been almost a year since this very important work of art came into my life.
A friend of mine unironically got me a candle for Christmas this year and I immediately sent her link. It's not that I don't appreciate the candle (as one of the "and most gays") but I couldn't NOT think of this song the second I opened it. This song has become a holiday tradition for me now.
There's actually some pretty sick chord progressions in there, haha.
Alex Grimes love the reverb on the drums too! Very retro lol
Right?!
"It's the gift of having a gift to give awaaaaay..." LOL!! This is SO true. I love how the peach candle has a cheesey seashell on it haha. Peach & seashell together? Wtf man. I laughed my ass off through this whole song. Yet, they all look amazing & sound GREAT. 💕
