You'd figure in Montana, Grizzly country, that you may run into one, but that's not usually the case, this is just from me watching these Montana bear hunt channels. Is the grizzly more towards the northwest through Canada?
Although there is a lot up in the northwest corner, there is plenty down in the southwest corner as well. Getting to be more and more spreading out all the time.

Congratulations on getting that big all black boar that you have been searching for and thanks for continuing to hunt that other bear that you shot at twice. Not sure if that second shot was high or went through him and kicked up dirt on the rock behind him. We can't hunt bears in the spring here, just in the fall. So our favorite spring quarry in West Virginia is the Eastern Turkey.

I dont know very many people who put in the time and effort to go after an animal year after year. Especially with black bear. Awesome! Thank you for the new perspective! I too am left wondering why that shot was low. 🤷♂️

I personally find spring bears are relatively easy to locate and harvest.
Right on Andrew! I personally find Fall bears relatively easy to locate and harvest. At least in my area. Lots of berry patches.
@@jasonmatzingerofficial We have mountains of 'buffalo berry' along with a few others but basically everything is food. Parks shipped 4 bears out of area the week before i tagged up.
For spring bears, i watch strings of ant hils and use sticks to mark sign so i know when things are new. Usually seems to work.
Im boat camp hunting right now so getting to scout a fairly good tract of land but seeing very little sign. A few old piles and the rest was all ungulate.
novice question: how do hunters know that its the same animal from year to year?
I don't know for 100% certainty especially on something like a bear however, when you spend enough time in one area from year to year over a 20 year period, you start to see trends or movements that make sense. Based on what I know, I believe, it is the same bear.

They do make beautiful bear rugs from them or some people choose to lifesize mount them which is beautiful as well. I thought you meant a floor mat like goes in your car
