Danny I had to laugh when you cut the bad from your peach . It reminded me of my sister in law who stopped by last year when I was cleaning my strawberries for jam she saw me cut a bad part off the strawberry and throw the good into my pot and just about died she swore that strawberry would ruin my jam. I told her that slug was not in the jam and she had eaten several jars that I have canned in the past and she was still breathing! That's one person that no longer comes by for a jar of my strawberry rhubarb jam. Now I just need about 6 more relatives to stop by and maybe I won't have to can more than I need every year!

I can smell those peaches from here! They look delicious! My grandfather used to paint his fruit trees with lime to prevent pest destruction. Come to think of it, almost everyone's fruit trees were painted white with lime when I was young. Thanks for sharing!

Oh my them Peaches look good Danny! And you are correct, The grocery store fruits don’t smell like anything !! My daughter once found this beautiful big red apple! It was so red and pretty, she begged for it, and I got it for her. She got in the car and bit into that Apple, it was not ripe, and it had been dyed red! The dye actually bled into the fruit. She was so bummed . We tossed the apple 🍎

I did peaches yesterday and will be doing more today. Of course, with it being my first time canning peaches, they didn't come out in nice even looking slices. More like diced peaches! I find peeling the skin off is easier for me than putting the peaches in hot water. My first batch I put in hot water to peel, and I ended up making jam out of those. It was a mess!! LOL Live & learn. :)

Those peaches are beautiful! They remind me of the Pleura Clings we used to have. Although, they were clings and took much time to cut off the pit, you couldn't beat the flavor. They canned very well and stayed firm. I miss them. There were lots of Good childhood memories wrapped up there.

Those are some awesome looking peaches. I use crushed up vitamin C chewables when I can my peachcots. I bought a tree that was supposed to be a 'fruit cocktail ' tree with peaches, apricots and plums on the same tree. Well, that was a joke, but that little tree has been producing small peachcots faithfully every year for near 20 years and I can them. It's a job because they are small, but man oh man they are so sweet and delicious, it's worth it.

I have never had any issue pressure canning in the reused jars either! I have all kinds of reused jars (mostly from before most of the companies got away from using canning jars!). Old miracle whip, mayonnaise, salsa.... never had a single jar break! I have lost new Ball jars though. Nothing worse than losing the bottom out of a jar!

I make peach syrup with the extra syrup when I hot pack peaches. It's delicious on pancakes. I normally do a bushel or two of peaches. So after you've cooked the peaches in the syrup, you've got a pot of peach flavored syrup. I just blend up a few peaches and add some extra sugar. I normally thicken it a little.

veronica vatter I do something similar. Can't us clothesline anymore due to family members allergies. Where end of line was is now a misc plot. The mint & oregano crossbred to something that's neither. And the rabbits eat the rest. As for the other. I was more concerned I had offended you. No visual cues. Words texted aren't always contextually clued in. Tend to bluntness myself as lived too many places never knew when moving so learned abruptness.

I had to spray my sweet potato leaves and peas with insecticidal soap and neem oil, cuz of stink bugs and grasshoppers. Nearly ate every leaf in 2 nights. I thought it was deer. I put up a fence after the first night and next day it was even worse.. That's when I discovered the bugs. They weren't just chewing holes, but devouring whole leaves down to the stem. My peach tree was covered with peaches but the last frost killed them and they shriveled up and fell off. They didn't bloom twice here.

I want to plant 🌱 some peach trees on my new property. I wonder how long it would be to have fruit, if I get trees a couple years old? And of course they do good. I love flowers but I’m mainly wanting to plant my yard with stuff I can eat. Flowers can eat and help with bugs and a lot of stuff, and I’m doing that also. My grandfather grow peaches, apples, plums here years ago. I’m trying to bring it back. He also farmed a lot of land here here with everything from greens to corn and everything in between. Next generation will have it, so I hope they will keep it up. Sorry for the long comment. Y’all are my age so...luv y’all take care😊🌻🌱

So many are so different from their great grandparents 150 years ago that people from the same family wouldn't be able to get along today. I often teach and preach on what it is to be Hebrew (YHWH's people), not the Jewish people of today, but those that actually followed His ways as He taught. Sadly most from the time since Abraham have rejected the instructions to be holy or set apart and have learned the ways of the nations. When I talk about the 10 Northern tribes of Israel or the 2 Houses, most just don't seem to understand, yet it's right there in the Bible they claim to read.
Danny, we live in a strange world where peaches and people can be as different from one another as dark is from light. I guess it's no wonder that people don't understand the words of Yeshua (Jesus) "I have come but for the sheep of the lost house of Israel."
You keep saving every piece of those peaches Danny, just as Yeshua is searching for each lost sheep of the house of Israel that was divorced by YHWH, sifted through the nations and is waking up among the swine and who have decided to return to their Father's house.
I bet Miss Wanda makes some awesome pies, I wish I could join you for a meal, but so much work and so little time before His return.

Question on your lemon water: is that fresh lemon and how much juice to water do you use? great video Danny...you got me wanting to can. o.- Our peaches are half the size of yours but still delicious. We tend to get brown spots on them but the flesh is tasty. People don't realize the difference between fresh organic fruit and the mutant stuff you get in the grocery. My husband learned that first hand when he tasted a smaller strawberry from the quarts my Amish neighbor stopped by and sold us...vs his storebought giants that he eats (I refuse). He had to add sugar to the store bought...the Amish strawberries, though smaller, were pristine and a delight without sugar. :) Thanks for sharing.

Oneda Zinn One quarter cup of lemon juice from a bottle is ok to a gallon of water. If they start to turn colors then just add a little more juice. Thanks

The painting of trees is a practice in the Balkans. We call it “kreć” and I have been trying to find it for years. It’s made from rock dust and you use it like paint. If anyone knows what it is please comment.

To stop birds and bugs make a soapy water mixture. If you ever said the wrong thing as a kid you know why. However the amount of fruit you produce after you do this is both to much for you and the tree. We only spray the branches we can reach and let the birds and bugs enjoy the top.

I have never had a problem eating a peach with a worm in it. On the other hand, a peach with half a worm kinda wigs me out!

J E Mix up some bleach water and pour around the base of the tree out to about a foot from the tree. Then paint the trunk. You may still loose the trees borers are hard to stop. Thanks

I haven't seen such a good bunch of peaches since I left Georgia. Boy I sure would love a mason jar of some good ole Georgia peaches. Thanks for the info on how to treat your peach tree. I live in California and the peaches here are some what on the small size. I Love the softball size, they are sweeter and juicer than any I have tasted.
Hay Danny, I had a nectarine tree that died because of termites. I didn't know I had any termites until it was to late. They were subterranean termites. Do you have anything or knowledge about protecting your tree from these insects?

Hey Danny, I have two plum trees loaded with plums that are starting to get ripe. This is the first year I've had any. I'm afraid the birds and other critters are going get them before I do. If I pick them a little green will they ripen off the tree? Any words of wisdom from you would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I had the same problem with birds this year. They were eating all of my strawberries and blueberries. I bought inexpensive bird netting from Walmart and saved my berries. I bought extra netting for my figs and plums that are beginning to ripen. Homegrown plums can be picked early to ripen on your counter, but best to allow them to ripen on tree just like a tomato for the best taste. :)

      @DeepSouthHomestead  6 років тому +1

Its best to leave them on the tree to ripen if you can. Thanks
