Report says LAX's People Mover project may be delayed until 2025

- Tom Wait reports from LAX, where a recent report claims that the Automated People Mover expected to debut in 2024 may be delayed by a year for a number of reasons.
Lousy journalism, no explanation of the why in the who, what why and when.
We are told there could be a delay but given little info on what the delay could be about. What's the dispute?
Yep, here we go! Everything in LA takes forever to complete. There are several videos on YT showing the progress of the peoplemover and new infrastructure. You always see a just few guys milling around and nobody seems to be working. Nobody is accountable and yet people seem to be profiting off this.
Of Course. LA is more concerned about SJW issues as oppose to doing their job.
We should make it mandatory for all transit agencies to develop their own in house expertise in construction even if it takes a long time initially the final dividends are well worth it. We should stop contracting and consulting to third parties, they act nice for getting the contract but then deliberately push for delays to get more money once the project is at their mercy.
LAX would have been better with a traditional subway system that connected to METRO, and the K LINE should had been Heavy Rail instead of Light Rail.
Why must stories be so shallow? What are the root causes? Why not ask the interim CEO more questions? Why are projects like these always delayed n’ go waaay over budget? Who are the people directly overseeing this project?

Consider how much money the goons who run those big ugly parking garages surrounding LAX have to lose if you could just get in and out via People mover connected to trains. That's part of the story that seems to be avoided by the press.

It should be called the Money Mover because the only thing it is moving is 30 billion taxpayer dollars into the pockets of contractor and politicians.
If this is some kind of contract dispute, then hopefully all this negative news reporting will incentivize them to come to terms and honor the already delayed October 2024 opening time frame.

It's like a domino effect. The people mover gets pushed back a year to 2025. Then there's no reason for the K line lightrail to open the extension to the people mover. This is the part all those transportation influencer should be up in arms demanding an excuse publicly.
This is a running issue in America as a whole, not just a California problem. Infrastructure construction is taking a lot longer to be completed since the pandemic started, because of private contractors being used and adding an extra layer of possible issues. Costs also balloon tremendously with these types of projects as well, and the longer they take the higher the fee accumulates at the end. Private contractors that construct big projects like this have a monopoly in place as only a selection of them are even willing to work with the government and require prices to be billions more than it needs to be. This is the same problem that LA Metro is having right now, with the D Line subway extension taking several years longer to complete and changing contractors twice, and most likely won't be completed in time for the 2028 Olympics. If the government could develop their own contracting group, these projects would get done much faster and _much_ cheaper. But that doesn't happen.
Federal Govenment IS THE PROBLEM itself.
They get almost done with the construction then cease all activity, why can't they at least act like adults and get this thing operational, and now they just delayed it all the way to October 2025 when it was supposed to open in 2023? What a joke!! Next year we'll probably hear that the two children are still fighting so it's delayed again until 2029!

It truly is so frustrating to see such a potentially transformative project be mired down by bureaucratic issues and work stoppages. I'd love to hear an air-tight reason as to why this has taken so long, and would potentially take even longer, to be completed. However, I have a sinking feeling that no such reason would ever be provided to the tax paying public. As @markdc1145 said, there's no accountability, but I'm absolutely willing to be proven wrong.

30 BILLION? WTF? This tram thing is not going to work when people have lots of luggage. This is the biggest waste. People want to be dropped off for convenience. Not a lot of people fly light.
30 billion is for all the work being done at LAX, not just the APM.
Many of the better airports around the workd have similar Metro/APM infrastructure and it works, so will this. BTW, there will be features like moving sidewalks/walkways to assist people.
