- Take a tour of the Flowers Baking Co. of Lenexa, LLC, which opened in mid-June after $10 million in improvements to the shuttered Hostess Brands bakery at 8960 Marshall Drive in Lenexa. In the 137,000 square-foot facility, Flowers Foods produces Wonder bread and buns, Nature's Own, Home Pride and Sunbeam bread products. Flowers Baking Co. re-opened the bakery with a bread line churning out 150 loaves of bread per minute, then in August added a high-speed bun line capable of cranking out 800 buns per minute. I deliberately ended up here after learning about the Wonder Bread guy
I worked for the Original Wonder Bread Owned by Interstate Brands Corporation. And I can assure you by experience the New Wonder Bread and Hostess products are not even a fraction of what they used to be. The portions of both products are smaller and the Quality is subpar.
As a retired Wonder/Hostess salesman, I confer with what you say. I was proud of the product that I sold back in the day. Today's product isn't even close to the quality product that we offered in the past !

i just bought a loaf of sarra lee bread which is a flowers product the bread slices were all full of holes some as big as a half dollar the taste of the bread was just as bad the bread slices were all very uneven i will never by another flowers product again if i pay a premium price i want a premium product

Bread consists mainly of 2 or 3 ingredients: flour (coarse or fine), water and yeast (optional, but it helps with the rising). A little salt plus something on top. After proofing and before you put it in the oven to bake. Spray water on top of the surface, so that a yummy crust is formed. Enjoy your meal.... They categorize Wonder bread as bread, but it really isn't. Rather a cost-effective frankenstein product.

I am diabetic and find Wonder 100% whole wheat bread to insipid and almost nauseous. Can you please touch up your recipe to a more pleasant taste. I shall be trying your honey wheat to see if it is any better; that is if it doesn't upset my blood sugar level.
When I was growing up in Richmond, Virginia in the 1960's, one of my high school friends' father worked as an engineer for American Machine and Foundary (AMF). He once told me "I'm an engineer, and I design the machines that make Wonder Bread, so I know what goes into it. If you knew what goes into this shit, you would never eat it." I don't know if they've changed the recipe at all, but it certainly was true back then.

Bread should NOT have any additional sugar in it than the tiny pinch that’s needed to activate the yeast! The extra sugar makes this unhealthy and gives bread in the USA a bad rep.

I hate wonder bread it's chewy and is almost like eating jello. Nature's Own is actually a really nice tasting brand. So much better than the jello bread. I know it's ironic but if they change the Wonder bread recipe a bit I'm sure it would taste a lot better

They changed the formula. Now the package says things like , fibre added, or vitamins added, but it tastes like normal white bread, boring. It used to taste like no other white bread. I sometimes ate an entire loaf, like those slices were potato chips. But alas, now the packaging remains, but that unique taste is gone.
Also, ... Hostess Twinkies - original formula is no more - looks the same, but taste is boring, bland. No longer whipped cream sugary in golden sponge cake, but simply yellow cake with white stuffing, boring. Sad. And the twinkies found in a 7 11 have never been edible. I think twinkie production was like the original pre kitkat versions - with all these companies making tweaks and creating variant flavours such that apps were company-specific. Such that a samsung android app could not run on an asus android device... the brand should taste the same...regardless of which factory makes it....
