I don't think Bioware did a bad job of creating Sera, they actually did a brilliant job in making a character that is so easy to hate as well as like. She's not like some other characters in video games who are perfect and hold all the right ideals. She's flawed, she's ignorant and writes off things she doesn't understand, and she's overly hyperactive and silly. But she's also actually pretty wise about a lot of stuff too. I'd much prefer her to Bioware putting another bog-standard slightly "quirky" character in her place. They actually did really well in making real characters, with different opinions, even if they were overly unpopular.

I cant understand that about bioware when it came to this series. The majority of companions from the wardens story were likable. But once 2 was released going anywhere as well as speaking with most of your companions was a headache particularly Fenris and Anders. Fenris whined too much and Anders went from likable, in awakening, to an egotistical zealot. Varric even stated Fenris whined too much and Isabela told Anders him talking about the mages plight, all the time, was annoying.
Nope. That's what I did my first playthrough. I didn't find out until AFTER I went as far as one could that Harding wasn't a complete romance option. :(

She may have the demon thing wrong, but she's probably right about the elven gods were no gods at all. But, anyway, it's great to see the dwarf side of things. Lots of specific comments.
And the intrigue in Halamshiral, she says all we did was put another asshole on the throne, even Briala as she puts it quite well: "How long will it take for her to forget about her precious elves"
i have a theory that the elven "gods" were either extremely powerful elf mages or just unusually powerful demons, and there's some evidence, particularly in the temple of mythal (especially if solas is brought along) that fen'harel wasn't a dirty traitor and in dialogue with solas (if you romance him) it's kinda implied that fen'harel rebelled against the elves over them fighting amongst themselves and for enslaving their own people

The clipping in that sex scene was just ridiculous. Why is it that game devs have such a problem realising that you need to modify your animations and positioning (or at least test them!) when you have very short or very tall characters in cutscenes?
Clipping... I've asked myself for the last 10 years... Can't devs see all this clipping. Seriously almost every game has tons of clipping issues and it hasn't improved in a decade as far as I can tell.
I have to say that Sera is probably my favorite character of the new cast (pretty much a tie with Cassandra). She brings me much needed smiley time in a game full of frowns. So far, I've romanced her with 4 different Inquisitors each of a difference race. I try to stray away and commit to other relationships, but I always end up back at her door.
It is possible but it is a many hour long process; first edit and render in Sony Vegas (2-3 hours), compress file down to tiny size (2 hours), then upload (30 minutes?) All possible but a full working internet with no data cap would be better so let's hope I get that come next month.

Sera because shes hypocritical and in denial about everything and vivienne purely because shes ok with mages being treated the same way they've been for years as long as she doesn't have to live with them. But eventually I understood their points. Sera is just a regular person, albeit a racist one, that lives in a world full of insanity. Just wish that she didn't act like she was the only correct one and every one else lies Vivienne understands that mages are people and magic is dangerous like any person with a sword, that's why they need to be taught in a safe place. And understanding mages comes from an understanding on both sides, so teach the non mages to remove the ignorance

They could have used a few audio tools to adjusts the voice files so they didn't seem so rushed. Of all the romance videos for DAI i have seen this is the only one I wished was slowed down by 5%. I think I had whiplash after watching it. And that is not a statement on your video editing technique Stardusk. I don't think anyone could have pieced this together as well as you did, its just what you had to work with, lol
Not everyone who has led a hellish life is sad and broken, just look at Tiny Tina from Borderlands, the humor is just a facade for the pain inside her, on her sidequest for a tea party you can see the joy and pain in her voice whe she says "best tea party ever" she breaks down on her RPG game (DLC Attack on Dragon's Keep), i think that is what Sera lacked, a moment where she reveals her serious side

I am sure you must know someone that has had a rough childhood and find that they act more mature and have a more grown up view of the world than the character Sera does. It looks to me like Bioware was trying to make a point with Sera that she is a fundamentally damaged individual, that she can only cope with life by acting like a child. I can't make any comment on the other character you mentioned, but Sera is not a normal case at all. Either way you put it Bioware flubbed badly with this character. She should have been a bit more fleshed out and again I think the pacing of the dialog is just to fast. Its like the voice actress was on a cafine rush and just slammed through the dialog without thinking about what was being said and adjusting the pace. If her dialog lines could be reprocessed through some audio software to slow the tempo of her voice lines down a bit I think even Stardusk might have been able to live with her as a character. But they made her this fast talking and hyper child in an adults body, that I and others find off putting to say the least. As Stardusk has put it, I would never even attempt to talk to someone like this in real life. I feel the same way. You can't have a meaningful conversation with someone if what they say flies past you so fast you only pick up half of what is being said. Just as a side-note I have finally added Sera to the team in my game, and have talked to her a bit. I can understand most of her dialog but it really is a bit fast. I can't romance her because I play as male but i will try and work with her hare and there just to see if she might grow on me. Time will only tell.
Donald Edwards honestly? her childishness reads as a coping mechanism. she's had a hard life with both a shitty childhood and little memory of that. not learning how to be or not be a child is gonna land you in a limbo, or its going to make you really serious, or its going to make you both. also, its heavily implied through dialogue and stuff that she's dealing with SOMETHING tied to the fade - i think something mentions her hearing voices? she rejects a lot of stuff and sticks her fingers in her ears because its scary and if things turn out to be true, she doesnt have the coping mechanisms established to deal with that. hence being childish and immature about things.
The problems I had with Sera are the same problems I had with Vette (SWToR) and Isabella (Dragon Age 2). Vette/Sera: Despite her snarkiness, she really had no bite, and no stomach for the reality she claims to be proficient in, preferring to play the annoying brat until the adults step in with real problems--at which point she snaps like a twig. Isabella/Sera: As funny as she is, she is just a one-trick pony. What you see when you first meet her is not a taste of her surface traits--it's her, and it grows annoying fast. Why? Because she never stops, she never grows, and she never tries to understand, despite having a relatively rough backstory.
There´s something really really wrong with Sera´s face. Just stop it at 13:40, it looks as if she had a really bad botox job. Or 13:44, there she looks like a blonde even uglier version of Gollum.

Sera has to be the most immature and frivolous characters I have ever seen in a video game. She acts like a 13 or 14 year old child, not someone that has been through a hellish life and in their 20s. In all Seriousness, I just started playing DAI myself and am going to keep her at a distance at best. Thank the gods that she is only a female PC love interest, because she would be the last choice for my character. And have to agree that the timing of her dialog seems to rushed and frantic. They could have used a few audio tools to adjusts the voice files so they didn't seem so rushed. Of all the romance videos for DAI i have seen this is the only one I wished was slowed down by 5%. I think I had whiplash after watching it. And that is not a statement on your video editing technique Stardusk. I don't think anyone could have pieced this together as well as you did, its just what you had to work with, lol

Not everyone who has led a hellish life is sad and broken, just look at Tiny Tina from Borderlands, the humor is just a facade for the pain inside her, on her sidequest for a tea party you can see the joy and pain in her voice whe she says "best tea party ever" she breaks down on her RPG game (DLC Attack on Dragon's Keep), i think that is what Sera lacked, a moment where she reveals her serious side

That is a possibility, but most people that have had such a life with such hardships act much more mature for someone there age. It doesn't make them broken it makes them some what wiser than most of their contemporaries. I am sure you must know someone that has had a rough childhood and find that they act more mature and have a more grown up view of the world than the character Sera does. It looks to me like Bioware was trying to make a point with Sera that she is a fundamentally damaged individual, that she can only cope with life by acting like a child. I can't make any comment on the other character you mentioned, but Sera is not a normal case at all. Either way you put it Bioware flubbed badly with this character. She should have been a bit more fleshed out and again I think the pacing of the dialog is just to fast. Its like the voice actress was on a cafine rush and just slammed through the dialog without thinking about what was being said and adjusting the pace. If her dialog lines could be reprocessed through some audio software to slow the tempo of her voice lines down a bit I think even Stardusk might have been able to live with her as a character. But they made her this fast talking and hyper child in an adults body, that I and others find off putting to say the least. As Stardusk has put it, I would never even attempt to talk to someone like this in real life. I feel the same way. You can't have a meaningful conversation with someone if what they say flies past you so fast you only pick up half of what is being said. Just as a side-note I have finally added Sera to the team in my game, and have talked to her a bit. I can understand most of her dialog but it really is a bit fast. I can't romance her because I play as male but i will try and work with her hare and there just to see if she might grow on me. Time will only tell.

Donald Edwards honestly? her childishness reads as a coping mechanism. she's had a hard life with both a shitty childhood and little memory of that. not learning how to be or not be a child is gonna land you in a limbo, or its going to make you really serious, or its going to make you both.
also, its heavily implied through dialogue and stuff that she's dealing with SOMETHING tied to the fade - i think something mentions her hearing voices? she rejects a lot of stuff and sticks her fingers in her ears because its scary and if things turn out to be true, she doesnt have the coping mechanisms established to deal with that. hence being childish and immature about things.
The problems I had with Sera are the same problems I had with Vette (SWToR) and Isabella (Dragon Age 2).
Vette/Sera: Despite her snarkiness, she really had no bite, and no stomach for the reality she claims to be proficient in, preferring to play the annoying brat until the adults step in with real problems--at which point she snaps like a twig.
Isabella/Sera: As funny as she is, she is just a one-trick pony. What you see when you first meet her is not a taste of her surface traits--it's her, and it grows annoying fast. Why? Because she never stops, she never grows, and she never tries to understand, despite having a relatively rough backstory.

i want someone makes a mod for sera, she looks like a failed plastic surgery. if anybody can make it, plz. it rly hard to talk to sera when i see her face.
and i dunno y bioware can make merrill in d.a 2 beautiful but cannot make sera looks beautiful.

She's supposed to look as if she is a vagrant, living on the street, striving to survive in that kind of life. It is the sort of life with much hardship, which is hard on the body.
Aside from that, if she was beautiful (I can't help but be annoyed by this - every single person has to be the popular conception of beauty or the legion of vanity can't get up their flaccid hangers) then she would've ended up as beautiful elves often do; as a sex slave to a noble or merchant or being used as a prostitute.
