This Grill Is Perfect For RV & Camping - Best BBQ Coleman Roadtrip 225

- This is the Coleman Roadtrip 225. It is a smaller more portable version of the Tailgater 285. From what I can tell, it's slightly smaller and doesn't come with the collapsible stand, but that makes it more portable in my opinion. This one fits great in my travel trailer storage and is easy to grab for a day on the lake, river, or camping trip. It's easily one of the best portable grills out there.

Thank you for posting
You're welcome!
Lol, that was entertaining. Looking forward to you doing one on a fishing video.
Ha, you should have seen me doing the audio with a blanket over my head. You mean a fishing video with commentary? That could be entertaining!
I just bought mine at Walmart on clearance for $50 so I think I got a good deal only thing is mine didn't come with a regulator. You think I could use an aftermarket one?
As long as the pressures and fittings are the same, you'll be good. You might be able to give Coleman a call and get one sent out. That's still a heck of a deal!
You did a BLR on yourself LOL. Still a great video!
Lol, thanks. It reminds me of the old reviews when UA-cam first started. I had already cooked the steaks so no going back!
You might want to edit out the "using Windex to clean the grill" part because some people might actually do it! And they are going to blame you for it. Other than that good review.
I meant using Windex to clean the outside of the grill. It does a great job cutting grease and shining it back up, but I sure hope no one tries to clean inside with it!
I have a question hoping you can shed some light on it! In your opinion, between a similarly priced portable grill v a standalone patio grill for outside, do you think the quality of food made is comparable and just as good? Reason being I'm shopping for a grill for my apartment balcony and I'm considering things like size and clean up. I'm planning to grill mainly meats and steaks, hence I'm wondering if a portable grill would suffice or should I get a similarly priced standalone propane grill
Yes, I had a very similar setup on my apartment balcony for years and it worked great. The only issue is if you are doing long cook's like tri-tips or ribs or other similar things. I think durability is fine and the cleanup is a bonus. I think a standalone in this price range might have issues with build quality or grate quality. You may be able to find something if you are willing to shop around and look for sales or demo models. It is nice to have the ability to pack it up and take it on a trip, though.
@@RoadandReel yeah I love the size and the portability aspect of it, even tho i'm likely never going to take it out hahaha. I'm not looking to drop too much money into grilling just yet as im kinda just starting and plan to ease into it slowly and see what experience I can pick up along the way. I'm also concerned about cheaper grate quality of the other cheaper standalone models as I know from previous experiences those things are usually the first things to go and ruin the grilling experience generally
Thanks for the video and the reply! very informative!
Can you hook this up to your external camper RV connector?
Yes, they make a quick disconnect hose for it. It's the one that bypasses the regulator on the bbq.
@@RoadandReel Thank you. I will have to do some searching for this. Do you by chance have a link?
@@eliteent02 I believe this hose will work. I actually have it in my cart, but I haven't pulled the trigger. amzn.to/3we4vjN
Does this come with the regulator?
Yes it does, but if you want to hook it to a big tank, you'll have to buy the hose.
My issue with the lid is not that it doesn't have a latch, but that it doesn't even come remotely close to closing all the way when the grates are on the grill. Is this "normal" for a portable grill like this? I had mine for all of 20 minutes, realized the lid doesn't close all the way and that it seemed to be BY BESIGN and not a defect, and got right back in the truck to return it.
@@MasterOfNone585 I just wrapped a Bungie around mine and I don't have any issues. It rides in my trailer and I've never had the grates or anything bounce out, but I can see your concern.
how come you dont put water in the pan?
I guess I could, but I don't want to steam the meat. It might make cleanup better, though.
You don’t add water in the pan?
@@RoadandReelthe manual says you can add water up to the line on the metal tray.. after researching on google it says different things like Water vapor mixes with combustion gasses to improve the flavor. 6) Water vapor condenses on the meat and makes it “sticky” allowing more smoke to adhere. And the added moisture from the water pan can aid in getting a thicker smoke ring on long cooks because it keeps the outside of the meat from forming a crust
@@yakyak9312 you are 100% correct. Thanks for the reply and clarification. I'm going to delete my old comment because everything you said checks out.
Coleman should add a Thermometer.
I agree
You're supposed to put water in it
Yeah, but I usually don't. Especially if I'm on the boat. It does make it easier to clean after cooking though.
Mine rusted in 1 year
Wow, does it sit outside?
