We’ve been using the same grill for almost 7 years. We love it. We bought a cast iron flat griddle that we interchange with the grill so we can cook bacon and pancakes in the morning! We also bring a small 3 gallon propane tank so we can barbecue away from the coach on the picnic table.
Love this channel. Lots of great info. Wiper blades are a lot of money these days. Go to a big box home improvement store and get a piece of pipe insulation and cut it to length. When parked put them on your wipers. They look like gray swimming pool noodles. I put them on my car to see if they would stay on, I only got up to 90 and they never moved.
I have a friend that did this too. Regularly. Them he ran into a strong cross wind while underway, it caught those noodles on the wipers and tore the entire assembly off his windshield. We cover our blades but only when sitting still for periods of time.
Awesome grill option here!! And, I like that cooking temperature probe! I haven't purchased a grill yet....still trying to decide between a grill or a griddle. Safe travels!
Protip: Adding the extend-a-stay moves the existing regulator 5" to the right. Make sure your RV's propane line will still reach. Mine runs to the rear of bay and would not reach. You can get these lines custom made longer at a good hardware store. My Winnebago C needed a 3/8" hose with a flared end and a NPT end. Best to bring the existing hose and regulator to the store.
Well with this grill your able to do that and the extend a stay will allow you to hook that baby up. Did you look at that grill in our Amazon Store? Look under "Camping Gear Winter / Summer" category. www.amazon.com/shop/rvstreet Thanks Jeffery. 🙏
Great, I have used the same grill with a regular grill propane tank for about 15 years. Thanks, for the info about the coach LP Tank adapter components.
I have an attachable gas grill that came with my Okanagan Truck Camper. Used it once in 8 years. Don't like gas BBQ, simple as that. I bought a cheap suitcase hibachi type thing and that's the way I go. Cooked up a Pork Roast and some chicken thighs last night, with two baked po-ta-toes (Samwise Gamgee). Also, two ears of corn with some good beer. God Bless!
Been needing a recommendation for an RV grill. We'll probably use it at home too, instead of the biga$$ 500 sq inch stainless steel inferno on wheels we usually use. We're not doing big cookouts at this time, so... Thanks for this vid! Stay safe and healthy!
Thank you Darth so much and also for using our links to purchase. We take that as a "Thank You" for taking the time to make these videos. OH, BTW...I like my steak med rare....about 1" thick please. 😀👍
Always like your videos, Martin. I had a quick connect installed on my on-board propane tank. I had it installed on the side after the regulator. Thus the propane supply to my grill is low pressure. And instead of a grill I use a 22” Blackstone table-top griddle. I find it a lot more versatile than a grill. I do almost all of the cooking outside on the griddle. I like keeping the heat (and odors) from cooking outside of the coach. With the optional lid, I can even bake on it. Mostly biscuits for breakfast. Keep the videos coming. I am learning a lot from you. Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday.
Thanks Marie. You've been with us for so long. It's been a long road but yah. We're finally beginning to understand what folks want to see and sharing what we've learned that matters to people. But the reality of it is, in UA-camdom we're still small fries in the big scheme of things. But that's OK. We're retired and just trying to help where we can. 👍😃
Thanks, I have a Coleman Road Trip. Had it about 6 or 7 years. The Road Trip is really large, and heavy and extremely difficult to bring from a stowed position to the ready and visa versa. I am looking for a new grill and you may have sold me on the Weber. What was I thinking, I have Weber for my home why not the RV? Thanks again.
I have a Weber very similar to yours . The only problem I had was it would not start when I bought it. So I called customer service at Weber and they were very helpful and determined I had a defective regulator which they replaced. They sent it to the campground where I was staying in Florida, no charge. It’s been fine ever since.
We have the same grill and have had it for several years ( i have always had weber grills at home and love them), i am ready to replace it as i've had problems with it recently because it has been hard to light. the thing that i have never been happy with is the fact that on the lowest setting i feel it is too hot, so i'm going to explore other options.
Great vid! I really enjoy watching and learning tips from you. My wife searched all over the area, to no avail, for the 2200 Weber for Father’s Day. Those things are as scarce as a unicorn right now. Fortunately, that allowed me to do more research. I’ve opted for a 2-burner for better control and more flexibility. I think for my cooking style, I will be happier. Its also 6-8 weeks back ordered for the same reason the weber is. You did solve a huge conundrum for me however with the extend a stay! That is exactly what I have been looking for to avoid carrying extra propane for the same reason you described. I will be ordering that this week! Thanks! Btw, nice diver!
Thanks Kenneth. I have not found the Weber to be scarce. I provided links in the description area of this video and everything I discussed-including the grill-is in stock. Just go to the top of the page, click SHOW MORE scroll down and they'll be right there.
RVstreet the weber 1200 is available. The 2200 is the scarce one. BBQ GUYS in Baton Rouge says its due to import issues. But the dual burner Napoleon Q285 is the game changer for me. I do mostly indirect bbqing and im willing to sacrifice a little more real estate in storage to be able to cook that way. If you know of a smaller 2 burner or even a deflector for the weber, I am still not completely committed!
I like your videos but can't agree on the grill! That thing is great if you are not really cooking. A proper RV grill is a Traeger Ranger or GMG Davy Crockett pellet grill. Those little propane grills are fine for short, high heat cooks.
Well Jerold, I respectfully disagree with you and here's why. The title of this video is "Best RV BBQ Grill". I probably can think of 10 BBQ Grills and smokers that are way better than what I suggested here. But when you're full timing in an RV, storage area, weight and everything else you need to carry with you to have a better grill are very important things folks need to think about,. Your suggestions are good but...when full timing and you take everything with you to live all the time it's just not practical to have a more complex grill and accessories. I've cooked some awesome meals on this grill. Not just short high heat cooking meals. Now if a person or couple has a permanent RV lot and sits there all the time and doesn't move all the time, then you're suggestions makes sense. Peace brother. 😝
Hey Martin, it appears that when you installed the new setup that you replaced the existing hose from the existing tank regulator up to the manifold and added a 90 degree elbow. I assume that the added fittings for the Extend-A-Stay moved the connection too close to the side wall. I have a similar situation. I was wondering what you used for that part of the installation.
Yep, that's why I did it. To be honest I don't remember the part#. I did this install when I first bought the RV way back in 2016, didn't have a YT channel then and didn't keep the record for that part. But I do know I bought what I needed here: mbsturgis.com/
We have had a Weber Q2200 for about 12 years use it quite often. Original igniter still works lights on no more than 2 pushes. I installed a hose kit and use it with a 20lb bottle at the house. We already have a gas tap for a hose on our RV thinking of doing exactly this with a q1200. 1 dislike, Ok who’s the wise guy?
Explain how you added the extra valve to your propane tank. I can't find anyone willing to do add the extra hose between the regulator and the shut off valve.
The extra hose comes with the Extend-A-Stay kit. You simply snap in the hose into the Quick Disconnect at the newly installed Extend-A-Stay kit at the propane tank and then the other end screws into the Grill regulator.
Martin, only one problem. No way does steaks taste as good with propane as charcoal. The seasoning I have perfected over many many years does not work on propane grills and yet it is the very best with charcoal grills. Don
Well it's not a problem but I hear ya, but SOME full timers just don't have the room to lug all that stuff around. But our wood chip container does get mighty close. thx Don 👍
I have the same grill. I also have the Weber stand it goes on, it does not take up much room at all and is very light. It has wheels a handle and it folds down very compact with grill attached.
Hi. I wrote to you a few days ago and said that the notification bell didn't work for me on your channel, that your videos were marked for kids. Well, I found how to fix that. I just have to unsubscribe to your channel and then subscribe to it again. When I do that the notification bell can be turned on. I had a few other channels with the same problem and this little trick fixed them too. Some kind of glitch in youtube.
Ah, well done mate. I certainly will use this info if ever someone else has this issue. I can't thank you enough for coming back and relaying that valuable info. 👍💕
I have the same setup as you, extend a stay, hose, and Webber Q1200 grille. I had to replace the regulator on the grill twice in the first year because I believe the regulator got gummed up with oil from the tank and hose. I love the grill, don’t want to depend on the little green tanks, so I’ve got to fix this. Mr Heater makes a propane filter that screws right into the grill, and the hose screws into the filter. Spoke with a Mr Heater tech and he said this filter will prevent the regulator from getting oil buildup. I will know in a few months if this worked. Does anyone else have this problem or used this filter?
Good advice David. That Mr. Heater propane filter sounds like a good idea because oil build up in the hose therefore in the regulator does happen. I haven't had a problem with my grill regulator but I'm going to get one too and add it to my Amazon Store. Great idea David. Hose needs to be cleaned periodically too.
